Stanford was a multi-TD favorite and ended up beating CAL by 3, 17-14.

CAL had a FG hit attempt hit the crossbar and bounced back on the field.

Love had another big TD run setting an FBS record for big runs. Love injured his ankle but not considered serious.

One thing I love about Shaw is nothing.

If ND curb stomps next Saturday, I will completely pardon the Miami travesty.

Agreed. I'll be praying for even just a 1 pt. win next w/e. The last 9 quarters hasn't been very pretty for the Irish overall! Ugh!

Comes down to the defense to win this game. Their OL is still very good and they'r still very reliant on big runs to score points. Since Costello was named full time starter, he's about a 58% passer with 1 TD and 2 INTs averaging a QBR around 80 and 167 yards per game. Their WRs don't get separation, but they're all sure-handed and seem to win jump balls. Same for their TEs. A lot of big bodies. If you can stop the run, it's unlikely that their offense gets to 400 yards or more than 21 points.

Their defense has been playing MUCH better as of late. They're stifling people on the ground when in the beginning of the season they were getting gashed there. Pretty darn physical up front with good safety play on the back end. They're not really letting people get to 28 points, which is why their pedestrian offense doesn't matter.

If ND can get to 30, it should be a W. Conversely, Elko's defense might need to shut them down as it's going to be very hard to get to 30 without some luck.

3 weeks ago I thought we were 3 touchdowns better than Stanford. Now my motto is, just win baby! A 3-2 win is beautiful at this point. A 10 win season after last year is huge.

Man, I'm just trying to stay hopeful. It was tough to get up after that complete embarrassment in Miami.

Of course, I'm aware of how we've been playing .... for the last 20+ years. Don't condescend like I haven't seen the shit show for almost two decades.

Let me italicize and capitalize the qualifying word for emphasis:

IF ND curb stomps next Saturday, I will completely pardon the Miami travesty.

This is the sobering reality. It will be an intense battle to win this game. Do they generate turnovers at a high rate?

Kind of hope Elliot is not playing against Stanford. My heart can’t take much more of his missed tackles.

Allen will takeover SS eventually. Gilman is pegged at FS I believe.

Stanford should be embarrassed by the condition of that field. The last two weeks it has been a mess.

I don’t have a good feeling about this game.

I don’t see how ND wins unless they turn Stanford over multiple times...ugh

I'm neutral towards this game IRT how confident I feel. We haven't been playing very well but Stanford isn't a very good team. I know, I know...we all said that about Miami and this is another 8 PM kickoff on the road. BUT, The Farm is not the same kind of atmosphere as Miami at night and Stanford isn't nearly the team Miami is (though I'm not sold Miami is an elite team either).

We are a better team than Stanford and road game or not we should beat them. We need to take the offensive game plans from the last two weeks and chuck them and go back to the USC and NCSt game plans.

Been an ugly couple of weeks but I think we play well this week. Navy is just not a good team for a big rebound game after MIAMI. They are brutal with that 70’s offense. I think a couple of miscues on our part really let them hang yesterday.
Here’s to playing fast and aggressive on defense and getting the running game back on course. I may be overly optimistic, but I think BW is going to have a huge game throwing next week.

Do you really only look forward to games you know/think they will win?
Nope. Was looking very forward to every game up until this week, including the UGA game which I thought was a sure loss; SC and Miami too. Was thrilled to be wrong about SC. But after the team's showing these past few weeks and our inability to win on the road at Stanford, I just feel like the odds of showing up in Palo Alto and laying an egg are high. That's not fun.

The odds of us laying an egg are very slim. We already had that game with Miami. We'll be ready for Stanford. A win gets us ten wins and a New Years Six bowl.
