Don't know how CB is not an F. We don't have anyone.

Could one of the 'ATH' be moved there? I suppose one would if injuries/transfers in the line of succession necessitated the move at some point in the future. Very rarely will ignoring the CB position in a given year end up with positive results.

Sparty and recruit issues again?

Donovan Winter not signing with Michigan State today - Orlando Sentinel

They had the issues with McDowell's Mom a few yrs ago. They had the QB recruit with assault issues. This one has just gone black.

Don't know how CB is not an F. We don't have anyone.

I changed it later in the thread. I was originally thinking we are OK for next year, so it was horrible, but not a total fail. But, I tend to agree that its inexcusable.

OFFENSE
QB: B
RB: B+
WR: B (I actually like both kids, and they compliment our young Corps of giants... plus, I want to concentrate on running and TEs, but needed one more)
TE: A+
OT: A (Banks and Lugg)
OT/OG: A (Hainsey and Gibbons)

DEFENSE
DT: B+
SDE/DT: C+ with McCallister/B with Tagovailoa-Amosa
WDE: F/C with Kofi Wardlow
LB: B
Rover: D/ B- with Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah
SS: B-
FS: B+
CB: F

ST
K: B+

Offense: overall B+ (not a step backwards, as long as Avery does not have to play as a freshman)
Defense: D+, heading for a C/C- (a step backwards, but not a total disaster)

I did a double take too. Arby's won't be the sponsor though, definitely BW3's territory.

I had to google BW3. Never saw that before. I thought of Buffalo Wild Wings but couldn't come up with the third W. Thanks for expanding my acronym vocabulary.

BW3 is the nickname for the restaurant Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar. While the nickname is still popular, it is confusing because there is no third w in the name. Most people who use the term BW3 have no idea where the name comes from. The original name was Buffalo Wild Wings & Weck, but the company dropped Weck from its name when it stopped selling sandwiches on weck rolls.

So Mom's the person giving Malpass all the hot tips. Got it.

I think I read one of his tweets that Dad is in Boston at one of the heavies.

Turned down UC to play football at a non-top 10 school? This kid has bawlz.

Looks the part. Seriously, couldn't have just signed and DM'd Redfield for a piece?

Yes. But an "off" class here and there may be very good depending on what your actual needs are.

So if ND wants championship it needs mostly Top 5 classes, but an occasional Top 15 class is fine if it has what is needed (great depth, instead of super-star starters).

agree for the most part.

I don't like the overall class rank as much as top 50 or top 75 players. To win big, you need a few difference makers, solid depth and great coaching. Clemson this year, I think, only had one top 10 composite class in the last four years, but still won the natty. Now, Watson was a huge reason and his was a top 40ish recruit. Aside from him, top players like Scott, Cain, Wilkins, Watkins etc. were all top composite players. So Clemson both got those players in recruiting and had a really high batting average on having them produce at difference maker positions.

For ND, the last three cycles we have had the following as top 75 composite players - Wimbush, Alize, Tommy K and Brock Wright. All on offense, two at the same position, though I know Alize is probably more of a TE in name only. What that means to me is that next year ND is going to need to have a very strong class, have tremendous coaching development and hope Wimbush is as good as what we think he is. We will see how that unfolds.

Its funny how many kids with questionable character MSU seems to go after. Surprisingly, they dont seem to get into much trouble once they get on campus. Maybe I'm wrong and just dont notice it when it happens... either that, or maybe Dantonio is just good at keeping a tight leash on these kids.

My grades, assuming we land who we're supposed to--

Offense
QB - B. One good prospect, questionable fit for scheme.
OL - A. Good depth, good talent.
WR - D. Needed minimum one more player. No elite prospects.
RB - B. One good prospect.
TE - A+. Two elite prospects.
Overall - B+. Basically, with a better job at WR this is an A level class. Best you can possibly do at TE plus a very solid OL haul.

Defense
DT - B+. Good depth, one very good prospect + two guys that could be productive.
DE - C-. Two project players, but DE was not that huge "numbers" of a need in this class, so it's not the end of the world.
LB - C+. Two decent prospects, probably good enough but not great.
S - B+. Three good safety prospects, two of which can be versatile in-the-box players.
CB - F. Completely inexcusable to not get at least two bodies of any sort. Huge hole, huge miss.
Overall - C. Basically, CB recruiting undermines an otherwise OK class. Two solid CBs (Adebo, Yeast)+ better players at DE (Paschal) + another body at LB. Would make it a B+ style class.

Shouldn't ND judge it's recruiting against ND standards, not against other D1 or P5 rankings?

Just sayin'

I don't know that we have standards anymore. At least not if you ask most fans around here.

That's a big one. 3 potential interior DL is exactly what ND needed.

Photo: A Tearful Jarez Parks, 4-Star DE Expected To Commit To Alabama, Announces That He Will Delay His Decision
Jarez Parks, a four-star defensive end out of Florida, was expected to commit to Alabama today, but instead he will delay his decision.

Later today?

Alabama has twenty-five commits and can take twenty-five. Still to announce with Alabama among their favorites or the favorite.
LaBryan Ray, DE
DaVonta Smith, WR
Christopher Henderson, CB

Wouldn't he have notified Bama's coaching staff of his impending decision for them?

Watching for Bama verbals Kendrick James, TE, Brian Robinson, RB, Hunter Bannon, OT and Joseph Bulovas, K (commit 1/25/17). Bama at twenty-six.

That Bama is one classless football program. I get it. They win so everyone ignores the facts but I wouldnt send my kid there for nothing. Even if they did have a remotely decent academic program....which they dont.

I live in the state and it is amazing how people ignore EVERYTHING as long as they win.
