I think playing Umass is better for us than a bye week. More live reps for Kizer in what SHOULD BE an easy game. Clemson will be loaded to bear for us, obviously the AD circled ND the minute they booked the game setting up that bye week.

Yes and no. Yes in the fact that it gives Kizer some much needed live reps. No in the fact that the risk of the dreaded injuries exist. ND needs to jump out early and hammer UMass and get the starters some much needed rest.

absolutely agree with this. DK needs the reps, AZ needs some experience, OL and WRs need to get in synch with DK. Our injury replacements and everyone else for that matters need to build some confidence and gel.

BTW the bars close at midnight on Saturday. So get your drinking in before then. They are not open Sundays either.

I"ll likely end up being the DD like I was at the GT game, so not a huge deal. I would have liked to stop in for one cocktail with my ND gear on lol. Looks like I'll need to stock a little extra in the cooler back at Sadlers Creek :)

I'd take the bye if given a choice. Rest > game time experience for Kizer IMO, because Kizer is just one piece (albeit important one), and he can still improve with a week's of live practice reps.

That Clemson D is real, FYI. Their offense might be sporadic, but they have some real athletes on defense, even with all of the replacements.

are you serious? I'm so upset that I won't be able to be that Notre Dame guy in the campus bar after we win.

Still looking for a lead on tickets btw

Ditto on tickets. Anyone know what the scalping scene is like at Clemson? Stubhub is surprisingly not as bad as I thought this game would be, lots of lower sidelines under $400 - can't stand they changed their fees so that you don't see full cost until buying though.

I think UMASS, with their preference to pass, is the perfect warmup game for Clemson.

If you want to show your ass somewhere after ND wins the after-parties are in the woods.

Bars....pffft.

I am trying but no one is budging here. I work with a bunch of Clemson grads and thery are all going.

They haven't played a good offense yet. What makes you say this?

I was about to say "Louisville is no slouch, right?", but then I looked it up.

#103 in the country in total offense... woof...

Koon... Clemson D is no better than any D we've played so far. They were incredibly good last year, and they lost almost all of those impact players.

Yea, they've recruited well the last few years on D so undoubtedly there is some talent. However, we can all attest to talent doesn't always equal success. I haven't seen anything thus far that would make me think its something significantly above average as his post suggests. I'm more worried about the Offense. Like Cack mentioned, they run some quick passing game stuff that we haven't done well with recently and they have much more talented players than we've seen in those scenarios.

I'm going to say Clemson has a lot better D than anyone we've faced thus far. They still have some kinks to work out, but their recruiting has been phenomenal the last several years. I know they lost a lot from last years, but they have the horses. They're giving up less than 15 per game, and held a Petrino offense to 17 at Louisville. I know Louisville is not top of the food chain, but I'll tip my hat to anyone that keeps them under 20 on the road. I posted a while back, I think in this thread, the position rankings (recruiting) over the last several years. They have the talent, and better athletes than we have faced thus far.

Sporadic is being very nice. Watching the game vs Louisville was painful. Idk about anyone else but I wasn't impressed with Watson at all. He reminded me alot of Devin Gardner, get flustered at any pressure and his accuracy plunges. I saw him throw several balls at his receivers feet when the rush came.

Injuries to an already shaky line bodes well for ND. Day should have a huge game.

I'll be there, along side my Clemson friend in all of his orange, going to his sister's tailgating and she is a Clemson grad to beat...will be decked out in all my Notre Dame gear as every game day. Can't wait, never been to Death Valley before...GO IRISH!

I went to a day game versus Wake Forest and Death Valley is still the loudest stadium I have been in. I can only imagine how loud it will be at night. Looking forward to it!

I checked Stubhub last night and all lower level tickets were $400+....If anyone finds them cheaper, let me know. We have some, but not enough to cover the group.

I always found for a football game you don't need to sit in the lower level. If you sit between the 20's in the last row you still get a great view.

To everyone who said Clemson's defense is nothing special, I hope you're right. I know Louisville isn't great this year, but Clemson was all over them and flying around the field. They have an elite corner and their DL seemed really disruptive. Yes it was Louisville, but they looked like the real deal on defense. They past the eye test for me, which is right about 60% of the time.

Elite corner? Never heard of him before
