I guess they are already kicking around the idea of a sequel or prequel

Would love a prequel explaining how shit happened. The sequel IMO is pretty predictable based on the ending, but I'm sure they could spin a movie about it.

This goes to the "I can't believe it's taken this long to see this movie" file. "Last of the Mohicans." I'm a big Michael Mann film and this is a very well-regarded movie. I've had it on my "I'll get to it eventually, list." I finally got to it and it was ... fine. I can't quibble with anything in particular. It is a well made film with good performances, beautiful cinematography, and a story that clips along. It just didn't do anything for me. I don't regret that it's taken me this long to see it and I may never watch it again. But I've talked to so many people that absolutely love the movie I was expecting to get more out of it.

Good movie, but I too didn't have enough estrogen to swoon at

"The Fog." John Carpenter's original, not the remake. It's a good, underplayed horror movie. Subtle and creepy.

Alien: Covenant was a nearly-perfect horror movie, IMO. Nice setup; didn't beat you over the head with any of the thematic elements; let the idea of the "unknown" really fester and then take over; just enough chaos to make you feel mentally strained along with the characters. Even being familiar with the other films (particularly Prometheus), they did enough to make it stand alone as a horror movie. I thought it was fantastic.

Tom Cruise's The Mummy: I honestly did not think it was nearly as bad as the reviews and audiences made it seem. I think it was a mixture of people getting their hopes up for a modern reboot of the Brenden Frasier story they know and love, combined with the fact that it lacked any actual "Egypt" stuff aside from the tomb (which was not in Egypt).

I think they handled the introduction to the expanded "Dark Universe" in a clumsy way and kind of beat the audience over the head with it, and having Russell Crowe go off the rails as Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde in a movie not dedicated to him or a full crossover was dumb, but I enjoyed the film otherwise. The mythos they were building seemed neat, despite doing too much to tie it into the film's plot.

Overall, I was entertained for the duration of the movie, and was impressed by the unexpected creepiness of certain parts. I was left curious as to what Cruise's character had in store for himself moving forward, but it appears the franchise and the expanded "Dark Universe" were both killed by a poor box office, and that bums me out. I actually thought there was great entertainment potential there, even if there were some really poorly done aspects (they fly a sarcophagus out of a tomb by tying it to a helicopter. They show the helicopter flying with the sarcophagus dangling below, twisting every which way and even doing some slight tumbling. They set the sarcophagus down, secure it to a pallet with chains and rope, and carefully slide it into an AC-130... it is at THIS POINT that the Egyptologist lady freaks out and tells the soldiers to be very careful. Wut.)

"Edge of Tomorrow" which is glibly described as "Groundhog Day" meets "Saving Private Ryan" or some other war-related movie. Really, it's a true video game movie in the sense that the writer of the novel it's based on got the inspiration from playing video games. You continue to die but learn and progress a bit further each time until you beat the game. It seems like a cheesy concept but it really works.

The script is clever and the action is well done. Tom Cruise has his movie star charisma on full blast. Emily Blunt is terrific. I think that most movies don't know what to do with female action leads. Usually the filmmakers go the route of making the action heroine a stiff, unlikable cartoon. But Blunt does better than that, giving us a true character instead of a bland, girl-power cardboard cutout.

It's a terrifically entertaining movie. I'm disappointed that a very unnecessary sequel is in the works.

I was obsessed with horror in Jr High and High School... I was basically Jamie Kennedy's character in the first Scream when it came to movies like that. My first real job was even working at a video store.

Did you ever get into the spaghetti horror/exploitation classics of the 70s-80s like Cannibal Holocaust , Cannibal Ferox, or the Demons series? Thats some good stuff.

I saw Solo yesterday with the family and I liked it more than I thought I would. I wasn’t expecting much going in but was entertained. I thought it started a little rough but got better as it went along.

Watched American Assassin with Michael Keaton. Decent movie, but Keaton is always good in whatever he does.

Just saw 'Upgrade' and I liked it. It was a clever plot with clever camera work. It seems like they were working with a short budget because they could've used another 20-30 minutes to build the story a bit more but it's definitely worth a watch.

I finally saw Solo. I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed it, though of course it had flaws...

Ehrenreich actually was pretty good as Han, though the weird drawl sorta thing was a bit distracting at times. Donald Glover as Lando was good, but his decision to imitate Billy Dee's manner of speaking the whole movie was...an interesting decision. Not one I would've gone for, but still only distracting at times. He and Ehrenreich were pretty good together I thought. Woody Harrelson did the best I thought. Emilia Clarke was not my least favorite part of the film either.

I like Paul Bettany in most of his roles, but I just didn't quite get the whole "menacing" vibe from him. Maybe him being cast so late only for reshoots has something to do with it. Who knows?

Overall, I felt a lot better walking out of Solo than I did for The Last Jedi. Very fun popcorn flick and way better than Rogue One for a standalone story. Now to hope Disney doesn't milk this dry...

Ha, one of the very few comic book movies I've liked in the last number of years was Wonder Woman too so I was hoping... maybe?? I'll never get that time back.

Okay, so I'm a Halloween junky (the Holiday) and part of all of that is the Myers films, none more so than the original. Interesting that this looks as though it ignores every film (part 2 included) aside from the original. I hope it's not over the top and done well... I'm definitely interested in it.

The mask scene was lame. I hate the Hollywood cliche of crazy people laughing = spooky. Everything else was pretty hype though. I agree it's weird that they apparently are ignoring everything after Part 1. Part 2 is pretty classic.

Yeah they for some reason didn't want the sibling tie in and 2 was when that was set up. I'm hyped at this point, just hope it's more Halloween 1,2 and H20 and less everything else... it would be so Hollywood to dump all the over the top super indestructible villain films only to go all mega super indestructible super villain... keep him human/more realistic, it's scarier that way.

Watched "Cargo", a new netflix original that just came out. I like the main character, it had ratings, it was free - why not.

Zombie movie that I did not enjoy. Maybe it's just me.
