Norvell testing positive may be the least of their worries watching Tech play today.

FSU's offense could do absolutely nothing against the Jackets and a week later, GT is getting absolutely GASHED by Central Florida. FSU had barely 300 yards of total offense and 13 points, while UCF put up 660 (yes, that is not a typo) yards and 49 points in Atlanta.

Miami looks like a really mediocre team, but I can see them blowing FSU out again this year, they are just THAT bad.

But in all reality, I hope MN comes out okay.

Miami looks pretty good actually. They have size and speed on both sides of the ball, a good stable of running backs and an experienced, athletic QB that can make all the throws.

Nah. They're taking advantage of Louisville's absolutely abysmal defense.

I watched Miami's back gash Louisville and could envision Kyren Williams or Tyree do much worse.

Not to mention that Louisville must've set some sort of record for busted assignments tonight. I think they had back to back busted coverages for TD's.

It was a complete mess.

We should absolutely push them around on both sides.

What will our practice schedule for this game look like? That adds an extra layer of concern for this game.

Based on what I saw last night, I'm not concerned, because it looks like Florida State hasn't practiced at all this year.

I get that they're suppose to be bad, but how are they THIS bad!?

With two weeks to focus on them, Coach will get us ready. We just need to come out angry and physical after the "lay-off."

... and, although I'll accept being wrong, I still think that we really hurt Duke. They played both their later opponents strongly early and then just collapsed as the quarters passed them by. My bottomline here is: I think that we are a bit of a physical monster whether or not we are flashy enough for some. This could mean, wins without "beauty."

My concern is the team will come out rusty like week one. Week two they got the rust off, but because of two weeks off I fear they will come out slow and rusty...

But I can't imagine a better opponent for us given the circumstances. FSU is BAD in every facet of the game. They blew a lead at home against a terrible GT team and just got trounced by Miami, didn't even show up.

ND should be fine. To OMM point, we are built to take care of teams like this. If the OLine is healthy, we should be able to run all over them and control the LOS. Might not be sexy with the rust you allude to, but we should take care of business over 4 quarters.

Gentlemen, if we relax here at IE, and admit with Coach that "winning is hard", we will have ugly success and feel good about it this season. Pray that Book and Williams and Hamilton and JOK and the lines stay healthy --- this is not really THAT much to ask --- and opponents will definitely "show up", but after the games, they'll wish that they hadn't.

Our team already looks like it knows how to play football, whereas most of the other teams this year don't yet seem to get it. FSU will give us what they've got to give, but that will not be enough. Trust Lea to keep the lid on the kettle, and Book, Williams, Tremble and Company to win the scoreboard.

We're already at "5", with THREE SEC teams ahead of us. At least one of those will go --- probably two. "Just win, baby."

Avery Davis could start at QB against FSU and I’d still expect a 3 score victory. They’re that bad

What's the over/under on how long it takes to slide OSU above us now that the B10 has football on the schedule...??

All of that stuff is irrelevant --- it's CLEMSON folks. Just keep winning the others and who-the-he!l cares about OSU? IT'S CLEMSON!!!!!!

Does anyone seriously think that if we beat Clemson we're NOT in the Top Four? ... or are people cowering away giving up that game before it's even played and hoping to slide in the back door?

I don't care how we win the "other" games. Just win them. Then we have our shot. ... and our Big Boys won't be cowed.

I think my biggest concern is beating Clemson regular season, losing to them in the ACC championship game, then being left out for a second SEC team because of the SEC bias.

So how many players we think we gonna be down against FSU? As it stands, we would have been down 39 against Wake. Those that tested positive prior to the 23rd (I believe 12 players) will likely be able to get a full week of practice. Every positive test, if healthy, will be available vs FSU as their 10 day quarantine would be up, but may not have enough practice/conditioning time to be fully available. Some in isolation will be able be available, but some still out likely. It is still looking like we will be down 15-20 players against FSU.

I guess it all depends on who is out. Did I read Book was in quarantine? Or am I making that up?

This also assumes it is now contained. If there are any more positives within the program, we will likely have to postpone due to positives and contact tracing.

Agreed. Sadly, I don't see Oct 10 happening. Hopefully Lax or somebody has better news.

we can't play with 39 guys out that's for sure, but that number could go up or down in a week. Probably up would be my guess.

Big question, which we don't know the answer to but the program does is how many of them are sick? And how sick? And are they getting it because they play football?

We can't put people's health at risk.

Take this for what it's worth, but it seems that despite testing positive, virtually all of them are asymptomatic. Your last question is the bigger issue, because the brass doesn't know what caused the most recent spike, which means they can't take measures to protect against it happening again. Thus the extreme precautions with quarantine and isolation. Let's hope they figure it out soon.

.

The only reason I disagree with you is because I don’t think they’d make an announcement about resuming conditioning if they thought the number was going to go up. The two positives from USF week can actually return by Wednesday at the latest depending on when they tested positive. Hopefully they actually have it contained, no more positives, and the positive stay asymptomatic.

Notre Dame's COVID-19 numbers grow, but Oct. 10 date with FSU still in play — for now
https://www.indystar.com/story/spor...9-numbers-grow-fsu-still-play-now/3568440001/

Six days after putting on an indefinite hold for all football activities beyond Zoom meetings, Notre Dame on Monday released its latest COVID-19 testing numbers.

With slightly fuzzy context.

What we do know from the six-sentence prepared statement sent out from the athletic department’s P.R account via Twitter is that there are 25 players in isolation as of Monday because of positive tests and 14 others in quarantine as the results of contact tracing.

According to team physician Dr. Mark Leiszler, there were 18 positive tests among the 273 administered between Tuesday and Sunday. Seven of the positives came from the group that had been previously quarantining.

Are they going to have to go back to small town high school ball, like players playing both offense and defense? Seriously, this sucks, but what do you do? I almost feel like this year shouldn't count against the eligibility rules. Disregard it, and give everyone an extra year of eligibility. Is that too crazy?
