Brey visited Laszewski again tonight. You can't say that he hasn't made Laszewski a priority.

Wake Forest would now seem to be out of it for Laszewski as they got a commit from Isaiah Mucius a 6'8" SF. They have one spot to fill and are looking to add a guard.

Laszewski is visiting N. Carolina this weekend and it looks like a good possibility of him scheduling a visit to Arizona.

Still love where we sit for Laszewski and he would be a perfect fit for ND's offense.

Boom Baby.

I wanted this one bad. He is perfect for our offense. Most of the people on the Wake Forest Board were hoping that he would end up at UNC over ND, because they figured he would be a fixture on the end of the bench for Roy but in the hands of Brey, they feared that he could become a lethal weapon.

How much did we pay to land him?

Nice get. Stretch fours are the key to today's game IMO.

YES! Wonder if the FBI news helped push him over the edge - beat the rush to a clean program and/or run from UNC/AZ.

WF board info from ABC is awesome sauce.

Yep. These kids at USC and Arizona will bounce and we should secure #1 spot for now. Michigan and MSU will slide into 2-3. What a weird look.

Trying to think if we are in on any other recruits. I thought we were taking 5-6 this cycle?

We reportedly stopped recruiting Shittu a couple weeks back.

Don't know if that was a calculated move in trying to get Laszewski to commit. An effort to show him that he is more important to ND than Shittu. Another option is something happened on the recruiting trail. Final possibility is that Shittu said he wasn't really interested.

Silly censoring Shittu = S h i t t u

Or he stopped playing coy and directly asked for our opening bid thus eliminating us from contention.

Looked at 2017 recruiting rankings - all about volume - we are in the cellar with our one high four star recruit? Top of the class are Dook and KY taking 15 total recuits between them (10 five stars?!?). We have four highly rated guys for 2018 so we shoot up the rankings. Most teams should have 3 basketball recruits per year on average with a fifth year on average on roster. Turning over half your roster in one year is just silly and a mockery of the concept of student-athlete when done every damn year like UK and Dook.

Crystal ball is 62% Arizona, so who knows.

Who is Brey's CFB equivalent?

Dabo Sweeney?

A coach that had great regular seasons but no postseason success for many years until he just went ham and flipped the script?

Sounds like Dabo

And likable, funny, and a little weird. Took a program that isn't a top 20 program and made them top-whatever you want to give them.

Clemson football wasn't much before Dabo.

Out of the last 5 players to commit to Coach Brey, Nate Laszewski is the "lowest" rated player; Laszewski is still a composite top 100 player, has a .95 rating, and has offers from everywhere. Coach Brey and staff's recruiting efforts lately has been nothing short of insane.

Laszewski's commit might be my favorite one and could be the most important down the road. When is the last time we've even had a stretch 4 that is dangerous from the 3? I know it has been a while. Laszewski is someone I see playing right away as he offers something Brey currently does not have on the roster.

With that being said, the last 5 commits are all considered homeruns IMO. You have a true PG in Hubb, a Connaughton/Vasturia-like player in Carmody, a tremendous all-around offensive player in Goodwin, a stretch 4 in Laszweski that we haven't had in years and should thrive in a Coach Brey offense, and Harvey who should get significant minutes this year as a freshman and he is a guy who can play multiple positions.

Is ND done with this class based on numbers, or is there anyone else for this class that is seriously considering ND? One of the interesting things is that while these are very good players, correct me if I am wrong, but none are the one and done type of players. That means we get them for a couple of years.

I think ND adding Ryan Humphrey and David Ayers to the coaching staff is big, but what is bigger is that they have both played for coach Brey.

I would have to think that ND is done with this recruiting class.

ND Bball Recruits, on twitter, thinks we shut it down this year. That makes 3 scholarships for next year.

Whatever position you want to slot Bonzie at...he can knock down 3's. Opposing teams definitely pay the price if they leave him open out there.

But regardless, your point still stands that Laszewski's commitment is a big one and the class as a whole is as good as I've seen at ND in my lifetime.

It seems like the 2018 class is finished unless Brey wants to add a spring signee or transfer.

The name to watch for the 2018 class is Isaiah Stewart. I'm pretty sure he is #1 on the big board and we are believed to be the leader.

Notre Dame is a very under rated college basketball program, and not just recently either. Although we are having probably the second best run in our program history (maybe third if you count the early pre poll era in the 20s-30s when ND was retroactively awarded tittles; IDK if the school claims those, but fuck it we should you know bama would lol).

I know Final Fours are the benchmark for College BBall, but look where we stand otherwise historically:

Wins 1,845 (8th All time)
Win% .650 (13th)
Tourney Appearances 35 (9th)

Pretty elite overall.

ND's long-term problem has been underwhelming tournament performances. This was true under Brey, too, until 2015. Hopefully the recent period of tournament success continues (no reason to think it won't).

For the record, "average" here literally means the average all-time overall win % (60%) and all-time tournament win % (50%) for the teams included in the chart.
