The Pete Caroll usc teams were easier to handle ... And that says tons...

Whoh now, are we that far removed from the Cheatey Petey years that we can say this? I remember a lot of frustrating years the last decade, and when we finally edged them out in 2010....I had to see a doctor because I couldn't stop smiling for a week.

Yeah, leave TTT alone. He's a credit to his race. We're all agitated because our defense is banged up and we're playing like crap, that's not 'Bama's fault.

Roll Brand! Alabama’s Win and the Problem With the New College Playoff «

I am an unabashed fan of bowl games, large and small. At their best, they are museum-quality specimens of a kind of lost American ballyhoo. The chubby boosters in garish blazers. The festival queens and their courts. The high school marching bands and the civic luncheons for baffled players who never have been in, say, Shreveport before. You will say that these things still exist, but the phenomenon has been devalued. Nobody wants to get excited about a consolation game. And this year, all the games outside the three mega-events that will decide the national title are simply the NIT. I do not believe that what the country really needed was one more gargantuan television event that makes the parasitical power structure of college sports even richer, that provides yet another boon to the national gaming-industrial complex, and that allows people who wouldn’t know Wallace Wade from Wally Cleaver to pretend that they care about college football.

Already, the new system has been embraced so enthusiastically by all the institutions of the tottering plutocracy of college sports that it has deformed the regular season. There is no way for the new system to make sense of the SEC West, for example, which is so fat with talent that it virtually has blotted out the rest of the country — so much so that it is entirely possible that a backlash elsewhere may force a lesser team into the field just so people won’t think the whole system is in the tank for a league that does, after all, have its own television network, with CBS Sports (virtually) serving as another one. It will not be long before we hear calls for an expanded playoff system because the current one is unfair to “the kids” who play in leagues less beloved by television executives. And it will become a genuine tournament, which means it will get bigger, louder, and all of its faults will become worse.

What if we lose twice or three times? Back to Yankee Stadium?

Yep. Would love it if they took it. SEC/OSU = evil, Oregon fans = douchebags.

Watch yourself. Saban has already sacrificed a goat under a full moon, offered up the soul of his new granddaughter to the devil, and spends his lunch hour drowning puppies. Don't think he can't reach out his hand like Sauron from Barad Dur and smite thee!

The only thing I will say is that the more pro style offense we play it seems like our defense is more efficient.

However I like our offense would struggle some.

Depends on what LSU came to the game. LSU in the bowl game last year vs. Iowa we'd have a shot. LSU that shows up against Bama would go in dry on us.

Louisville comes to our house at #24 this week. We are as expected unranked. Time to make our move with USC also ranked 19. We win out were top 20 by end of year and that sounds good at the moment

I just can't handle Bama winning, if you gave me a ND and Bama will never win another title again deal id consider it if it screws those people... Never seen such a miserable group of people enjoy so much... Right now Auburn is my St Michael,.. Please for the love of God, Auburn, please beat them.

I got my wish this past weekend in bama beating miss st and ga beating auburn. Now as you said please let auburn get bama's $#@ and ole miss beat miss st. Then they will all have 2+ losses. Never thought I'd like to see fsu over anybody but yes I hope they beat the %$#@ out of the sec team they may have to play. College football has turned into such a sad state of affairs. I told a good friend last week that I am no longer a college football fan-just a guy who pulls for Notre Dame.

Lol Long said Bama was #1 cause they won decisively against MSU. And that MSU is #4 cause they were never out of the game against Bama....which one is it?

Mississippi State has 1 win over a Top-25 team. At home against a 3-loss Auburn team. I really hope they don't make it in over an 11-1 Baylor or TCU Conference Champ if it comes down to that.

I like our chances at this point. Should be fun seeing how it all plays out.

I think Bama is the best team at this point, but it still seems a little wrong to me that they are #1 and FSU as only major undefeated team and national champs are #3. However, my biggest disagreement with the rankings by far is Miss St. at #4. I think with the drop off of Auburn, LSU, Ole miss and A&M the SEC West is not as dominant as was believed and just don't see Miss St. as looking that impressive. I also think Baylor definitely deserves to be ahead of TCU. I would go FSU, Bama, Oregon and Baylor in that order.

No one on this board can convince me of UCLAs #9 ranking. The only I'm pressure thing they have done is not get blown out by Oregon!

The more the weeks go by the more I hate this poll. I know UCLA isn't the only team that is wrongfully ranked but to me they are one of the more obvious choices.

End rant, sorry guys!

They should've lost to Memphis, UVA, Texas, etc. but they didn't... they're pretty much the anti-ND. Had a bunch of teams find ways to give games away to them that they had no business winning.

Seriously. LSU lost to freaking Arkansas...they are not a good team. Same goes for Ole Miss and A&M.

Eh, whatever. It's one less SEC team in the top-10.

FSU not being #1 is an absolute sham and you can't convince me otherwise. Has actually played a fairly challenging schedule with no losses. Oregon especially makes absolutely no sense.

Agree. You can't take the champ out of the #1 spot until they lose. They did nothing to lose that spot. The problem with the committee is perception and the bias is clearly showing, which is why committees should not be used in athletics. Use playoffs and let the teams settle it on the field!

I'm more certain every week that goes by that there should be no committee.

Use the old BCS system with 4 teams making the playoffs. The BCS poll was never this stupid.

This committee is just awful. Expand it to eight teams and settle more on the field and less in a conference room.

At this point I don't really have much of an issue with the committee other than it appears they are inconsistent week to week. One week they look at SOS, the next week they look at current wins, the next week they look at losses. I don't have a problem with Miss St being at #4 over TCU or Baylor. And with the remaining schedules left for each team and if all three win out, I can't see TCU or Baylor passing them. If Ohio St wins the B1G then they would probably pass Miss St - even though I don't believe they could beat the Dogs on a neutral field.

Too many huge games left to be worried about the committee and what they do. We all have known for a while that no matter what happens, some teams are probably gonna have a legit argument to be in.

That's their job though...to be consistent. That's pretty much their only guideline. So I don't see how you can think they are doing a good job but also acknowledge that they are inconsistent.
