Sinclair does great articles. But he doesn’t really do scoop. Right now they don’t have a recruiting scoop guy and just rely on Tom dropping in which is now rare. I’m considering dropping II because lately all I do is listen to the pod. Anyone have ISD? I enjoy Jamie on hit and hustle, is the intel worth it?

It's not even close to the same without Loy. The site now goes multiple days without a single bit of recruiting info.
In their defense, I dont think there is a lot of info to share at this time. The class is basically wrapped up and they just got done going through spring ball. Coaches are on the road now and official visits are coming up. Im sure info will pick up.

This opinion was mentioned in that thread, that may be a valid point. IMO though, its recruiting, there's always information to be shared.

Somebody needs to sit him down and explain to him that 35+ year olds don't act/talk that way

Plus he goes way too long on the contrived personal talk at the beginning of the pods. Have to skip thru the first 5-8 minutes

Jamie U is probably my favorite overall as he justifies his positions and they have substance to them. He also never gets defensive or butt hurt with people. Nor does he get too emotional or whiney after they lose. Seems very even keeled. But he does get sick way too much lol

Sorry, I just saw this from a couple weeks back.

I know from listening to Jaime in those Power Hour podcasts that his most recent kid (don't know if he has any others) was born close to the same time as my second was, in late summer 2019, and I can tell you for an absolute fact that he gets sick the normal amount. I used to think I had a pretty sturdy immune system until I had kids. I don't think I have a pretty sturdy immune system anymore.

I think most of the hating on Loy came early in his tenure when he didn't know what the fuck he was doing, or he was putting out garbage. There was that whole controversy early on, right? IE was boycotting his content. I guess he got better over time, he occasionally still stepped in it.

The Loy hating stems from like a two-year period where it felt like he was just CB’ing every decent prospect to ND early in the process to generate buzz.

There was a time where he had like 8 different players at the same position, in the same class, with predictions for ND lol

May have been general positivity, could have also been legit naivety about what kids were telling him, and he felt obligated to pick ND as a favorite for too many kids based on them saying kind words.

It’s been a long time since then, and Loy was elite the past few years imo

That’s understandable. I figured they would struggle for a while. Tom has deep recruiting connections that are going to take them a while to replace.

People on here were frustrated with Loy over the last few years when he'd CB someone to ND and feel confident, and then ND wouldn't land those players. They would say they were ready to be "Loy'd" again. I don't blame Tom, as I think this staff isn't the greatest at reading recruits. Tom was simply relaying what he was being told.

Interesting on the context of this discussion and the recent II post.

Sinclair, our OG ND Vancouver from back in the day, posted the most "Loy" like post he's ever had today about a recruit. His strength has been in depth reporting on the prospect through player, family, and coach deep dives as opposed to the highly connected "intel" side that Tom had.

I'm interested to see how the new guy does at II. Tom had some guts for a few prospects like KVA but still was too close to the Dante Moore saga. Don't burn bridges and all that, but his reflection post on it wasn't good optics.

Not many people who were more critical of Tom early on than myself, but was pretty damn good the last 2 years. If he heard anything, good or bad, he reported it.

So this tweet by Sampson brings up a funny face plant by a 247 national reporter...

It was based on this tweet from 2 days ago...

Not only did he not have us in his top 30, we weren't even in his honorable mention/"teams to watch" list.

The comments are funny. He gets dragged, doubles and triples down before finally admitting he screwed up.

I think we mentioned this in another thread or a few pages back maybe. Yeah, his reasoning in the thread that he left out ND: "Too many questions at QB and WR." Nevermind that USC is in his Top 10 with big questions on that trash defense, and they're without Caleb Williams at QB now. Dude is garbage, he should have just owned up to it instead of doubling down. If anything there's questions at Tackle maybe, but we're returning a solid defense and DC, and upgrade to OC, and almost all other position groups besides Tackle are an upgrade.

Well at least one sports writer believes ND has some game in '24! He has us at #11. Where Notre Dame Ranks in Joel Klatt's College Football Top 25 for 2024

Joker has grown that business.

Clearly opinionated. He has some good people with him like Ryan and the father/son duo.

Kudos to him

I can see not having us in your top 10 or even 15 if you’re a hater. But not ranking Notre Dame in the top 30 suggests to me you like went through a list of P4 conferences and just forgot one of the most popular programs in the sport exists.

It's because ND is irrelevant.
