Sure would be relaxing to sit home next week and watch Clemson w/ Tlaw playing while 8-0 ND rests/recovers/prepares during their bye week. Beat BC!

Rewatching the game. Not sure why we're not talking about the play of the year, aka Bramblett tackling Travis Etienne in the open field.

I hope this thread gets bumped once a week for eternity. Wtg Golden. Per my DVR reminder that will reoccur on Saturday at 11:45pm, I will be on the lookout for this play.

Listened to the Clemson Pawcast. Still no respect-took 50 minutes into it for the casters to state ND won the trenches.

Should play that on repeat in the locker room from now until the CCG.

ND is dangerous at this stage. They truly believe they can compete and win. They haven't had this type of confidence since back in the day.

It is really hard to beat a good team twice. we'll have our work cut out for us. if we win again we honestly can't really ever say BK isn't elite. Not sure what adjustments we have to make because I know they'll have something ready for us, but I expect our offense will have to be much more efficient in order to win again.

That's true. Has long been the case that if the stars were aligned properly, ND would have a good showing but lose at the end.

Getting a win against them hopefully unlocked the next level.

We need a similar game plan, however, someone has to account for the TE. UNC was easier to shut down because they don't utilize the TE. Just when you think you have Clemson stopped they slip their TE uncovered down the seam. We have to hold Etienne down, pick our poison right?

Stopping Etienne is absolutely 1A on the game plan. You can deal with a couple TE receptions. Unless our offense converts on most opportunities we don't beat Clemson without bottling up Etienne again.

I am far from an elite football mind, but i would think the plan is generally to stop Etienne again and then the poison decision is whether we are willing to give up some shots downrield by not ceding underneath stuff or do we want to sit deep and make them go underneath coverage.

Really interested in seeing how much of a difference T Law makes, because that backup was a dude.

Still think the biggest question mark is how ND does against Clemson's D in round 2. They were missing some starters, I think they will have those guys back. On the other hand, ND left a lot of points on the field.

Get in there, play confident, win the LOS again, we should have a solid shot at winning again.

Unleash Lenzy and Johnson... let them have a Robert Hughes vs USC type of hero game. Similar to Avery Davis' catch that setup his TD vs Clemson. ... that moment will live on forever and I couldn't love it more.

4 TE sets and maul the LOS. Don't even care if they keep score, just want to see that for 60 minutes against a quality defense.

When considering Etienne and Lawrence, all options lead to the thought of ND fans having to bang their head against the wall for 3+ hours. However, selling out on the run and still preventing the deep pass seem at odds with each other. In Lea we trust, though.
On offense, man I hope we can just repeat our effort from the first meeting.
I can’t wait for the excitement of beating them a second time next Saturday night just to be deflated on Sunday when we all come to the realization that our coaching staff bout to get poached! Ah well, Go Irish.

Hypothetically, ND loses. How close does it have to be to ensure they still make the playoff? 17?

More worried about Florida if they beat Bama

In a scenario where UF and Clemson win out they are both in, I'm pretty sure. I think ND is going to also be behind Alabama in that scenario.

The interesting question is where a one loss ND would rank in relation to a 7-0 Ohio State.

If Florida wins, we lose, and Ohio St is undefeated unfortunately I think we will be left out. Should we be? No, Ohio St should be but that's another conversation.

Florida upsets Alabama. Both are in.

Clemson "upsets" ND. Depends on margin, but if it's close, both are in.

If you're Cincinnati or A&M, you need to hope that either Alabama and ND win, because that eliminates Florida and Clemson. Then it's Alabama, ND, A&M and Cincinnati.

Ohio State is barred from the playoff this year. 7 games isn't nearly enough and it doesn't help that the rest of the Big Ten is a dumpster fire. They will realistically play 2 games against teams with winning records. TWO, neither of which are that good. I wouldn't put either Northwestern or Indiana on par with UNC or Boston College.

SoS matters, and Ohio State's is a joke, both from a quality and a quantity standpoint.

I don't disagree, Ohio St has an incomplete resume and should not participate. But do you really think undefeated Ohio St will be stiff armed from the playoffs? If we lose to Clemson the narrative will shift to, "no TLaw, Skowski, or whatever dlineman so first game doesn't count". You know florida, Bama, and Clemson are in under the scenario of Florida and Clemson conf champs. So it's really just us vs OSU. And I think we get screwed in that spot.

i have watched indiana quite a bit this year and they most certainly are better than BC and likely equal to unc IMO
