And he signed what was the biggest contract ever last year too. Made 8+M last year, and ramps up to 10M a year, over the next 7ish years.

If he was to leave, he'd have to get a lot more than that, and guaranteed. He'd be tied for 8th most in the NFL right now at 8M. I think Belichick is the highest paid at 12M.

Is Jax going to make him the highest paid coach (or at least a top 3)? And guarantee him ~60-70M. That's likely what it would take.

The only thing that prevents me from completely closing the NFL door (not saying you are BTW) is the potential shifting financial landscape in college football. While not an immediate threat, I think this upcoming off season will be really interesting and give some insights into what to expect in the coming years, especially player compensation.

If the Jags are legit trying to tank, it kind of makes sense that this would be Dabo’s one situation to try life in the NFL though...

Complete overhaul to a new way of doing things and building a team, building the “Dabo” culture, and perhaps most importantly: drafting your generational QB no.1 overall to help your transition to NFL coaching.

Yeah I think the only thing that makes him consider it is if he can go somewhere where he can get Lawrence to start up. I don't think Clemson would miss a beat with Venables if they chose to go down that route anyhow

I think he would be a Holtzian disaster in the NFL. Some coaches are just built for the college game. I don't think Dabo's "aw shucks" schtick would play at all.

If he were to go to the Jags, it would be for the challenge and not the money. The way the Jags are dismantling their team, they probably are preparing to tank. Like Dan Patrick said, he's not heard anything yet to substantiate this.

Feel like Carroll has a similar personality and he has done well.

That's good news for Will Shipley.

Bowman was a threat to PT for him when he showed up.

Praying it’s cold or snowy. Clemson hasnt played in cold weather in forever.

This. Teams from the south play like ass when they're up here late in the season, we can only hope for frigid weather. That said, anything could happen this season with the way teams are shitting the bed. We've played Clemson tough the last two times we've faced them (That playoff game was neck and neck before our bad luck at the end of the 2nd). I think we step up again and at least keep it close.

Playing football in the cold sucks when you are used to it being cold. Playing football in the cold when you havent had a week or two of practicing in it is the most miserable 2-3 hours of your life. Kudos to the guys in the NFL who do it. Any chance Notre Dame wants to declare this a last minute "Shamrock Series" game and move up to Winnipeg or Grand Forks?
