Interesting breaking story out of California by the LA Times high school reporter, Eric Sondheimer. Nothing out yet about what sport or players but there are 10 DI players on the football team alone in the class of '16.

Something to keep an eye on as it develops.

My senior year, a couple of students stole a copy of an English test.

Our English teacher was a huge doucher, and promised to make our exam as hard as he could, "just to make sure you aren't getting senioritis."

So, two people stole his test to see if he was bluffing, and he was. The test was super-duper easy. The test got copied and passed around anyway. I think the entire grade saw the test before it was given. To make a long story short, he found out and got pissed, because he was trying to not be a douche and do us a solid for once.

He made the entire senior class re-take the test, and made it as hard as he possibly could. We had to go in on a Saturday at 7:30am, carry our own desk to the gym, take the test in an hour, return our desks too the classrooms, and then we were free to go.

No one got higher than a 75% on the re-take. We had three people get fake diplomas at graduation and then have to take summer school to get their actual diplomas because of that test.

There is none. All that was released so far that I've seen from Sondheimer and the Times is

"Per sources: Bosco Braves players accused of stealing test.. College outcomes are unknown"

That's all. Scary stuff for obvious reasons.

Bosco sold their souls to the Sports Devil several years ago. I know because my buddy used to coach basketball at Warren HS in Downey (right next to Bosco, so he knows all the coaches that were there), and Bosco was tired of getting their butts kicked in the competitive league they are in. So the admin decided to let go of their coaches in basketball and football in order to hire coaches that had AAU ties (and whatever the football equivalent is) and who could go out and recruit.

Suddenly, much like Gardena Serra (where all the USC kids come from), Bosco went from being decent in sports to be state contenders almost overnight. A couple of my former students went there and the whole demeanor of the campus changed...because the quality of the student downgraded significantly with the admission of all the new transfer students that suddenly came to the school. Both kids ended up transferring their senior years (one to Downey HS to play bball where he would star for them...he could barely get on the floor when all the new transfers showed up with the new coach), because they didn't like the direction of the school.

So this report isn't surprising at all. Bosco used to be a pretty good school academically, but they aren't recruiting Rhodes Scholars LOL to be on the sports teams. But it is disheartening. Hopefully Morgan has better sense than that, but we've seen it time and again from our own football players, so nothing would surprise me.

What are the differences between redshirting, grayshirting, blueshirting and greenshirting in college football?

Here's a quick guide to what each of these terms means, with some more explanation below.

Shirt type On scholarship? Can play? Can practice? Meaning
Redshirt -- Yes --No-- Yes-- Athlete sits from competition for a year, then gets another year to complete four seasons.
Grayshirt --No -- No --No-- Athlete waits an extra semester to become a full-time student and part of the team.
Blueshirt --Yes-- No-- Yes-- Athlete is not formally recruited, but is put on scholarship at start of freshman practice.
Greenshirt--Yes--Yes--Yes--Athlete enrolls in school a semester early.

Thought this was kind of an interesting article

Blue Chip players talk best, worst of recruiting (The top 15 players on The Detroit News Blue Chip list talk about their best and worst recruiting experiences)

Interesting fact, scUM only has one of these top 15 in MI committed to them, and his comment on why not MSU, "I am still considering them."

Interesting fact #2: ND has two of these guys compared to scUM's 1 who may not end up there

Reps for pointing this out, this is phenomenal. I keep trying to hate Dabo, then he goes and does something like this!

Its funny Dabo actually comes off as a good dude and is really charismatic but not in a total douche way that Urban Meyer might. However, there is no way that I think Clemson is "clean" by any stretch, so I've had a similar debate with myself and feelings toward Dabo.

Auburn pulled in the ninth ranked '16 class - either 4th (Rivals) or 5th (247) in the SEC.

Historically, in two years, they will have 60% of the class left. The others - Ala, LSU, Ole Miss, Ga - have higher retention rates.

Quote from a poster regarding Jeff James. Sounds like a RKG.

A good friend of mine coaches high school football in South Florida. His brother is on the Olympia roster. This is all 100% real.

He only started playing football because they were giving away free pizza at tryouts.
He tried to fight the team's bus driver on the way to a game because he wouldn't turn off into a McDonald's.
He forgot what coverage was on for a play so he ran up to the LOS picked up the ball and fired it at the other team's sideline to buy time.
After he got on the team he wore his helmet to class for the first week of the season.

You remember the Malice at the Palace? After Ron Artest knocked out the fat Mexican guy, they were dragging him off the court and he just kind of snapped. His eyes were dead and he was just blankly staring around -- that's Jeff James all the time. He's got the crazy eyes. There's nothing up top.

2017 Offers (per 247) - 12 Schools

2017 Offers (per 247) - 12 Schools

Michigan - 187 (for all of 2016 - 233)
Alabama - 144 (for 2016 - 264)
Georgia - 124
Florida - 120
Clemson - 114
Ohio State - 106
Florida State - 104
LSU - 103
Notre Dame - 88 (for 2016 - 188)
USC - 71
Stanford - 52 (for 2016 - 82)
TCU - 42
Texas - 40

From mgoblog:
Harbaugh sends out "offers." Hoke did not do that. If you had an offer from Michigan under Hoke you could commit to it. Harbaugh does the thing most people do these days and fires out offers in name only. To date he's been less than circumspect when it comes to allowing kids to commit to those offers (though sometimes that's not his call; some kids announce commitments to uncommitable offers).

A commitment is still mostly a commitment. Of the guys who left Michigan's class only two, Swenson and Weaver, were instances where Michigan flat out didn't want a guy because of their perception of his talent level.

I expect that Michigan will continue to have a few speculative commits who may or may not end up in the class for reasons academic and otherwise. Their offers will continue to keep pace with the state of the art in mangling the English langauge for marketing purposes. Some guys will take those offers. Michigan will make things clear to them, and some of them will end up in the class while others either use their status as a springboard, as Weaver did, or end up where they were going to end up anyway.

doubt anyone has the time but i would like to see what % of our offers have offers from the other schools and vice versa, what percentage of other schools offers also received an ND offer.

Looks like some correlation between the amount of offers and their final recruiting rankings.

Agree with the headline's claim or the author's position? IMG can't destroy the high school coaching profession. If high school basketball coaching survived Prep schools and then AAU, football will survive the IMG's, Primetime and what other copycats are sure to follow.
