By far, the worst part of 2:30 games is losing an hour of tailgating.

Yeah, but you can get there at 8am, and there's nothing to say you can't start your drinking then. That's plenty of time to tailgate!

Like going to the beach and tailgating has no 'time-frame' for anything. You go to either one at 9am and guaranteed - somebody is drinking and throwing a Frisbee or football.

Watch out now-this is a rivalry to these guys

Always has been.

I remember back in 2015 Tyler Boyd talked some trash about the Irish and having this game circled on their calendar each year. I told him that's old news for the Irish, but it's a shame no one has Pitt circled on their calendar.

This is true, and I was there at 8am on Sep 15, but it was a ghost town; we were the first in the lot. Mind you, I don't tailgate at the ND Stadium Lot, but still, the party didn't really start rolling until 10:00 or so.

We did get lucky and ran into a group from Madison, WI. Those dudes could party.

Remember when all RichRod had to do was win a home gave vs their rival and they would play for the BCS NC? That idiot gets upset by the Stache and Lesticles’ 2-loss LSU Tigers back their asses into a BCS NC.

Here’s what former WVU FB Owen Schmitt had to say about that game:

There was a lot of hype, and then it just seemed like every week, shit was just falling into place. You know what I mean? And teams were losing that needed to lose for us to move up, and it was happening. And then you get to the fucking last game of the season and blow it against the shittiest fucking team in the fucking world.

Can’t speak for the rest of the ND fanbase, but I know I’ve uttered similar statements about ND in the past 20 years.

To piggyback on Irishize post... want to feel bad about this game? Read this article on Pitt routinely beating title contending teams they have no business even competing with.

https://www.sbnation.com/college-football/2018/10/11/17949868/pitt-notre-dame-upset-history

This game shouldn’t scare one single ND fan but b/c of that crazy history, ND fans will probably have to stomach a frustrating first half before ND pulls away. CFB is absolutely nuts.

Everything I’ve read has CBK saying all the right things in regards to this match up. Now it’s a matter of a bunch of 18-22 year olds executing the game plan.

While Pitt was a national power in early part of the 20th century (8 claimed NCs from 1915-1937), they were only a true national power from the late 70s to early 80s under Johnny Majors & then Jackie Sherrill. Majors led them to a natty in 1976 & Sherrill led them to three straight 1-loss seasons.

Since then they’re impact in the world of CFB has been as an underdog known for ruining perfect seasons &/or National Champion bids.

That WVU team was a 4 TD favorite at home vs Pitt. Rich Rod was responsible for seismic changes in the CFB landscape in that era as in 2006 he agreed in principle to accept the Bama job (a claim he denies) before opting to stick w/ WVU after another salary bump. That opened the door for Nick Saban & the rest is history.

So, I'm assuming Narduzzi has his corners play press coverage and dare us to beat them deep? Should be a good test for Book and the receivers. Anyone watch any Pitt games this year?

I was reassured by some of the rural, flannel wearing, John Deere humpers around here that Notre Dame will handle Pitt. Guy at the gas station says, "Yuns should win". Thanks Cleetus.

They've played 2 good teams this year and they were taken behind the woodshed both times.

Honestly I'm not worried about Pitt at all I think we put up close to 50. They might score close to 30 if we decide to play a lot of 3rd stringers by the 4th, but this game will be over by midway in the 3rd. Their entire offense is built on running the ball and their horrible at passing. Our strength is stopping the run, wouldn't be surprised if you see us end up with a team high for sacks or TFL on the year

LMAO. Brought the Ol' Girl back by request of my friend, ulukinatme.

I have another one, if you remember, of some older hick standing on the side of what appears to be a barn with lets just say a full on adult rabbit pelt for a snatch if you'd like that as well. I believe that to be ban worthy on here.

I was in the stadium in 76 when Pitt was ranked #1 or #2. The first thing I noticed was how long the grass was in an attempt to slow down Tony Dorsett. First play from scrimmage Dorsett is stopped for no gain. Second play Dorsett goes about 70 yards untouched for a TD. So much for the grass slowing him down. Pitt rolled in that game and won the NC.

Most years past, I'd worry about Pitt. Not this year, Pitt is hot garbage. Losing their starting middle linebacker only makes matters worse. ND -20.5 is the play of the week....With Va Tech -5.5 right behind them.

Listened to the II podcast today. Prister just called it like it is and said “Narduzzi is emotinally unstable on the sideline”

I love it. He’s not wrong.

I don't care how Pitt is playing this year, they almost always get up for this game. I'll worry about Pitt until I don't have to worry about Pitt.
