I can't stand shit talkers and such, I never do it out right but you best believe I take it serious enough and I'm still not big enough to just bite my tongue when attacked like that...

I would have instantly dropped something like, "Yeah take it from a Vols fan to be the expert on getting your ass whipped by Bama....." in response...

I know and I feel the same way. But hearing it so much here at the Buckle of the SEC, I have come accustomed to just laughing it off.

They talk more about how we talked about them than we ever talked.... If that makes any sense. Sheldon Day is going to smash some foos.

I've been thinking the same. Hopefully they get overly aggressive on the outside and we're able to take advantage.

I am insanely jacked for this game but incredibly nervous as well.

Anyone want to explain what happened to have Rochelle out as a CB against that WR bunch set? Because we're going to see a lot more WR quick passes than we've seen in the past and I hope that gets worked out.

BVG heard through the grapevine that you prefer he not drop Sheldon Day into coverage so he decided to play Rochelle man up against a WR instead. He just can't make you happy, can he?

“They’re talking a lot, obviously they don’t know what we do down here in Death Valley, so I’m looking forward to this,” Kearse said. “Looking forward to meeting a running back in the hole, catching Will Fuller on the post, whatever it takes.”

Looks forward to RB....meets him instead:

what happened was that was a bunch formation however it was a tackle who went out...so rochelle's responsibility was for him to go out...it was done as a wrinkle from their coach to bring confusion which it did initially however i forget who recognized this and got him into position...kvr then came up and made the stop

Good stuff, I'm jealous. I'm planning to go to the 2016 Bama vs LSU game at death valley next year. I'm obviously Irish, and my friend is Buckeye, so we're going to visit NO and take in our first ever SEC game just for the experience. Would be awesome if you and your wife were there to tailgate with!

mmmm hmmm..................

Joe - can't quote - This just means you'd be best friends with him since you're only friends with me, and crappy opponent's teams. You probably want to wife him already.

I am worried about an early mistake by Kizer that creates enough momentum early for Clemson that ND never recovers. Hence my prediction.

So no bubble screen on the first play....

I never understood the teams that design bubble screens or any WR screen where the throw completely stops the WR momentum or actually makes them come back for the ball... I understand bad throws here and there but with ND it's clearly designed that way... look at Oregon or a majority of the Big12 schools, they know how to use a WR screen, design the play where the throw is slightly ahead of the WR to they can run downhill the second they get the ball in their hands.. no stop, catch, adjust, then build momentum... the later is just far too slow developing for my tastes.

Yeah, I'd prefer Amir/Sanders motion out of a two back set to a side where there's already 2/3 WRs bunched, and catch the ball running sideways/forward.

Screens are constraint plays-- they're designed to punish a defense that is aggressively selling out against the run. But they only work under well under such conditions, so screens generally aren't a part of any team's "base" offense.

ND hasn't been great at them recently (though Fuller has housed a few over the last couple seasons); but we don't need to be great at them. Just competent is fine, because the goal of a screen is to force the defense into playing honest; not to rack up a ton of yards.

I get that, and have worked with WRs in a spread offense... I just prefer plays of any type that don't negate any directional momentum that may be won by the play design... just me.

I've seen Clemson lay an egg in too many big games before. I'm not worried... ND will show up on the road and punch them in the mouth. ND usually doesn't lay eggs in big games (Bama doesn't count because of the extreme talent differential).

ND controls this game and gets a 10 point victory. I plan to put 15 trillion on it.

I hear what you are saying but there is such a thing as conference pride. Team first-conference second. Sounds crazy but it is what it is. And I don't really see the SEC as being much different than any other conference in that regard. It's just in football the last decade or so the SEC has been the conference that's had the most success. It's a lot like the B1G and ACC in basketball. They thump their chest when their conference is winning. I don't see a problem with any of that. Yes it goes against conventional wisdom, but that's how it is.
Some pride in your conference isn't wrong or bad, but that only goes so far. You don't to talk s**t if you cheer for Kentucky. You can be happy you play in the MIGHTY SEC, but if you're not winning then you're not really relevant. UK is not adding to the aura of the SEC, neither is Vandy.

I might be a diehard ND fan, but I'm also a big UT fan, and you make yourself sound really stupid talking poorly of this program. 6 National Titles, 13 Conference Championships, Top 10 in wins all time,3rd in bowl appearance, 6th in bowl wins, #1 in home-field win percentage in current stadium. They also are waiting a lot less time for their next Natty than we are...just sayin.
As for Tennessee, sorry if it offends you, but no one fears playing UT at the moment. When I called them a "choke artist program" I'm referring to the past 15-18 years. They won a title the year after Manning left, but what have they done since? Since then they've developed a reputation similar to that of UGA or Clemson: a big time program that folds in the spotlight (and to be fair ND for long stretches after Holtz has this label and it is a label we are still the process of shaking). Even when Manning was there they failed to deliver the goods all 4 seasons. Manning was 0-4 against UF and those teams all under-performed.

in all my years living in Big Ten country, I have never heard of Big Ten pride.

I could be wrong, but I think UT also has the 'bama math' going on with their Natty's, I'm pretty sure they only have 2 or 3 widely recognized titles...

That's completely backwards. Red Sox fans don't cheer for the Yankees in the postseason because of "American League East pride." Think any Steelers fan is rooting for the Ravens in the postseason?
Eh...even though I detest a lot of the "my favorite team is the SEC" types even I can see the weak logic at work here. In the NFL there is no recruiting, no rankings, national perception doesn't matter, etc. I can see why in CFB it is in a team's best interest to have their conference be perceived as strong. Look no further than the preseason rankings every year or the poll from earlier this year when 10 SEC teams were ranked for proof of this. Was Auburn ever really a top 10 team? Hell no, but the teams that whoop their ass benefit from the perception that they were, that bounce in the polls is invaluable.

Look at the Gators, I'm a Florida fan on the side due to marrying into a clan of UF lovers, but do they really deserve to be ranked? Would a team with a similar resume from the B1G or the ACC be ranked? Not likely, yet Ole Miss now gets to go on the road and face a ranked opponent. So, I'm on board with teams wanting their conferences to be strong.

What I'm not on board with are fans of other programs thumping their chests at other teams and acting like Alabama winning the NC meant they won it too. I already didn't like UGA fans, but their behavior after the 2012 NCG cemented my intense hatred for them. They were jumping around like they won the title and talked far more s**t than the Alabama fans. Alabama fans were actually pretty cool. I guess they knew how to "act like they've been there before," whereas UGA fans (having not "been there" in 35 years) did not.

Wife's 30th birthday is Saturday and I just learned that we will be out of town during the game which I will not able to watch. On top of that we will be in the heart of Buckeye country. Please say a prayer for me to have patience.

Courtesy of Jayron Kearse, "All the defensive backs saw it," Kearse said. "We actually were talking about it in a group message. We all saw it. Hey, I'm ready for the challenge. And I hope he is ready for the challenge. Because we're going to bring it."

"They're headed for a rude awakening. They haven't faced nobody like us. We'll be the best team they play all year, hands-down.

"And they've never seen (an environment) like this, not even close. They won't face one through the season."

Side note, its pretty interesting playing against some of these really talented prospects that we recruited pretty hard just a few years back.
They're reallllllllllllllllly stretching to make Fuller's tweet "bulletin board material." As it is, I haven't heard hardly a peep from our boys (other than Fuller's tweet which sounded more like he was excited and KVR's non-trash talk), but my god those kids from Clemson sure know how to run their mouths all day long.

My wife's job requires her to work a bunch of community events, this weekend is the local Fall Festival that is always pretty cool, she's working it... she asked if the girls and I would join her for a while... I checked the time of the game, no conflict found,... "Sure babe, we will be there to support ya!"

(Lord knows had it been during the game I'd have dropped her real quick.........)

It wouldn't be so bad but if I do end up watching it will be in Ohio St territory.

PLEASE, NO bubble screen on first play. Run the ball! I might be talked into the first play being a deep ball to Fuller where he is the only one that can reach the ball. This should losen their D up a little.

that play is generally one that i like a lot....however being on the road, back up qb w/ little experience...that could be a HUUUUGE momentum swing should it backfire and be picked, or kizer hit and fumble.....although that momentum could smack them in the mouth and they may never get back up...damn double edge swords
