1. Malik Zaire......... no need to explain this one, but: 19/22, 313 yards, 3 TDs. But more important than the numbers, Zaire looked as poised as a 5th year senior out there. I was VERY impressed with his presence.

2. The Defensive Line.... Sheldon Day, in particular, played incredibly well. He was in the backfield on almost every play, disrupting the offense. The pressure they put on the QB helped a somewhat young secondary to really look like a solid veteran unit.

3. CJ Prosise had a great game (20 carries for 98 yards), but he looked like less than a polished tailback. He got better as the game went along, but the first half he looked pretty awkward on the runs out of the backfield. Hopefully he continues to settle in and be productive. He looks like he could grow into a very good running back.

4. The Offensive Line was outstanding. All night long. A couple of dumb false start penalties, but I would take that performance every week, and be very happy.

5. As good as the team looked tonight, there were still things to improve on. The penalties need to get cleaned up. Malik had a few throws that were behind the receiver, and he could work on cleaning that up a little bit. Punt Return still needs work, obviously. Also, this is a Texas team that went 6-7 last year, so I am not going to get too over the top crazy about what was a great performance tonight. But it sure does feel good.

My game ball goes to Zaire........ He REALLY impressed tonight!

We looked very good, but Texas looks like an awful football team right now. Unreal how bad that offense was.

Not really much to say. OL/QB/WR were as advertised. DL was exactly what we hoped they'd be against the run (and made to look like world beaters in pass rush by Texas' horrendous OL), LBs were very good, and the secondary besides a Shumate penalty was good enough. Gave up one big pass play and that was it.

I'm cautiously optimistic we'll be OK at RB, because I like how both frosh ran the ball, but that's really the only area of concern. Kelly ran a conservative game plan because he knew that was all he needed to win, and when he did open it up Zaire looked good. The main issue I see with Zaire is learning when to give up on a play and not take a huge negative.

We'll find how tough we are. Those guys run hard.

i hate the triple option.

we should have dropped navy with Ga Tech on the schedule.

i'll be interested to see how Adams improves with the increased work load. sure they've kept things simple for him up to this poin....hopefully he can rise to the challenge.

great start, but can't relax going on the road next week and i'm sure we'll get Virgina's best shot.

The OL was phenomenal. The backs had gaping holes and Zaire had all day to throw.

Great win. Tough loss in Folston. Onto Virginia...have to be sharp as UVA does have talent.

I have a hard time believing Texas is as bad as they looked. It's not like we got a bunch of turnovers or busted big plays on them. We just asserted our will on both sides of the ball, over and over. We'll learn more against Ga. Tech. But that was a pretty impressive game.

The cupcake was funny as hell, but not accurate, that was NOT Wafford... They'll win a few good games, that was ND at the beginning of the BK era...

1. The offensive line is unreal. Just stupid good.

2. Zaire did not look at all like a 1st year starter. He played under control, made the proper reads, was accurate with his passes, and made plays with his feet. Couldn't be more impressed with him.

3. The overall speed of the team just seems much, much faster than usual. Guys were flying all over the place.

4. I don't think there's any player on the defensive side of the ball in the entire country I'd rather have than Jaylon Smith.

5. Prosise looked good. I don't know how natural he looks as a RB but he's explosive and ran much tougher than I expected.

6. As happy and excited as I am about this beat down I just can't help but feel down due to Folston. I'm highly concerned about our RB situation. Looks like Folston is out for the year and as good as Prosise looked, he just isn't the complete back Folston is.

How can a team recruit so well, have such a good coach, and be in Texas and look so bad?

Notre Dame wasn't that bad in 2010. Not even close

If you're missing an OL or a QB your team is pretty screwed. They're missing both.

With that being said, I expect Texas to win at least 7 games this year. They aren't as bad as we made them look.

They hadn't recruited that well at the end of the Mac Brown era. Strong came in and got rid of all the knuckle head players and is playing mostly freshman and sophomores.

My wife asked me this tonight when I described how talented Texas actually is... I had a hard time explaining...

Pretty close, yeah.

I tried to explain this to my wife and after a few minutes I said, ah fvk it babe, it's hard to explain... Well done.

Texas has a lot of talent. They'll win games. Actually might make us look good in the long run. But, man, that O Line...

Two biggest takeaways --

1. No turnovers from a mobile QB with a strong arm. Been a while since we've had that confluence.

2. great pass rush without having to blitz. It makes a huge difference when you don't need to be conjuring pressure.
