Pyne really did play a great game. I don't recall many, if any, major errors that stood out. The kid is settling in. He made some BIG throws and was going through his reads well.
The commentators (which were often so bad, consistently calling the down and distance wrong), did seem to accurately assess how comfortable Pyne looked. That's good news for the Irish.
A few other nit-picky things:
1) Tyree was wide open on a drag for the 2-point conversion that he locked in on Mayer.
2) Idk if it's a read or QB decision, but on the first half stop at the 2-yard line, he could have pulled the dive and passed to a wide-open Salerno who was motioned across to walk it in.
3) Don't know if it was a miscommunication, but he could have hit Diggs on the slant for a wide-open touchdown. But he threw it outside instead either to Mayer or thinking Diggs was going out. Another one on the pre-snap look he should know Diggs was going to be the throw.
4) There was a play early (first drive maybe) where they motioned Tyree and did a dive with Diggs. It's another one where if he sees the defense at pre-snap, and then as he's handing is reading the defense, he should have pulled and thrown to Tyree. No LB followed and it was one blocker on a DB on the outside. Instead of a no-gain on the play. Not sure if it's an RPO or not, but it should have been.
