So not like the DBZ kind?

I think it's a Yugioh card. Pay 1000 LP to activate Congenital Fusion and fuse your height with your opponent's, Special Summon 1 6'5 super athlete in face-up Attack Position.

Just a tiny bit more detail in this but sounds pretty damn scary.

Dabo Swinney on WR Justyn Ross. Surgery scheduled for Friday. Ross has what Swinney called a "congenital fusion in his neck/spine. Doctors are very concerned.
— Ralph D. Just had to look this up. Sad. Hopefully he makes a full recovery

https://www.thestate.com/sports/college/acc/clemson-university/article243824212.html

Unsurprisingly, the article is pretty much stenography from a university press release. But the numbers are not surprising at all. This region, specifically this state, does not take this seriously at all as a whole. Had this began in late summer and spilled into fall, South Carolina would have been better off. As it happened, the governor opened the state's bars and restaurants in time for the summer rush to the beaches, which provides a good chunk of the revenue to fund the state.

But do not weep for these people.

As a season ticket holder I cannot wait until Peyton Manning Jr. visits for this game. Trevor Lawrence has already made a name for himself in college, but I think he is going to be a special NFL QB.

If the cards fall right for both teams this game is going to be huge!

I actually have new found respect for Dabo now. F all the people that are trying to sell the narrative that the US is some horrible place. People need to wake up and look around the world.

I'm sure the cancel culture will take a shot at him, but he didn't say anything bad. If he ends up caving and apologize for what were very bland comments, I'll lose all the new found respect lol.

They are probably filming him bro hugging everyone on the team right now and taking a knee

Could be worse, at least he wasn’t wearing a FOX News shirt.

Agree. There is nothing racial or negative in that statement.

I still don't know why blacks themselves feel it's okay to use the N word. If they want others to stop using the word, the best way to get results is to stop using it within your culture.

Where would the black multi-millionaire hip-hop artists be w/o the Asian, middle-eastern & white consumers? Stop selling the N word to non-black consumers & maybe they’ll take you more seriously when you cry “racism”. In other words, take a vow of poverty

This goober, as a leader of mostly black men that have earned him his money and fame, stands up and essentially says "hey, stop complaining, we gave you all a black president and you should be grateful" and you don't see how that might be offensive to young black men?

I would assume that the music being used by players he said he didn’t want blaring when he was hosting people was saying “n—a” this and “n—a” that, like he referred to it. How is that racist? Sounds more like he was regurgitating the specific lyrics of the songs in order to make it clear what he didn’t want to hear being played. So someone saying “I don’t want music with ‘n—a’ in it being played” is racist? I thought it might be the opposite.

I've listened to that clip a few times and I don't understand how you say that is "essentially" what he says. I'd boil his point down to how we (as a country) have forgotten how far we've, to the point where things MLK only dreamed of are a reality. I don't hear him say "we gave you" / anything I could construe that way nor do I hear him say anything about being "grateful". Could he acknowledge there is more to do? Sure. Is he delivering it poorly? Perhaps. But this is flatly misrepresenting what he said.

he's telling people to leave the country if they're not content with the progress that's been made over the last fifty years. oh, you want to continue improving things? but we don't have segregation anymore! want more? get out.

glaringly obvious why people are upset about that.

That’s your take on what he meant. Nothing glaringly obvious about it. He could have just as easily meant, “some people have a skewed view of our country and think it is full of racist people. These people want to fundamentally change who we are as a nation, and not in a good way. Heck even Morgan Freeman has said there is no such things as systemic racism. So, if the progress and direction we are making as a country is not good enough for you, feel free to find another country you think is better. Instead of trying to fundamentally change who we are as a nation, because our founding documents and principles are leading us to become a less and less racist country.”

Feel like Dabo has a good soul but said some ignorant/tone deaf stuff. I get being frustrated that civil unrest making things uncomfortable, but the undertones of "move out if you don't let it here" are not a good look.

He seems like a good guy who likely wants those words back

Dan Patrick said he heard a small murmur that the Jags are wanting to court Dabo. He did say he has not heard anything else that gives this any legs.

I can't imagine why Dabo would leave Clemson for an NFL gig. He's perfectly suited for the college game and not at all for the NFL.

Agree. Nothing to gain going pro...see Saban, Spurrier, etal. Life is good on campus, and pay is plenty good, too.

And he signed what was the biggest contract ever last year too. Made 8+M last year, and ramps up to 10M a year, over the next 7ish years.

If he was to leave, he'd have to get a lot more than that, and guaranteed. He'd be tied for 8th most in the NFL right now at 8M. I think Belichick is the highest paid at 12M.

Is Jax going to make him the highest paid coach (or at least a top 3)? And guarantee him ~60-70M. That's likely what it would take.

If the Jags are legit trying to tank, it kind of makes sense that this would be Dabo’s one situation to try life in the NFL though...

Complete overhaul to a new way of doing things and building a team, building the “Dabo” culture, and perhaps most importantly: drafting your generational QB no.1 overall to help your transition to NFL coaching.
