Haha Seattle Mayor wants to take over chop due to the violence this weekend. Good luck with that. She ought to be criminally charged for letting it happen and they should get NO federal funding to help them.

I think some here really don’t have an idea what actually goes into inner city policing and the politics surrounding it. Distorted statistics, under reporting of crimes, pleading more serious offenses to misdemeanors etc. I’ve had a front row seat to this for 20 years. Many of the cops with multiple complaints against them aren’t racist. They are the aggressive ones that go after the quality of life crimes that inevitably lead to more serious and violent crimes. Criminals do not like being arrested oddly enough. So here they used to have the CCRB as oversight. Everyone that got arrested would file complaints against the arresting officer. It’s a game played over and over. Are there instances of brutality? Of course. Defunding isn’t the answer. Neither are some of the other ideas I’ve see thrown around, but I’m sure it was no accident that every progressive mayor and governor were talking about it at the same time. And don’t even get me started on community boards in the city. Biggest collection of morons you could ever imagine.

Not sure about much, but what I have heard and read numerous times... Cops get reported by other LEO's more times than not. That's usually why It goes unreported.
Who wants to go to court and have the police hate on you and your family daily....(not an average everyday citizen).
Internal affairs are there only resource and it's brushed under the rug more times than they want to admit.

The hypocrisy of all this is hilarious. An Atlanta Police Chief loses her job because a police officer may have used excessive force in the killing of a black male. So, some of the blame gets pinned on her. While this Mayor knowingly allowed these armed citizens to operate in public without police oversight (even making light of it publicly) and someone was killed. But it’s business as usual.

Did you read what I wrote after the part you highlighted? I’m speaking from firsthand experiences and knowledge. CCRB isn’t internal affairs. Have you ever been into an inner city neighborhood? Any idea how the streets operate? Have you witnessed and responded to crime scenes that were completely misreported to the media to maintain the false impression of safety? I’ll assume not but I’m not going to dispute what you have “heard and read numerous times”. I’ll go ahead and believe my personal experiences.

This isn't my position. I have little to no interest in participating in the social experiment Chicago and other cities plan on having once the dust settles. I work, have a family and my spare time isn't going to be consumed with figuring out how to address issues in minority communities. I think they prefer addressing issues in their own communities, so it works out.

I was thinking of the intention and status of the Camden city police. It was established by the city and Christie to eventually become an area PD, which would cut more costs. That never happened due to resistance among those communities outside of the city limits. I don't know if it ended up busting the Camden police union, too, nor if it established a pay-for-performance wage increases or method of oversight.

The New York City Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) as a citizen oversight tool has interesting data and how it substantiates complaints on their website on:
- Police Punishment vs NYPD
- Complaints
- Their investigations
- CCRB: 43 Percent of NYPD Body Cam Videos Are Partially Redacted

About 2% of all complaints are substantiated. Video cams often clear an officer, but some are substantiated. As noted, 43% have portions blacked out. FDNY indicates they "used to have the CCRB as oversight".

The Governing article and the WashPost article are linked above with WaPo years later for perspective. The Fox article is not worth the time reading.

To the bolded, color me shocked!

I did a quick review of those links. Going off that small sampling of data, it tells me two things. First that the majority of policemen are good and it's a few bad apples causing everyone to blame police in general. The second is what I've already said. Give the review boards or courts the teeth to mete out the punishment.

Last night I had a policeman stop at the house. He wanted to look at the wifes 69 Camaro. I asked how things were going. He said he no longer goes to drive thrus and only gets a bite to eat from places he knows are friendly when in uniform. He also mentioned that now when he fills up, he uses a pump on the end and keeps his head on a swivel in case he needs to get out of there. I mentioned better testing of recruits and he said that gets discussed all the time. Find a way to weed them out before they get on the force. He said he'd like all the complainers to be able to ride along for a few days to see what really goes on.

They ought to throw Bubba out of racing for trying to stir more racist tension. A pull rope on a garage door! Come on man that's bullshit

Better yet lets hear what dumb ass LeBron James has to say now?!?!?!

Not sure if this was a simple misunderstanding or a deliberate attempt to stir shit up, but if the later, wow.

Regardless, I'm perfectly fine with them banning the confederate flag.

I suspect Ol Bubba wanted to pick up some new fans.

I have no idea how someone screws up a pull string in a garage for a noose? Oh well. Happy it turned out not to be a race thing.

I'd like to think it was a misunderstanding based on heightened sensitivity right now. We'll never know. We should all be happy it wasn't a race thing. It's not surprising that the MSM jumped on the situation and shouted from the mountain tops.

Bubba called "doubters" simple minded on The View this morning. That's going to be a bitter pill to swallow.

Im with ya. I don’t think we should jump people based on intent that we know nothing about. It’s what I wish from both sides of every confrontation between differing races.

IF this really wasn't some sort of contrived gimmick, I can understand his comments. That said, he shouldn't fallen for "The View" type pearl clutching and politicization. I'm personally disappointed he even would go on that show and play the game lol.

Jemele Hill also made a complete stink and stereotyped the sport and all their fans. It's always been her go-to for as long as I can remember.

Yup. It's just really hard to assume intent. Sometimes you can assume based on history, but even then, you never really know. I'm not a NASCAR guy, but I follow sports in general. I've never seen anything bad about BW to suggest he'd do something like fake this situation. It's more plausible that it was just coincidence and misunderstanding.

Here in ATL, there are now groups of armed folks around the burnt out Wendy's. They said the cops are allowed in. WAZ?

It pisses me off that you can falsely accuse someone or give a false narrative for something that happened. I understand this goes beyond Bubba but him and his team portrayed this as racist incident at very very bad time knowing the reaction they would get. The Petty family is one of the biggest in the sport and if they played a part they should be punished. And if the nascar officials had anything todo with it being portrayed this was they should also face a punishment. It’s bullshit that their is no accountability for their actions.

And let’s face it if he was that offended he should change his name. Bubba is one of the biggest redneck names there is in this county.

Wallace, the only Black driver racing full-time in NASCAR, was informed by NASCAR president Steve Phelps early Sunday evening that a crew member on Wallace’s team had discovered the noose. Wallace — who isn’t allowed to go to the garage because of NASCAR’s coronavirus social distancing protocols — said Phelps called him and told him that he wanted to talk in person.

How would a crew member NOT recognize that a regular pull rope is not the same as a noose?

Either someone tied the already-noose-like knot into a bigger noose as a joke/message/statement etc., or someone on Bubba's team isn't paying enough attention to their surroundings.

There's a whole lot about the story that doesn't add up.

The rope has been tied that way since 2019... wouldn't a crew member be familiar and know it wasn't just re-tied that way because Bubba is in that stall?

Were the other stall ropes tied into a noose? (There is a difference between a loop and a noose, and one of the pictures floating around makes it look like it's a legit noose, and not just a pull loop)

Is Bubba's team member too on edge? Too sensitive? Or did someone say "hey why is that pull loop tied into an actual noose?" and then Nascar officials went off the deep end?

It's a shame that Bubba is gonna catch heat as having 'made it up' even though his team and Nascar had kept him distanced from the incident from the beginning, whether it was a hoax, an overreaction, a poor joke, etc.

Also from that article:

Don, the image that I have seen of what was hanging in my garage is not a garage pull,” Wallace said. “I’ve been racing all my life. We’ve raced out of hundreds of garages that never had garage pulls like that.

I agree - Bubba is gonna take the brunt of this and he truly had nothing to do with the discovery of it or the bringing it to the public's attention.

My guess is that this rope was tied into a noose as some sort of joke and never was "discovered" because no other black drivers have ever been in that garage.

ALL TALK AND NO ACTION IN MPLS.

More Gun violence in MPLS has the community asking for answers. City council Pres. Lisa Bender refusing to do interviews. MPLS city council has yet to take any action towards defunding the police despite voting to do so.
Got this from live news this AM, I will look to see if there is a link.

However both MPLS and StP have decided to end contracts with PD school resource officers.

Edit:

Per this article, there were 1600 gunfire reports/cases in MPLS. City council still calling for defunding of police but like I said haven't take any active measures.

He and Nascar are being skewered. You should see the memes on Twitter now.

One is a four end torque tire iron that says ' Bubba Wallace found a burnt cross in his garage'.

I literally burst out laughing at the picture of the cooler with snow cone cups stacked upside down that read 'someone put kkk hats by Bubba Wallace's cooler'.
