To LAX: I was talking about Phil Steele, not Los Vegas et al. Phil Steele clearly rated Georgia the better team.

Give credit where it's due: the D played very well. Tillery and Tranquil, for example, looked like different players (in a good way). Keep in mind this was the most talented backfield in the nation.
The problem was the O. Wimbush wasn't spectacular, although he was serviceable. The play calling also wasn't great. And in a 1 point game every drop and bad play call kills you.
I'm still waiting on the "Kelly Offense" that we saw at Cincinnati.
Hard fought game that game down to the end,
1. ND D played well
2. ND OL outplayed by UGA front 7
3. UGA team speed a difference maker
4. ND receivers have to make catches
5. UGA D had right plan for Wimbush
6. Doug Flutie is irritating...turning off audio from now on
7. Yoon back on track
I'm not able to read through all the responses, but anyone have any commentary regarding why Dexter Williams isn't involved at all and also why CJ Sanders isn't used as a WR?
Playcalling was beyond frustrating. I get UGA's defense is one of the best, but call some plays to help a brother out. I think back to how Kelly called the OU game in Norman for Golson and wish we could've seen some of that(some whispers in Chip's ear, suggestions). Chris Finke has to sit in the open area instead of drift over towards the defenders at the end. So many little things like that throughout the game, and Wimbush trying to get outside instead of plowing forward for 2+ and a first down. Ugh, on to Fredo.
Kelly was asked during press conference. Answer was "Coach's decision." That's it. Today during the teleconference he insinuated they wanted Adams in for pass blocking.
Which is extra delicious because Adams was pretty terrible in pass protection.Kelly was asked during press conference. Answer was "Coach's decision." That's it. Today during the teleconference he insinuated they wanted Adams in for pass blocking.

Book makes quick decisions?Wow! Haven't seen this much analysis in years.
Most disappointing was how poorly Wimbush played. Concerned about the QB position more now than ever. Was the play calling a Schmitt show? Hell yes! Was it good enough to win? Yes. Execution at QB at even an average level was way off. It's as if Wimbush pulled a Costanza and made the wrong read option decision every time. He has no feel for touch passes. This is his third year there and he has all that "Grit" too bad it equaled Schmitt.
Josh Adams will not get drafted, McG will go second round based on footage from this game. He should have come out. Very few plays made on offense. More boners than plays. I kept saying from second Qtr on where is Dexter? It's as if Kelly refuses to give in to pressure and digs his heels in. Coverage on punts and kickoffs is slow as schist. Copmapre it to Georgia. Some greedy F's selling there tickets. They should look into anyone doing this Schmitt and pull their privelages.
Kudos to some nice plays by Coleman. I know Daelin Hayes is getting better but he rally wiffed on that TFL. Didn't see as much rotation this week. I think opposing teams think ND can bring pressure and counter with all these quick strikes. I was honestly not concerned at the prospect of Book taking over as he seems to make quick smart decsisions and delivers the ball quickly.
Note: ESB won't be leaving early and neither will Wimbush or anyone else.

Lmfao.9 wins? Don't see it at all. There are going to be a bunch of tough, close games and this team has shown no ability to win those. Will be very surprised if we finish better than 7-5.
Where have you been for the last decade of Notre Dame football? The sample size isn't two games, it's eight years.Lmfao.
"the team has shown no ability to win close ones"
We've only played 2 games. One, we destroyed a decent opponent. The other, we lost to one of the best defenses in the whole country by 1 point.
What have you seen that shows, we can't win 9 games?
USC and Stanford are the only two teams that are (on paper) better than us. (both of which have lesser defenses).
You're using heartbreak to throw the season away. That's what quitters do. Winners bounce back and learn from their downfalls.
You don't know Long. You don't know Elko. You have no sample size to justify your irrational judgment.
Let the games be played. Let them show us what they can do.
I see no reason why we can't get 9 wins. I'm not guaranteeing it. But I equally so no justification for 7 or less wins.
Go back under your rock, please.

No more scheduling "once in a lifetime" home games for large fan bases.
Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, Boston College, Army, Navy, Air Force, USC, Stanford, BYU, Northwestern, PittFordham, Eastern Michigan, Idaho, Eastern Podunk Northwestern Taxidermy.... Winnable schedules, ND is doing it wrong.
We haven't won a 50/50 game (against a decent opponent) since Stanford 2012. When we DO win 50/50 games, it's against trash teams that we should be pounding.I picked this team to go 9-3 with loses to SC, Stanford and either UGA or Miami. Can the team lose to all those and MSU? Sure. Could they go 10-2. Sure.
To act like THIS team is the same entity as every team in the past 8 years is silly. That's saying Diaco at his best is the same as BVG at his worst. I believe Elko is the real deal and he alone will win a few 50/50 games, like they had a chance to do last night.
