Not sure where you pulled these stats from but both ESPN and cfbstats.com show NCST rushing defenses as

Also their offensive rush is 116-832-12 with a 5.01 yd/rush

I took the stats from the teams cfbstats.com HOME PAGE but incorrectly posted UNC instead of NCS as you correctly figured out. Reps!

Now I'll edit my post and really confuse the followup posters. Mea culpa!

It's a crapshoot because so much of what makes our offense great is the passing game and the weather conditions suck.

At the same time, I think our offensive line will relish the chance (if its given to them) to just really ram it down someone's throat. Plus, I think the defense is going to be pretty good when they are not on their heels, considering the real issues are at pass rush and safety.

And I think there is a 0% chance the game is moved. The NC State people won't be able to bring themselves to part with any $.

We haven't performed well collectively under optimal conditions, so the crappy weather could be a huge benefit. Definitely slows the game down for the defense.

I know how well Kizer's played, but I also know that the O line has been extremely inconsistent, in addition to the TEs, especially in run blocking. Jamie at ISD just posted an article a few days ago detailing their struggles. NC State may have the best defensive line that ND faces all season and vs a maddeningly inconsistent O line, I think it's not crazy to harbor doubts.

I corrected my original post where I had cut and pasted University of North Carolina's Rushing Offense and Defense from CFBStats.com instead of NCS's data. I've revised my comments in my original post accordingly.

NCS has similar Offensive Rushing numbers to UNC's, 4.79 versus 5.01 yds/carry, but their Defensive Rushing Stats are about a yard and a half more stingy at 3.47 rather than 5.02.

I share your ND OLine inconsisent comment, See my Edited original post) but note that despite 3 new starters ND had rolled up nearly 500 yards per game of Total Offense with a dominant passing game using the entire field with a multitude of receivers and rushing well outside the middle. ND's offense hasn't been the problem averaging 40 points, and ND's played much better opponents to date. I've looked at who ND's opponents have played and who NCS's opponents have played plus I got to see a late night replay of the NCS Wake Game. We could lose. We could lose to anyone left on our schedule but I don't think it will be against the Wolfpack. Harry's OLine's chemistry will increase with each game and the third stringers we were playing on defense are being replaced by younger players just getting up to speed with Division 1 game speed. Make no mistake are planned first string players are still out but the younger guys are coming of age. Midseason is when that tends to happen. Now if Hudson can improve the angles so the one arm attempts by prospective tacklers are better positioned for a two arm tackle there will be significant improvement, even from what we saw in the second half against Syracuse.

Have not seen a report from schools or ACC.

https://weather.com/weather/5day/l/USNC0558:1:US

Rain throughout Friday and Saturday. 3/4 inch to an inch each day. Wind 10-20 . The Five forecast only has hourly forecast to 5 am. By noon today game time hours will start showing up in this weather report.

Hell that's not to bad. As long as the wind stays in the 10-20 mph range i think we will be good to go.

Raleigh forecast.

Rain starting around midnight tonight through the weekend. The hourly chart shows continuous rain some light the rest not. Doesn't show a break at all. Two to three inches. Wind around 10 mph pre game rising to 15 mph during the game. I assume these are outer bands of the storm. It's reminding me of Clemson without the "good" weather.

Josh Adams at the end...

Can't tell if intentional no tackle, or just broken tackle...

According to the latest forecast, the heavy rain isn't predicted to start until shortly after the game, but they are calling for 100%. winds around 15-18mph. Put Kizer under center and crank up the run game.

https://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/USNC0558:1:US

Hoping to see a heavy dose of zone read into a stacked box for no gains. I'd love to know who calls these plays, Denbrock, Kelly or Sanford.

Kizer was 19/34 for 321 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INT, at Clemson last year, in what was probably worse weather than is expected tomorrow night. I doubt ND will throw back to "3 yards and a cloud of dust". They'll just throw shorter, more high percentage throws and take fewer deep shots, I would think.

Extra pair of upper endzone seats in the ND section - PM me if interested.

I am more worried about wind than rain. Sustained 20mph in second half looks likely. Have heard some knocking on tightness of Kizer's spiral which does not bode well for those conditions.

Can't wait to sit in the rain for three hours!

Since the parking pass was ~100, I'm dragging my family to a few hours of sideways rain action in the parking lot as well. Should be a fun day...getcha ponchos ready!

IF the defense builds on their 2nd half performance from last game, our Offense keeps doing what they're doing and we don't have multiple weather-related turnovers, I think we beat these guys by 10+.

Backyard Bistro across the street is the host of the ND Club of Eastern NC official tailgate - big ass tent set up and sounds like 300 signed up with TVs for those that chicken out. I think $65/adult and $25/kid includes food and drink. Think we are going to Uber to that location rather than mess with parking.

DAMMIT!! Hour by hour the wind gets worse through tomorrow evening -of course the heaviest rain at game time.

Someone explain to me if this is true or false, please:

1) Last year we had a big play run game
2) Last year a huge portion of our passing game was Will Fuller
3) We have 3 RBs and a O-line that people respected in the off-season
4) There was no proven WRs waiting to replace WF's production
5) Teams thought it made sense to try to focus on our run game early in the season
6) We've responded by opening up the passing game, and score close to 40 a game
7) Plus, our defense has given up a ton of points, making us rely on the passing game more

SO....

Maybe some of the ineffectiveness in our run game this year (as far as passing the eyeball test), is more about Kelly taking what the other team is giving us, and leaning on the pass game, then the running game really being substandard.

I thought we'd get to put that theory to the test this weekend, since I think everyone will be focusing on our passing attack from here on out. However, the rain is going to undermine that.

Too logical. Doesn't compute.
