Today was my late Dad's birthday. He's the one who got my entire family invested in Notre Dame. He met my Mom while she was at St. Mary's, I have two siblings who went there (I tried, didn't get in), but tons and tons of Cousins, Aunts and Uncles who went on both sides of the family. He loved Notre Dame so much, some of my earliest memories were him driving us 10 hours to ND for a game at least once a year.

I like to think he watched the game and was happy about it. I know I'm having a drink for him in celebration.
Toasting your father here.

I'd love to be wrong but Clemson has the defensive tools to say "We're going to make Pyne beat us" and I've seen literally nothing the last few weeks to make me think he can.

I just can’t get down with Pyne being the offensive player of the game. That offensive line dominated every aspect of the success this offense had.

Pyne was not good throwing the ball again and took a terrible sack on that first drive. Come on Coach.

A coach in the middle of a season doesn't give awards to the guys who deserve it, he gives them to the guys who need it.
Yeah presumably he's trying to give Pyne a little sauce and also the chance to say 'thanks Coach but nah it was MY GUYS' and further that bond for the rest of the season.

Pyne might have made a lot of really good checks at the line. we have no idea. They also may have laid out a few challenges during the week and he checked all the boxes. You reward these things.

Or he's trying to piss off the OL for the snub and get them to play even BETTER. Bold strategy, Cotton.

Agreed. No way Pyne deserved Offensive player of the game. O-Line for sure

Pyne took a number of big hits in this game and he didn't get rattled. Just kept going out and doing his f&%$ing job. I don't mind him getting the game ball but it could've obviously gone to either of the 2 RBs or the entire starting OL

Pyne did what he needed to do for us to win and did nothing to cost us the win. That's the best we can hope for from the kid. I don't have a problem with it. Especially if it helps him gain more confidence for the stretch run.

Like others I would have given the game ball to the OL or the backs, but Pyne absolutely gave a great effort out there and put his body on the line multiple times to make 1st downs and a rushing TD. He was safe with the football and did what was needed against one of the toughest defenses in college football. If coach gave him the game ball I'm fine with it. Took a nasty shot or two in this game and would not be stripped.
