Joey Galloway and Dan Mullen both said ND can beat USC.

Battle of the talking heads begins.
Galloway > Desmond

They’re gonna hype the hell out of this game since it’s on ABC. I remember 2002 when Ty took the Irish to LA & it basically clinched the Heisman for Carson Palmer. Then, in 2018; ND wins a close one over an above-average SC team & I can still hear Herbie reluctantly saying to Fowler about the Irish…”they’re in”. You could tell he didn’t like it but knew that’s the way the system worked. Not that he’s an ND hater but don’t think he was sold on that team. Remember that’s the year ND beat scUM and folks like Herbie were claiming later in the year that scUM was better than ND despite head-to-head.

USC is beatable, I am glad they pulled out the win last night vs UCLA.

Their lead RB Travis Dye is out for the season and Alex Grinch is their DC. I thought Caleb Williams was better last year.

I dare Williams to throw at Morrison.

ND can win this game.

I always had the impression that Herby liked BK but disliked ND.

USC’s offense is good. They have play makers and make sure they get good match ups.

But we have to do Us. Run the ball effectively. Obviously keep Mayer involved so they allocate someone to stop him. Need Pyne to hit the throws he is supposed too. Like you all have mentioned they get turnovers so we have to we get great design from Rees on the routes.

Hart went down late in the game not sure if they released his injury. This probably a game kiser doesn’t play much due to the 5 DB’s that are probably gonna play. But we have seen this type of offense in UNC with a much better passing QB. I think Williams is gonna need to make big plays with his feet. Hard to have a spy with 5 DB’s but I think Golden with have a good game plan.

I think Herbie is in a no-win situation. He just loves ball. That particular year I just don’t think he was sold on ND.

Of the ESPN talking heads, the ones I respect are as follows:

Rece Davis (one million times better than Fowler IMO)
Herbie
Galloway
Palmer
Pollock
Orlovsky
Blackledge

None are gonna be perfect & will say things I disagree with. But I’m biased towards ND (like all of us I presume) so sometimes it’s a ME problem.

Williams is exceptional at fitting the ball into tight windows, his receivers are all really good at making tough catches, dangerous after the catch and Williams doesn’t throw many interceptions.

Morrison and the rest of the secondary need to bring their A+ game in this one.

How is he still employed on a CFB show? I loved how he always bashed BK when he was at ND. Now watch how he suckles his teet after his success.

He’s also a UT alum so that explains a lot.
he generates interest, so i suppose hes an asset

This is why I like USC good. If this was the trash USC of the Kelly era it would be an anticlimactic end to this season. Instead we get a huge game that could spring ND to signing day and the bowl game with a ton of momentum.

Eh I’ll never complain about seeing them suck lol. I know too many smug SC people. They don’t call it the University of Spoiled Children for nothing.

Anyone know what officiating crew will be there? Could be a huge difference in the game.

PAC refs will do everything in their power to have USC win since they are the last hope of the PAC to get a huge payday from the playoffs.

Could it be ACC refs w/ a P12 booth? If not, I’d guess P12 all the way.

While we showed skill against Clemson I believe they didn’t take us seriously. USC always takes us seriously. Midnight may strike on this small Cinderella run we have been having.

Bill Connelly's model has USC winning by 10. Not been a great year for the SP, but notable.

Clemson took us seriously, they just had no answer for our domination in the trenches. ND's defense stonewalled them in that game.

Keep in mind, Clemson had a week to prepare for ND. There was zero excuse for them to come out flat or not take them seriously. They knew going into this season that we'd be one of, if not, the toughest game on the schedule.

My hope is that ND doesn’t assume SCum will be too soft & lack the physicality to stop ND the way most Irish fans assume that’s what will happen.

This is the rivalry game. No way the team is assuming like us.
