The thing that gives me hope is UTAH actually passed pretty good against USC. They had throwing plays of 33, 50, 40, 37, 29, and 16 against USC. I think if we start off running and run well and mix in some home runs we should be good.

U$C is going to stack the box and force the Irish to create a hole or make Wimbush pass. It is pretty obvious the passing game is D rated at best.

I'll take those odds. Honestly I'm more concerned about our passing defense than our passing offense. We've not been tested by a good QB yet, and if we don't pressure Darnold he'll pick us apart.

IF the Irish come out and do what they did to Mich St - basically set up the run with the pass, it could be different.

Some schools tweet out a schedule at beginning of year on what colors for what games I believe.

Notre Dame has never tried to coordinate colors in the stadium, as far as I know. They can't even settle on a primary color (Blue? Green? Gold?). Why start now?

I, for one, believe this is driven largely by the bookstore. They sell more stuff that way.
Back in the Willingham years he actually tried to encourage people to wear green, and to make "The Shirt" - which most students wear, especially back then, making the student section, at least, one color - consistently green instead of its usual blue or earthy tones.

That got torpedoed when someone realized that if they made The Shirt the same color every year, people would stop buying a new one every year. I think as a compromise they agreed to make The Shirt in multiple sizes, after 20 years of it only being available in a baggy mens large. Most women I know, and smaller guys like myself, were grateful for that, at least. Small blessings.

yes but his replacement Christian Rector leads the Pac12 in sacks. He plays with his hand on the ground though as opposed to Gustin who played stand up DE/OLB.

I think a lot has to do with weather as well. It's easy for a southern school to sell a $15 t-shirt to a stadium full of people. When half of our games are 50 degrees and below, it becomes a matter of coordinating everybody's coats and sweatshirts, which is much more difficult and expensive.

Not to sound foolish but is this real? I always wondered how other schools got colors to happen but is ND for real? I am going and did not at all plan on bringing my green wear. If the stadium could actually become green I am down. I just can't remember the last time they tried this and if it worked.

It's actually really simple (at least at PSU for whiteouts). They print "Wear White" on the tickets. Then they push a social media campaign as well. This works because the whiteouts are identified before the season based on opponent. At this point pretty much everyone just wears white to PSU games regardless.

I'm actually surprised ND hasn't made some effort to push a color. The social media team does a good job of everything else in my opinion.

Texas Tech for example, has it on the ticket for planned ones.

The athletic department has done unplanned ones via social media as well.

That's what they do at NDSU as well. Put it on the ticket and in the newspaper. The Tennessee thing is cool, but other than that, I think it looks way better with one solid color.

Green would look good. Navy would look like trash.

More often than not people will waive them around and it puts a single color into every persons hand. Don't tell me ND couldnt afford it either. The tiered pricing delta for these night games should easily cover costs.

This is actually a really interesting idea. Make the USC/Stanford game a green-out every year and then decide on what other big home game and make it a wear blue or wear gold game. Gets the bookstore the sales because there are multiple colors while also putting it out there so people can plan. It would also add a layer of tradition with the USC/Stanford matchup probably always being a night game with a green-out and the other night game or big day game being a different color. Let the other games be whatever because it will also help hide opposing fans wearing other colors in the stands.

Yep, they'll use Georgia's blueprint. I don't believe USC's D is as fast as Georgia's though, so we could have some success running outside if the WR's block well enough.



PSU does whiteouts in the snow. Just buy a t-shirt big enough to fit over a coat or jacket. I don't think the blue hairs would mind doing a green, blue or gold out.

They did that for USC in 2011. Nobody* used them.

I think the reason ND doesn't try some version of a green-out is because the home stadium crowd lacks interest in such things.
