Told ya... Get one from REI so this guy ^^^^ isn't laughing at you from the next site whilst sipping scotch in his turtleneck and plaid blazer.
My single for backpacking is a Marmot that's under 2lbs. I could have bought three, 8 person tents from Target for what I paid for it.
Have you tried a hammock yet? I'll never camp in a tent again unless I'm with my family or on a mountain. They're the best.
I usually use my REI cot inside my tent when I camp in the SW. It looks like this sorta:

I do that cuz I had one of these in my bag at Glamis during Halloween a few years back.

The ban, which took effect immediately, eliminates the use of lead-based ammunition on federal lands like national parks and wildlife refuges, as well as any other land administered by the Fish and Wildlife Service. The ban is expected to have a major impact on much of the hunting that takes place on federal lands across the United States as lead-based ammunition is widely legal and used throughout the country.
What do you hunters think of this?
Obama Official Issues Ammunition Ban for Federal Lands on Last Day
First of all, it's not "widely used". Lead is bad for waterways and the environment. He didn't ban ammunition, he banned lead ammunition, which most duck hunters don't even use anymore. I hunt and have never seen someone shoot lead. Ducks Unlimited has been pushing for a federal ban on lead for years.
It's a non story.
Even deer and other big game? This doesn't sound like it's a ban on lead shot, it sounds like a ban on ALL lead ammunition.First of all, it's not "widely used". this, might make a difference for small game hunters, but non-lead ammunition for bird hunting has been the norm.

ETA: How common is hunting on federal land as opposed to state or private land, anyways? Not much federal land out here in the small states.
Who manages the licenses, tags, stamps, etc.? The state the lands are in, or the feds themselves?Exactly.
It's not common or necessary. Every shot I know of comes in steel.
Depending on your state, it depends. There is plenty of federal land hunting, for now, until Trump sells it off.

In other "outdoor sports" topics, is anyone else dealing with an absolutely bullshit warm winter? The ski resorts are getting wrecked.
We had a really dry 2016 and there are a lot of people here with well water. The rain has been enough to replenish the reservoirs but the wells need the flash irrigation of snowmelt to clear muddy deposits. It's not looking great for those people. We have gotten a lot of rain, so it's just cold and wet. Rivers blown out, so you can't fish. Can't ski cuz there's no snow.
Out west is getting hammered this year though. They really needed it too.
Amazon deal of the day is 30% off a bunch of Coleman crap. Probably going to get a cot and a camp grill.

Lmao "portable"? That thing is enormous.

Okay so here's a bigger dilemma. With the second Mini Wiz on the way and me looking to do more camping to explore these here United States, I'm looking for a new vehicle. When I was a kid, my family did all of our camping in a pop-up tent trailer, so that's what I'm looking for. Most of them appear to be about 1,500 lbs dry. Most of the minivans on the market have a tow capacity of ~3,600 lbs and they're priced 20-25% less than the SUVs with similar specs. I want three rows of seats and don't have the budget for a Suburban/Tahoe/Yukon. A certified Grand Garavan with all the options and about 15K miles is like $19,000. Thoughts?

Yeah but I don't want my grill to be attached to it.It's on wheels and the size of a cooler. You don't take a cooler camping?
Well, I am. So...You look like a guy camping out of a minivan.
Yeah but I don't want my grill to be attached to it.
My main campground is on the beach, to which I'd want to bring my cooler alone and no grill. Those wheels would be useless on sand. Why? You prefer to lug two things around?
You do see those round things on the bottom, right? Thems are called wheels.
