Hope Golson gets good grades.
Kelly said he's unsure if Hardy can play. Interesting question but Idk why he couldnt? New semester starts in january.
I posted this in the Bowl Prediction thread and add it hear as appropos.
Sagarin's current Predictor Model makes ND an 11-1/2 pt underdog at a neutral location.
But Sagarin doesn't take injuries into consideration. He evaluates wins. losses, margin of victory, and strength of schedule. Whether you have anyone left standing for the next game doesn't enter into his calculations.
The odds will end up where the money takes them but I wouldn't be surprised if ND is one of the biggest or biggest underdog on this year's bowl schedule. We have some very talented freshman playing but they're 18 or 19 olds playing against 22 year olds with a lot more physical development and years more experience and we can't spell them for a rest with experienced bodies. We don't have them. It's a very steep hill.
GO IRISH!

Can anyone get healthy before the bowl game?

It will be Golson, but I feel confident Malik is going to get some playing time. Wouldn't be surprised to see a 60-40 or 65-35 split in reps.
The great Everam Folsom he's supposed to be our savior. What? LSU might score 60, but ND won't score 40! If Folsom is QB, they might not even get past mid-field!
Hopefully Les Miles takes the Michigan job and takes his entire staff with him and LSU has a GA acting as interim coach and all the players just mail it in cause the game takes place in a snowstorm.
Short of that happening... no way ND wins.

LSU underclassmen are not the same as ND underclassmen. See thread: The Eye Test.To be fair LSU has many underclassmen playing so there is not that many 22 year old players that will be playing for them.
We may lose, but this is one of the few scenarios which could give the program a needed boost. We'd gain nothing playing any other conference than an SEC member. And we'd gain nothing playing one of the clear SEC powerhouses [just too much with our injured defense] or the lower part of the SEC. We need to get a crack at a middle SEC power --- that's what LSU is this year, and despite a mediocre season for their standards, they still have the aura.
I believe that our offense can score off anyone IF the quarterback stops screwing us up. Other teams don't stop us particularly, we stop/kill ourselves. Will this stop? Who knows? Is Malik a better option? Maybe.
Any chance that we have depends upon who we have available to play defense. I haven't heard comment about JJones, so I'm assuming he'll be ready. If Day and Cage are ready too, then with Rochell, Utupo, Trumbetti, they might hold up that end. Is Riggs going to be healthy? This is as big a deal as anything, since if he is, we might be able to put him and Luke on islands with their mediocre WR corps, and commit Safeties more strongly vs the run.
Sure the odds are against all this, but "what though the odds...."
This game gives us a chance to actually accomplish something here, and almost no other scenario does. Risk nothing, gain nothing.
Jarron Jones is out, he had foot surgery. Lis Frank is a huge problem.
So, there is no way in God's green earth that he is playing.
It is going to be another embarrassment on national tv.
I think this bowl game is a huge mistake, but we are in it. I sure hope we can make a game of it.
LSU is really young too.
I like that some of you are trying to be positive about this...but there is absolutely, positively nothing good about this match-up given our defensive injuries/suspensions. This was probably about the worst draw we could have had given teams with similar records.
I think Auburn would have been the nightmare matchup but this is pretty close.
