I think this is a huge upgrade for Boston. Cleveland gets some pieces but I think this hurts their chances of getting to the finals unless Lebron can take over.

Kyrie completely changes that offense. I liked IT but he's more of a lone wolf. I think Kyrie is more well-rounded. I'm not a Celtics fan but I am a Brad Stevens fan.

Excited to see the new NBA.

We will cakewalk to the finals again. No question.

Probably so.

I think the trade makes Boston marginally better next year, and Cleveland marginally worse next year, but not enough of a difference to dethrone cleveland in the east.

Even after the trade boston still has some big holes, namely defense and rebounding, and to go along with that, a lack of rim protectors and shot blockers.

I think offensively Boston will certainly be better but yeah on the other end they lost two really good pieces. Not to mention already having lost Bradley.

For the Cavs I think it depends on weather or not we flip the Nets pick. If we turn that into another expiring superstar like Boogie I could see this being a net positive.

It'll be fun watching Cleveland get bounced in the conference finals. And if they manage to get by the Celtics, it'll be fun watching the Warriors hoist the trophy. I just hope Celtics can continue making acquisitions. Heyward and Kyrie are high percentage players both added in the post season.

Not a huge fan of Irving at all. Dude is a gunner that don't play defense. I like how he plays in big games and that's pretty much it. I see why they wanted him as opposed to IT because of the possible max contract IT will be looking for at the end of the year. Yet and still as of right now, it looks like a lateral move. No real improvement at the 1

IT will be nothing when it comes to a big time series. This is a GREAT move the Celtics.

Kyrie is a top 10 playoff player, easily. Who cares about NJ's pick next year, picks don't always pan out, and they already have Bradley and their #1 pick from this year to groom. You don't want a roster full of lottery picks or you'll be Philadelphia.

Neither play defense, but Kyrie plays it better IMO. And Crowder's are a dime a dozen in the playoffs. I don't see him giving either team an advantage in a serious playoff series.

Nutshell, Kryie may not have the stats IT put up, but he's significantly better at basketball. If the C's can get a 2-guard that can shoot the 3, look out.

Agreed. I think i read something about Heyward being in the top 3 for offensive efficiency? They have a big man who can shoot, just get a little more fire power on the perimeter and find someone who can rebound or contend at the basket.

I'm just excited to see this remodeled team.

I hate the Cavs, but Crowder was just trying to box out for a rebound. That wasn't malicious.

I didn't say he did it on purpose.

You don't box out a guy on the receiving end of an alley oop from behind. You either go up with him and challenge the pass, or you stay out from under neath him. He was beat, and because he stayed underneath him, when LeBron came over to challenge they jackknifed him. Lazy, bush league play on Crowder's part.

Again, Bush League?

He got beat on a backdoor, tried to get back into position, awkwardly closed out... So malicious intent, if anything, good play by Hayward.

Kyrie shouldn't have passed it and Hayward shouldn't have tried to jump after it. The lane was clogged. It was likely that he was going to get bodied pretty badly. Obviously that fall was the worst case scenario, but he was going to get slammed regardless.

What is the context here? His son did something no one really cares about?

I feel old and cranky like Clint Eastwood when watching the NBA. The game doesn’t appeal to me anymore, because there’s very little classic with the class long gone. *Someone just heaved up another 3.

I really enjoy the current NBA product. Offensive and defensive creativity is at an all time high. I also really enjoyed the NBA in the 90s because iso-defense was still a thing and watching elite offensive players be unstoppable was fun. The NBA in the early 2000s was the dark times. The average NBA possession in 2000-2004: Give the ball to your best player. That player dribbles for 20 seconds. That player chucks up a low percentage two pointer. Defense rebounds. Repeat. God bless Steve Nash for at least being fun to watch during that time period. You had teams in the East getting to the Finals without winning 50 games. It was terrible basketball because the defenses were much more complex and efficient than the offenses because of rule changes. The offenses hadn't caught up yet.

On the topic of Wiz's post: You guys can be as salty about Lebron as you want. Dude is easily a top 3 player all time and he's aging better than a Nebbiolo.

I hear ya, man.

Yeah, I’m just salty. And exaggerating, to an extent. I’ve seen some good games here and there.

But is it weird to say that I liked the personalities better in the 80s and 90s?

It mostly likely has to do with the fact that I was still a kid and looked up to the players.

It also seemed like the best players stayed with their teams for-EVER, which meant consistently great rivalries.

Confession: Ginobili is oddly one of my favorite players in the league, but not for stats (of course). It’s his loyalty to the Spurs and he’s that guy in the gym us older guys think we can still be. Ha.

The current product is pretty good from a basketball standpoint. To the bold though, I really miss the way rivalries used to be. Teams hated each other and the games were way more intense than they are now. Everybody is all chummy these days and I hate that.
