Josey Wales is such a good movie...

Switching gears: The Sandlot is getting all this 25th anniversary love from MLB this year and they are polling players as to their fav baseball movie... I have to chalk it up to everyone being prompted to The Sandlot because it seems like 8/10 major leaguers are naming that as their all time fav baseball flick...

I have never seen the obsession with this film. It's not bad, and has some memorable moments/lines but best baseball movie ever? Yeah I don't get that, it wouldn't even be top five for me. It's just another movie really.

How about 61*?? SUCH an underrated film and a great baseball movie... also I noticed not one single player polled, at least among the teams/players I saw named The Natural... what?! I mean Little Big League got a few shout-outs and nothing for Roy Hobbs???

I like The Sandlot and think the Squints/Wendy scene at the pool is classic, but agree that the movie's not all that. Just a good coming of age film based on the game.

It would be really hard for me to name my fav baseball flick though... Natural, 61*, Field of Dreams, Bull Durham, Major League, A League of Their Own, Bad News Bears, Moneyball, The Rookie, 42, Pride of the Yankees... I mean add a few other films like Goodfellas, Shawshank, Godfather and you basically have my fav movie list, baseball or no baseball...

I've heard good things. I really enjoyed "Signs" so I'd be down to see it. Is this theatre worthy?

Some comments were that this movie is so quiet, that if you have a large crowd it gets annoying because you hear so much ambient noise.

yes I'm glad we saw it in theater, we had a rather large crowd and I think I was lucky because we dint hear any crowd noise

I'm guessing a Los Angeles theater would not be as enjoyable... lol

Same here. I thought I'd seen every one of Clint's movies, including JW, but the only bits of it I'd ever seen before were the opening where they killed his family and the scene where he shot the rope to loose the ferry. I really liked it. The old Indian chief was very funny and a great character.

Don't forget all of the Dirty Harry movies. Grand Torino was great. Every which way but loose was goofy, but funny.

The end of Unforgiven is the king of all Eastwood moments imo:

Hackman: "You just shot an unarmed man!"

Eastwood: "Well, he should have armed himself..."

Dude.

Never been a huge Dirty Harry fan. I don't dislike them, but not my favs. Grand Torino is one of my all-time favorites, though. I agree with you about Every Which Way But Loose.

A quiet place, very very good. If you liked the movie Signs you will like this one

Saw it last night at 10:30. Great time to go as there were only a couple other people in the audience. I thought it was great, even better than Signs. I was tense the entire movie. The acting was great especially considering most of it was sign language and whispers. I only have a couple of small nitpicks and I wasn’t thrilled with the way it ended, but all in all it was an awesome movie. Also Emily Blunt is possibly my favorite actress.

I think she is at the top right now for actresses

I've heard lots of good things about it:

This review from Bishop Barron (warning: it contains some light spoilers) has definitely moved it to the top of my list.

And just saw Ready player one, I enjoyed it a lot and was iffy about it going into it. Starts a little weird but then quickly turns into a Spielberg movie

I think she's underrated; never gets mentioned in "best" discussions. At least not that I'm aware of. Her ability to show emotion with her eyes is second only to Mila Kunis, IMO.

I’ll take Salma Hayek... though I’m not even sure if she has eyes....

Anyone seen Quiet Place? Or Ready Player One?

Considering seeing one of them this weekend. I'm a guy who goes to 2 movies per year.

I saw Ready Player One on Monday. Fun stuff, nothing too earth shattering.

Heard both are quite good but haven't seen either. If you're like me, you may not want to see Quiet Place if the sound of others eating and unwrapping their candy for minutes on end makes you want to put your head through a meat grinder.

Saw Ready Player One last night. It's perfectly fine; nothing spectacular.

Saw Ready Player One, but don't take my advice on it. I read the book first and it is so crammed with plot and references, I knew there would be huge amounts of adjustments to get it on the screen. May be better as a home watch where you can catch all the Easter eggs & references. It just didn't seem to have the heart/pull the audience in of earlier Spielberg movies they were probably hoping for. Just a fun little chase movie in the end.

Saw A Quiet Place. Very enjoyable and tense. The ending was a little predictable but still very good. The only problem I had was that I really couldn't buy into how aliens or creatures like that could take over... Like most movies, you just have to go with it and enjoy it for what it is.

I guess they are already kicking around the idea of a sequel or prequel
