Special Team Coach….Coach O. Just for the absolute fun of it.

Transfer some LSU players and damn those pressers will be fun.

Yup.

If/since Harry seems to be a scratch for OL, I'd say call up Ed Warriner again. He's down at FAU after Michigan let him go. He's done well at his previous stops, and he really helped shore up the line and improve our running attack when BK first came in. I know his recruiting chops left some wanting more, but he's built some solid lines and left a good foundation for Harry. I'd be fine bringing in Chris Watt too, even if he's inexperienced. NFL experience, Harry guy, Notre Dame man.

For WR coach, I'm just gonna throw this out there...Golden Tate.

From every story I've ever heard, Warriner is a first class asshole to everyone, players, coaches, student managers etc etc. He tends to wear out his welcome wherever he goes. When he left ND at the time, it was considered an addition by subtraction and some of BK's comments at the time focused on how the coaching staff needs to be unified and working together.

I think it would have been nice for Polian to stick around. HC experience, good recruiter, and special teams have been pretty good this year. Doerer did pretty well, couple game winning FGs and one being a particular nasty one getting Ice'd and then having to sit there for 7 minutes while they found that laser in the stands at FSU. Kickoff/Punt coverage has improved too. Hard to turn down a HC job though when you're just a ST guy.

Both the OL and WR coaches should be on the young and hungry side. Not old folks

Disagree on the OL side. An experienced OL guru that instills toughness in the group and can at least do the minimum recruiting wise since it recruits itself.

Oh hey Harry.

Yeah, but at least it's for a HC position (reportedly) which was always his end-game ever since leaving Nevada. Good for him.

Recruiting OL is a different dynamic than skill positions. They gravitate to the grizzled, old hard-ass coach a lot more. They respond less to the Hollywood recruiting styles.

At least the ones you want...

How is UVA on the OL? Mendenhall just stepped down so they might be open. Plus, their OL coach looks like he's straight out of cental casting.

I got the impression that HH was only helping guys that he had connections with just to help them out. I'm assuming that he wasn't helping guys that he didn't recruit or coach.

If Mike Elston ends up being the DC how about Ed Orgeron to coach the DL.... Half joking

Late to the party, I see the jokes already been made

We have have HAVE to get Freeman a private jet. One of his biggest attributes is his recruiting. We need to give him every tool possible to capitalize on that.

Malpass / ND endowment buying WheelsUp in 3...2...1...

Edit: well now that I've caught up, I see y'all have kinda already covered this. At least, Tommy has.

Warriner's OLines have performed well, but he recruited very poorly while at ND. Can't speak to how he recruited at OSU.

He would be asked to recruit, seems like he didn't enjoy that

I think he can get a pass on recruiting. We've got enough young guys to pick up the slack, and I'm sure some guys will just come if you tell them "Hey, Zack Martin, Quenton Nelson, Ronnie Stanley, Mike McGlinchey, etc? Harry taught them all."

Quinn was getting dragged through the mud all summer about his recruiting, then how his recruiting lead to the issues we were seeing on the field.

I highly doubt getting "a pass on recruiting" is going to be a thing with the hire. No retreads, its a new era.
