Since we are on the topic of new shows, did anyone see this premiere last night? I had high hopes and this show surpassed my expectations. It's rare that the writing on a tv show sticks out in front of the visuals, but the dialogue (both internal and external) is amazing. Love the storyline and can't until next week.

Heck... it must be good if they renewed them for a second season before the premiere even aired!
The Mr. Robot Pilot Was So Popular They Renewed the Show Before It Aired

Crap, that was last night? I never did get it set on my DVR. Will watch on your link or see if USA will repeat it (I am betting it will runs at least a few times before next episode hits)

I haven't watched it but I cannot stand that actor. He was in The Pacific and Need For Speed. Just something strange about him IMO.

Previews seemed like utter pandering to the "99%", but if it's as good as you say I'll give it a shot.

I didn't care for him either before this. Now I really like him. Watch the first 6:30 of the premiere (second link above) and if that doesn't change your mind, then the show probably isn't for you.

Yeah, it's not really down that line. More like pandering to the "99.99999999%". lol

What I mean by that, is that it's not a show about a hacker taking down the 1%. It's a show about guy with emotional issues that happens to be a phenom hacker. He intends on hacking simply for fun and occasionally taking down bad people. But then he meets Cristian Slater and things get turnt up to 11.

Doesn't that happen to everyone upon meeting Christian Slater?

I LOVED his character in the Pacific.... Snafu... in fact, in connection to our dialouge in the last thread, The Pacific is one of the last shows I got into (mini series of course but yeah)

Great show. Really enjoyed it.

The liberals and all the fans of wealth-redistribution will wet their pants.

In that case I'll pass lol

(Not that I consider myself the opposite of that)

Yj is a conversation and he said he liked it. lol

I can't express enough that the show isn't geared toward people that follow the 99% stuff. Haha

I'll give it a shot. I just hate shows that are geared towards either end of the spectrum.

I AM NOT A CONVERSATION!!! or conservative. GDIndependent thank you :)

Seriously though, great pilot. Acting would have been better if Slater wasn't cast LOL, but the story has great potential. I though Malek was fantastic, and Oplev has a pretty good resume himself.

A girl I went to HS worked on this show. Not sure in what capacity, just see her fb posts about it a lot.

I caught up on this show over the weekend...

I have a few thoughts:

1. Slater doesn't live up to the other actors so far (sorry Wooly lol). He just doesn't pull off the "crazy/unpredictable/unstable" gig as well as other actors might.

2. Is "Evil Corp" the biggest red-herring ever (as in, Evil Corp ends up not being all that bad, and Mr Robot ends up being the bad guys?), or is it simply lazy, over-the-top writing? Or did I miss something on the name?

3. This show is fantastic. Not overly-saturated with secondary story-lines, either. And I like how they change the title sequence depending upon the opening scene. It's the little things.

4. The character turn for Elliot once the leukemia thing was linked to Evil Corp was a bit too easy for me. I would have thought Elliot would have been a bit harder to persuade, even after hearing that big news, but maybe I'm underestimating the impact that his father's death had on him.

You guys are saying this kinda shit just to rile up ol' Bug... aren't ya?

I highly doubt that Evil Corp will end up not being that bad. I think that is why they give them the name, not to be a red herring, but rather to make them the generic evil. They have labels on everything from small electronics to the operating systems on their cpu's. I think they are more a representative of the world's evils than a specific threat to the protagonist.

3. This show is fantastic. Not overly-saturated with secondary story-lines, either. And I like how they change the title sequence depending upon the opening scene. It's the little things.

I knew a month ago...

I have a feeling that there will be more to this than we know currently. Just a hunch.
