It took a civil war to end chattel slavery in America, and a World War to end the Holocaust. This could end in the Second American Civil War. I would take up arms and start bombing PP clinics before allowing this evil to come to my neighborhood.

There's no logically consistent reason that post-partum babies should remain protected now either. If a completely viable 6-pound baby can be aborted mid-delivery at 40 weeks to preserve the "mental health" of the mother, and such a decision is no longer tolerated as regrettably necessary but something to be positively celebrated in the name of feminist liberation... how different are we from the ancient cults who sacrificed their children to pagan gods?

Agree. Obviously, no Catholic hospital does any abortions and the state cannot mandate matters of conscience. Mothers pre-partum deserve full information on choices and what their hospitals and physician will or will not do and referrals, if they choose. Birth control should be available to minimize these difficult decisions.

For discussion,
American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology - Clinical Practice Guidelines for Second Trimester Abortions.

Medical technology and medications have increased the percentages of babies who survive pre 24 weeks. At twenty-two weeks, zero to ten percent of newborns survive. (At twenty one weeks or less - 0%). Traditionally, a baby is viable at twenty-eight weeks and neo-natologists provide care at twenty-six weeks, which would include intensive care with IVs via central lines or frequent changes in peripheral sites, fluids, nutrition, oxygen through ventilation until lungs mature, monitoring and treatment of abnormalities which increase at that age, treatment of organ systems until they mature, etc. - all of which are painful and may require weeks in the neo-natal unit. Home delivery in areas without that intensive care, such as in rural areas, would be the most similar to viability before modern medicine advances. Addicted babies are another story. Cardiac abnormalities requiring multiple surgeries in those second trimester, pre-term babies especially should also be covered by insurances.

That's not very Christian of you Whiskey. The Pope is calling on us to console those having abortions.

It's going to get a lot worse in this country and world of ours. I'd love to say that I see a way for things to get better, but I can't. I can definitely see some type of major upheaval in the next 50 years.

I thought the old South Park bit about Cartman's mom seeing about having an abortion on him was satire...turns out it was just ahead of its time

It almost feels like they, not an inanimate object like PP but the people behind our moral and cultural decline, are intentionally testing our patience and demoralizing reasonable people to provoke a response they can portray as being unreasonable.

It's all so tiresome.

At some point, continued tolerance of this barbaric evil will do more damage to our communities than responding with the righteous anger it demands ever could. I'm ready:

Saw some poll that has been done for multiple years clearly breaking down abortion through the three trimesters as if someone thinks it should be legal or illegal. All results were consistent over 16 years the same survey was done on 4 or 5 occassions. I find the results very plausible and reasonable because one in ten people pretty much are sick selfish fucks.

First trimester - 60-70 percent approval
second trimester - 20-30 percent approval
third trimester - 10-12 percent approval
"not sure" was consistently less than 10% across all three

VAST majority of humans find third trimester disgusting and wrong - should be ILLEGAL in fact - let alone partial birth or letting a baby die in front of you.

My wife - working in a newborn nursery, 10% of newborns need support at birth - could be as simple as suction their airway. 1% need extensive support - absolutely would die without intervention. Monica Klein won't answer directly but apparently fully supports letting 1% of newborns definitely die and another 10% face dramatically higher mortality AND MORBIDITY rates and somehow thinks it is about Roe v Wade?

I am pro-life but also think a large part of this discussion needs to between those women and God, not government. However, if you can't make that choice by the second trimester or shortly thereafter you need to buck up and own it. Compassion and support - but jailing women who have abortions is about as useful as jailing potheads IMO. But once that fetus is viable - how is it not murder?

This is sick. Absolutely sick. Why are leftists such strong supporters of American abortions AND open borders? #fundamentaltransformation

What did the King of England say in Braveheart? "If we can't get them out, we'll breed them out."

This whole shit show doesn't do anything but hurt the Dems for 2020.
I have zero clue why they are choosing to do this now.
The only thing I can think of, is that they want this to make its way to SCOTUS so that they can rail on conservatives and Kav a little more to deflect.

That's why. This is as far away from 2020 as you can get. Every day they could hypothetically delay would push them closer to election day.

Not following. Candidates are starting to enter the race, and this isn't helping. SCOTUS is in a place that's not conducive to this topic. Timing is just plain bad over the next two years for this.

So I've been missing something here, I think. Is there actually a leftist call that if a newborn needs some type of intervention they are ok with the newborn not receiving the help???

As a parent, this entire thing is just sickening. All of us have listened to our third trimester baby's heartbeat, felt them wiggle, named them, and thought of them as a member of the family and our lives. That's not a non-entity "nothing" in there. That's a fully formed, living human infant that's fully viable. How can they be OK with killing that? How is this different in any meaningful way from post partum infanticide? This is no less vile and disgusting than marching people into gas chambers. The Left has lost any semblance of morality or human decency.
