So a few weeks back I was watching one of the mexico Copa A matches with my dog sleeping on the floor near me, I boo'd at something, forget the circumstance but it was surely some dive or dirty tackle by one of their players,... and Mack wakes up and "Arrwoo!" kind of mimicking me... I laughed...

we hadn't really heard her bark yet, like really bark,... but went to a park to view the fireworks yesterday and any time one of the big ones went off and there was any slight noise to it at all, we were a good distance off from the show, she'd bark so hard she'd lift herself off the ground... it was cute. She didn't go all ape like you hear with some dogs though, she'd just answer some of the bangs with a bark, otherwise super chill.

The bigger the dog, the more scared they are of fireworks,etc. generally speaking. My pugs just lay there like seasoned 'Nam vets not even noticing. Had a black lab that would hide in the bathtub the whole weekend, and a Boxer that would go under the bed.

My mom has a very tiny pomeranian poodle that flips a giant shit apparently. This dog does the whole hide in the bath tub thing too from what she tells me. For the record, I can't stand that dog.

I love big dogs. Tiny little yippers that can fit in a purse drive me nuts.

Wife and I just got this six week old female Redbone on Saturday at Redbone Days. Haven't given her a name yet. The wife wouldn't go for Ara, Rockne or Kelly. Working on Irish, but don't think she's going for it.

Recently found out my son is allergic to dogs and cats so my wife and I are trying to find them a good home. I have 2 dogs, a German Shepherd and Corgi mix named Kobe and a daschound named Phil Jackson (PJ). I'm really bummed about this because I grew up with dogs and it saddens me that my son and daughter won't be able to experience this in their lives!

I have 2 dogs, a German Shepherd and Corgi mix named Kobe and a daschound named Phil Jackson (PJ). I'm really bummed about this because I grew up with dogs and it saddens me that my son and daughter won't be able to experience this in their lives!

That sucks. Don't let anyone fool you about buying a hypoallergenic dog. There's no such thing. It's just that some produce more and some produce less than other breeds, but they all produce allergens.

My wife has been wanting a German Shepherd puppy in the worst sorta way. A few days ago I saw what I thought was the most beautiful GS I'd ever seen. When I spoke to the person and commented on their dog they said it was actually a 90% wolf/dog hybrid and gave me the number of the breeder. Absolutely stunning looking animal that was well-behaved & friendly. I've talked to the breeder and he has pups for sale that are about 85% wolf (the rest is Husky, Malamute, and German Shepherd).

When I told my wife and showed her the pics, she went nuts. "Oh my God! Yes, yes, yes!!! Lingerie, all the sex you want, another Les Paul. I've GOTTA have one of those wolves... Winter is coming!" lol

Apparently they're a lot more common than I thought. From what I've been able to find on the Internet and from talking to the breeder, they're super intelligent and well-behaved, but require a lot more daily interaction and bonding than a normal dog. Have any of you ever owned one of these or know someone who has? I don't want to end up regretting this.

I've checked the legality in SD. I'd need a permit, but they're cheap. The breeder has several pics of his with his cats. I know what you mean about that wolf stare, though. Thanks for the feedback.

One more thing: they are absolute horses with deceptive strength. My neighbor is a grown ass man, and once I saw that dog jerk the leash so hard he wiped out on the sidewalk.

I've done a ton of research on wolf hybrids. Very high risk of short/shorter lifespans and health issues like hip dysplasia.

Make great pets for most part otherwise as long as u put in the work.

A pure bred GS likely to be just as obedient and intelligent with fewer health issues IMO.

Don't GS's commonly have a lot of hip dysplasia issues too, though? I thought that was the major knock on them. I agree that one would probably be about as smart & obedient.

Most large working type dogs are prone. But pure bred dogs should have alot of that bred out. Where a canine that is 85/5/5/5 hard telling you know.

Be careful where you get it. German Shepherds are great dogs but prone to hip dysplasia and arthritis.

The dog will cost more from a breeder but you've got a better chance of a dog without hip problems from a breeder.

This is the other thing. The reason I was researching was a family friend had one when i was growing up and he had to wear one of the police training sleeves to play with his hybrid after it was full grown. If u plan on letting it in back yard 8 ft fences are recommended to contain.
