It's depressing that we can't field an offense that is even close to being as dangerous as Riley's in year 1 at USC.
Believe it or not, we have just 20 points less scored on the season compared to USC, and that's with playing arguably tougher competition. Our defense will likely be better than any they've faced so far.

Yeah Irish I'm hopeful we can eventually. He brought his Heisman Hopeful QB and they NIL'd stole the best WR in college football. We will have to recruit them. It's tough because they were able to turn it around overnight. We are going to need a legit QB and we might not see those returns for 2-4 years. Defense, Ground and pound until we can get some game changers on offense. We can get there.

They’re still really good at forcing turnovers…really good. Doesn’t mean their defense overall is great but the way they’ve been able to turn the ball over has helped mitigate that.
I mean, to put it in perspective. Even including today's game, USC has forced 10 turnovers in the last 7 games.

Meanwhile, ND has forced the same number of turnovers in the last 5 games. That doesn't even include blocked punts.

So if they're really good at forcing turnovers, that must mean we're really REALLY good at it.

Mmmm…ND’s offense has been “dangerous” just in a different way. If ND gets the run game going early they’ll 100% win against USC.

Anyhow, ND has played similar versions of this same SC team multiple times over the past couple years and if ND had a semi competent QB I’d say they’d blow SC out. We’ll see.

I wish someone could explain to me what I’m missing about this USC team. They’re not a legitimate national title contender with that defense and one-dimensional offense.

No, that pretty much sums it up. Somehow their OL is Joe Moore finalists when they play in a league that plays very little defense and they're all a bunch of 3 stars. Their DL isn't elite. We should beat them in the trenches, the only question is can we slow down their 7 on 7 offense just enough and will the OL show up as expected so we can RTDB?

USC has put up 472. ND 341.

Your point still stands, they don't play anyone that plays D.

There were a few drives tonight where I didn't see a db within ten yards yards of a receiver catching a pass. It was ridiculous.

You're right, my bad! I'm looking at the Conference "Points For" on ESPN's website. Good catch. It's gettin' to be about that time of night.

We better not play this game like we did against OSU. I think we have to be very aggressive or Caleb could tear us apart
He can “tear us apart “ either way. Damned near impossible to sack. Can really run when he needs to.
I don’t know how we beat these guys without scoring 40, and we won’t score 40 without a pick six or a blocked punt (will they punt?).
Reminds me of those 88,90 Miami games. Can we get 4 stops?

Notre Dame held a better, more balanced offense to 21. They also held the best QB in the country in check in Chapel Hill.

This isn’t uncharted territory for the Irish

USC has an average defense who gives up 4.46 yards per carry. Safe to assume ND will continue with the ball control, 3 headed rushing attack and try not to get into a track meet.

Curious to see opening odds.

It will be a tough game, let’s not take this lightly. Caleb Williams will have to be limited. ND won’t be able to flat out stop him. There must be constant pressure and the ability to hold contain.

It will need to be a Clemson 2.0 offensively. We can’t get into a shootout - thats not our game and not how we win.

I’m not as confident as some as you, but I do believe a victory can happen - but it will take our best defensive effort to date.

Incredibly tough game to predict. They are explosive, can we generate enough pressure and get the QB to the ground? Can our OL continue it's dominance and can Pyne make the necessary throws?

Well they have a offensive mastermind as a coach. A Heisman front runner at QB. The Top WR in the country, several other very good receivers. If they beat us they will be in the playoff. ND is going to have to run on them and get to Caleb Williams often. Weird year that we are at this point that Southern Cal may get in. To add salt to the wound LSU might too. I feel like puking

They’re much more apt to throw the football than run it; although they still average ≈180 yards per game rushing. I think if we can make them one dimensional and put them into obvious passing situations, that bodes well for us.

Someone else said it, but my biggest worry is actually getting the QB to the ground when we get pressure. We really struggle at times with finishing off a sack.

I think they’re better than a paper tiger, but I refuse to be scared of this iteration of USC.

Trap game for USC. Just won an emotionally draining rivalry game and they've got the Pac-12 title game the week after. There are worse positions for ND to be in. Offense needs to be on its best behavior.
