“I think they’re getting a really good offensive football mind,” Polian said. “One of the great things about Mike, if you look at the offense he worked in at Stanford and the offensive he ran at Boise State, you can see that he’s not married to one single scheme. He’s a guy that’s flexible.
“I think you’re getting a very successful energetic recruiter. In this day and age, that’s as big a deal as anything else. He’s high energy. Relates well to kids, parents, high school coaches. He’s a bulldog about recruiting, turns over every stone, not going to be out-worked.”
Absolute home run hire. BK injects some life on the offensive staff, adding a young guy with the potential to grow into a fantastic coach, while at the same time already being a brilliant offensive mind and a guy that can fill the recruiting coordinator vacancy if needed.
Its amazing what happens when BK is allowed to finish organizing his staff. Hopefully people have stepped away from the ledge after TA left.
6,000 yards offense? ~40 points a game? God help every opponent if BVG gets his shit together. It's gonna rain gold!Anyone know much about the offense he ran at Boise this season? I didn't catch much of them this year.
Their QB threw for 3,696 with 23 TDs and 14 INTs but completed 70.8%.
Their RB ran for 1,823 and 28 TDs and the backup went for 592 and 8 TDs.
3 guys caught over 50 balls (1 was the RB), and top guy had 877 yards.
They averaged 39.7 points per game.
Assuming Sanford coaching QBs, Quinn to TEs, Booker to safeties, and Lyght to CBs, are we still expecting Denson to RBs? I guess that means no room for Hoke to DL?
These threads make no sense. A new offensive coordinator is not worthy of it's own thread and gets lumped in a thread with moving coaches from running backs to wide receivers or whatever, but we have threads about comic books and every racially charged incident that has happened in America for the last five years.
Generally like how recruiting threads are organized then kept as player-specific threads on a go-forward basis, but the thread titles also act as headlines for people who don't have enough time to read through every thread every day. When thread titles are overly broad it makes it possible to miss significant news.
You guys have the right to set this up however you want, just trying to give some constructive feedback.
Agreed, certainly worth making a fresh thread on Sanford or any individual ND coach. I have no idea why this one was created when there is already a yearly "coaching changes" thread. I edited the title to be specifically about ND coaching changes so that it would at least make some sense to have a discussion on overall staff reshuffling... but I totally agree that any major news item deserves its own thread.
I HOPE it means no Hoke. Seriously, some of you guys are crazy. I really don't think it would have ever happened anyway.

It would be a great hire and if it doesn't happen, it was talked about between both parties at one point.
+2Yeah, i'm with Grahambo on this one. Hoke would be an incredible hire, imo. I'm not sure why you wouldn't like the hire. Just because he wasn't a good head coach at Michigan, doesn't take away the fact that the guy has a long history of successful assistant work. Not to mention that experience was with guys like Mattison, Jack Harbaugh, John Harbaugh, Bo Schembechler and Lloyd Carr. Regardless of our feelings on those guys personally, they are all great football minds.
Not to mention, the guy is a light's out recruiter.
II said Quinn could potentially take TE and assistant HC. Then Elliot could move to an admin position, Booker to safeties, Lyght to CBs.

Denbrock to recruiting coordinator makes a ton of sense, because he's an ace recruiter when tasked with recruiting. Elston to recruiting coordinator makes literally no sense whatsoever.
I don't know who this guy is, but I like what he wrote!
Why's that? You don't have to be on the road recruiting to be a good recruiting coordinator. Your main task is to ensure you get info on the kids, evaluate, make sure guys are evaluating, making the calls, texting, visiting, schedule recruit visits, etc. Help the guys on the road get the job done.
Could we at least make the first post a list of which coaches are coaching which position for stupid people like me who can't keep up?

So most speculation is that Elliott is out or moving to admin?

I think everyone is gone at this point except Kelly, and I'm not sure if Kelly is going to retain Kelly.
This is my guess.
I think Elliot and Quinn may be upstairs.

If they could somehow lure Hoke into that DL coach, which seems improbable, that staff would be an insane group of dudes.
