Ppl said the same thing about Kizer playing without Fuller in 2016. We went 4-8.

Well be fine though without RAN. Frankly he hasn't been that good and is easily replaceable. Claypool and Stepherson are better.
Our defense was much more responsible for us going 4-8 than losing Fuller. Also, I don't know man people who said we'd be better off without Fuller.

Fuller was way more important to our offense in 2015 than ESB has been in 2017. Is this a topic of debate?

I think the offense will run smoother without ESB because it forces BW to spread the ball around rather than key in on the "#1 guy." I think Claypool and Stepherson with some doses of Smythe and Boykins with a strong power run game is a sexy offense.

Absurd reasoning and it's debatable about ESB being the #1 guy. We need BW to settle into himself and the make the throws he's capable of. No unforced errors and we should win the game.

Hopefully Long has a great game plan dialed up to get our offense into a groove early.

300 yards on the ground, 18 point win, let's do this. Fuck Stanford. They have a stupid mascot anyway.

Most people picking Stanford today. We win by at least 20 and treat these guys like we treated Michigan State.similar style teams with similar players. We have the speed advantage this week plus time for Q and McG to reinforce the dominant talk of their greatness.

I'm worried about our run defense (especially if Martini plays much over Coney) because I believe both Morgan and Martini are not close to 100%. The DL also hasn't stood up particularly well the last three games... and Stanford has a very physical OL. Defense needs to show up and hold down Stanford's offense like other teams have been doing recently. It's hard to be confident in Wimbush lighting up a very talented back end or us rushing the ball effectively with how banged up everyone obviously is (and the fact that on slow developing running plays the unblocked backside defender seems to be making the play every time by just ignoring the QB and letting the safety fly upfield to cover the QB keeper). We need quick hitting runs early and to connect on some deep shots to back their safeties off and have any chance at a successful running game.

This is probably the least hyped IE has ever been for a big road game in Palo Alto with a 10 win season on the line. I feel like most of IE is waving the white flag on this game.

The fantasy of getting killed by Alabama was far more exciting than the fantasy of getting killed by Ohio State.

I honestly think ND wins today FWIW

As in, most expect to lose? I expect ND to win but it's been less exciting because the offense appears to have regressed over the last few weeks. Hopefully we get back on track and thump Stanford.

Just because some of us aren't posting doesn't mean we are waving the white flag. Great day of football and a lot of us are watching the games. Also. for me, I get tired of reading all the sky is falling, we suck again BS that I don't come to the site much anymore.

I personally feel great about tonight. I think schematically we shit the bed against Miami and barely had the ball against Navy. We put up 700 yards 3 weeks ago. Won’t happen tonight but I said earlier in the thread I really think BW is going to throw well tonight and we hopefully get explosive Dex back. I hope the D cleans up some of the back end stuff but I think we win by 2 TD tonight.

I'm cautiously optimistic but BK's teams have turned out to be fool's gold too many times. I'll go with a one score win over the trees, anything more than that is just gravy.

My ignorant opinion is that this game is mainly about two players: Wimbush (will he play like a quality quarterback?) and Love (how hampered actually is he?).

Our team can beat ANYONE if Wimbush really plays ball. I'm WAY out on the curve on that, I realize, but this team has very good players and units everywhere, and if they're inspired by their QB all of them can rise up.

Love is, unfortunately, a MAJOR freak running back. I don't wish physical evil on anyone, but I'll be happy to see very little of him today.

Once again, I don't get the sentiment about benching Martini --- he is the best gap-fitter LB we have on this team, and, if these games are graded series-by-series one sees that the opponents have their hardest times moving downfield against the Martini/Coney rotation combo. (Morgan is playing well, don't get me wrong, but Elko uses him a lot as a straight "extra" pass-rusher when he's in the combination, and he rarely gets "home" on those blitzes.) In my opinion, Martini also most rapidly reads the play of any of the three of them. Navy tended to run away from him and he still had a zillion tackles. If teams choose to run wide, they tend to run at Tranquill (not that this is a great idea, but he is smaller and often on the wide side.) Coney makes misreads all the time, but makes up for it with his maniacal speed. Martini just is already there. Martini also makes the most accurate zone passing drops. (all of this is just my opinion, but it's how I've "graded" several games.)

Get out the big Stihl because we are going to cut some tree tonight. Last game for some great Irish players. I am confident they will rise to the occasion and increase their stock.

Bold prediction: Irish by 20.

Cheers and go Irish. It's been a lot of fun guys. A great year regardless and I've really enjoyed the banter on the forum. Good luck and God bless.

Believe Irish will prevail if they control ball on O and don't turn the ball over. Would be a great cap to a rebound season, and much to look forward to in 2018.

With a win, looking to see Irish in Dallas vs OSU or PSU.

There should be a massive energy level tonight from our guys. Zero reason to be tight and not lay it all on the line. Come on boys.
