'13 5:s: Ohio State LB Mike Mitchell is transferring to be closer to home (Texas) because of an ailing father. OSU fans think it's a big blow to LB depth, but are being extremely respectful of an obviously unfortunate and sad situation.

So that makes Hilliard a must get for them.

I think it just means McMillan and Co. will see the field faster. I'm sure they were already recruiting Hilliard very hard, and will continue to do so.

Never got the 'must get' thing.

I was wondering if a couple people could tell me which recruiting service is best? I'm thinking of joining and I just can't decide between the three, I'm not getting ESPN. You can either quote this or PM me. Thanks.

24/7 is the best national service by far now IMO. I'd go with them if you are interested in volume of coverage. I think ISD has proven to be the most objective and accurate, but they are just ND and don't provide the rankings and national services of others. But their message board and posters are better than Blue and Gold's by a good margin IMO.

In a perfect world, I think getting both ISD and 24/7 is best. Depends on if you are just looking for ND knowledge and good discussion or national recruiting news and volume.

Thanks. Are you a subscriber to any? If so which one?

Don't get II unless you like piss poor recruiting coverage and snarky remarks by Jake Brown in the threads.

But if you like that, then I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Cooks had a great cycle with the three prospects from Texas. If he had snagged either or both of the Louisiana prospects I think he would have to be in contention for the top recruiter, no? Or is that going too far?

I think that would give him a shot. Its going to be hard to pass a Vols recruiter that signed 75 kids though. Quality over quantity was Cooks approach, haha.

Too far, in my opinion. Neither of the Louisiana guys were very high in the rankings, despite their talent.

You have to be pretty confident in your evaluation of talent to accept commitments that far out.

I suppose, but if he is best player at his age in the state, what does it hurt? If he stays the best you are in early. If he doesnt pan out, there is nothing legally binding for the coach.

I bet USC is hoping they find a quiet way to cut ties with David Sills at this point. I know it's not legally binding, but it's definitely bad PR when coaches push out commitments.

It's actually not a bad resume for an entry-level position in college:
Bentley posted 119-54 record at two stints at Byrnes in two stints there and won four straight state championships from 2002-2005 before leaving to become the head coach at Presbyterian College, his alma mater, in 2007, then returned to Byrnes in 2009 and won two more titles in 2010 and 2011. He was named the 2005 Nike National High School Coach of the Year.

Not saying there aren't other motives, but it's not like he doesn't apparently know offense:

Bentley ran a renowned passing offense at Byrnes. The Rebels scored over 50 points in nine of their 12 wins this season, including an 82-49 victory in which his quarterback threw nine touchdown passes on 32 attempts for 530 yards.

Former South Carolina star and current San Francisco 49ers running back Marcus Lattimore attended Byrnes.

“Last week, the Byrnes program was labeled the sixth best dynasty in America by Rivals,”

He is definately qualified. The rest of the package is gravy.
