The stock is also trading off the potential of using this as a catalyst to make similar social apps with other Nintendo IPs. Also, it brings Nintendo back into the consumer spotlight. The success of this app will undoubtedly lead to kids asking their parents for an NX when it comes out.

This just flat out isn't true.

They haven't even put the social aspects in the game yet, so this is also untrue. It clearly functions well as a single-player game with minimal interaction with external players (i.e. lure modules, gyms).

No, not self-explanatory at all.

Of all of your nonsensical points, this is the worst one. Those stories won't even radar blip in a month, for the same reason texting and driving or texting and walking stories don't right now.

You just basically typed a list of random shit that has absolutely no bearing on something's current valuation, and presented it as "fact" of why it isn't valuable with no counterpoint of what you think it would be worth as a standalone asset. No wonder you couldn't hack it in finance and had to be a bean counter.
I'll bet you $20 that Nintendo is under 20,000 JPY by Christmas.

As long as a parent is willing to supervise the kid while he plays it should not be a problem at all. I would not let him wander around the neighborhood playing by himself though because you tend to be unaware of your surroundings when you play.

He won't get it. It's not really a "game" that you "play."

And 9-year-old won't understand the concept of walking around and following a map until something appears?

You underestimate the internet/app savvy of young children.

Get him a Gameboy and let him play the original Pokemon games. He will thank you for it one day.

Help!

I have been trying to sign up my kid for this for 4 days and can't get registered. Originally tried on his iPad mini ( can it be there or just phones?). Now I have been trying on my Samsung galaxy phone and we always get the message if unable to create an account try back in an hour.

My kid has been patient but 4 days to a 10 yr old is forever and he is at his wits end

Take him out for some Stone Cold Creamery. He'll forget about Pokemon.

Had nothing to do so we ventured out. Guy at the movie theatre let us in the projection room to get one. It was brazy to see so many groups of normal looking and normal acting people out doing the same. People would yell Pokémon Go. Made my son and nieces day, I admit it was a little fun.

There is only one pokestop within walking distance to my house and it's like 90 degrees out... maybe I'll play in the fall.

You guys see that you can force an Eevee evolution by nickname?

Haven't verified myself yet, but Reddit has "verified" that Sparky, Pyro and Rainer will result in corresponding Eevee evolutions.

I got a Vaporeon the other day before I found the info, otherwise I would've tried the trick for a Jolteon.

Very cool. I've got a jolteon and vaporeon so I'm definitely using this to guarantee a flareon.

Took a nice long walk through the campus where I work today on my off day.

I had some encounters with some basic stuff, but I was hoping to stock up at all the Pokestops, stock up on stardust catching shit, and maybe catch a few Eevees (they are in abundance on campus) so I could evolve one of my own.

I was pretty disappointed. The map showed several Eevees, but no matter which way I traveled, they wouldn't lock in. Same with the Psyduck I was trying to hunt, which is usually easy to spot at the lake. It was on my map, but stayed three steps away no matter what. That's how everything was.

The kicker is that there are like 20 Pokestops on campus, and I took a winding route to pass them all... only three of them worked for me. I was hoping to stock up on Pokeballs, but whenever I was in range, I'd spin the image only for it to say "try again later" and for the loading medallion to pop up and screw my GPS.

I think the servers were working for random encounters, but Pokestops and actual GPS tracking were on the fritz. I took a 5 mile hike for almost nothing (well, the greater good of my health, but Pokemon are the focus here). What a bummer.

The only thing that saved the trip for me was a random encounter with a Dragonair by the lake. He's 600 CP, but his attacks are trash. At least he's in my collection now, though.

This is how it has been for me over the last few days and I've also had a friend confirm that it's like that for him too. I think Niantic must have screwed something up in their latest update. It's crazy how many glitches and Loading screens we're all willing to battle through to catch us some pokemon. Hopefully the server situation, app freezing and all that nonsense gets better soon.

In other news, I caught an electabuzz and a kabutops last night :gbanana:

I think it's just the fact that they released then game all over Europe. The servers are just back in overload mode.

there's a pokestop at a statue outside my office building. i can stock up on pokeballs from my desk and then folks keep applying lures to the stop every hour or so. It's like shooting low level fish in a barrell

I am kind of over the game TBH. The technical problems are getting frustrating, especially when you actually find a rare Pokémon and the game freezes on you.

It was really fun for a few days but there are only so many Zubats I can run into before it becomes stale.

I think they really needed to allow you to trade Pokémon with your FB friends from the start which would actually incentivize us to keep catching the same Pokémon all the time (other than the marginal XP bump). I think the gym system is also very flawed.

I honestly could not imagine playing this game in the suburbs. Living downtown in a big city makes it 10x more fun but I think I'm close to done barring some changes to the whole game.

it's practically unplayable in rural areas, it's really only designed for folks who live in big cities.

getting repetitive always getting the same pokemon types over and over alright.

I don't mind the grind, although I did just lose a Dratini to an ill-timed map re-load. That was frustrating.

I can only assume that they have a master plan for allowing trades in the future, so I'll tough it out for now.
