Is the Notre Dame administration going to pay to have Co-anythings?

Realistically, I have to think that isn't an option.

I would think Mickens DC and Washington continues as run game coordinator.

Mickens has been doing a good to very good job with CBs for about 7 years now. This somewhat feels like Washingtons first good year coaching in awhile. He did NOT do well with the LBs at OSU, and was hit or miss a bit at BC in different roles.

Ben Morrision: 6'0"
Jaden Mickey: 5'11"
Christian Gray: 6'0"
Leonard Moore: 6'2"
Karson Hobbs: 6'1"
Ivan Taylor: 6'0"
Cree Thomas: 6'1"

There is officially a trend here; Mickens likes length in his secondary. As long as Mickens is in South Bend, height should be a good indicator in who they go after.

I'm fine with promoting Mickens from within, but not Mickens and Parker. What the and HC that's promoted from within. That's just too much for me.

If they would have got Ludwig (or other vet) I could see it more.

Mickens deserves the bump, Parker didn't earn it enough imo. It sucks, and I'm not sure what the answer here doe Mickens is other than Co DC, which could be awkward for a potential new DC if Golden bounces.

But I do do do not want to lose Mickens

Promote Mickens, go your separate ways with Parker. Good guy, but ND needs someone else calling the offensive plays next year.

Supposing ND finishes 11-2 this year. Best case scenario. Guys on this staff are going to be in high demand, and they probably are not going to be swayed by becoming Co-This and Co-That to stay at Notre Dame.

We'll see in another 4-6 weeks how things start shaking out, but the inevitability of this profession is probably going to manifest itself on this current staff and everyone should be prepared for it, most importantly the administration and Freeman.

Everything you're saying is good for the program provided Freeman can hire who he wants to replace the defectors.
Coaches will flock here with the realistic opportunity for advancement.

7 years ago this wasn't an attractive position for new coaches. I think with Freeman getting the HC job, Tommy getting to be OC in Alabama, , others getting love like Brian Mason, and a return to winning ways has changed that perception.

He can hire who he wants within whatever parameters are in place from his superiors. I'm not worried about this because I'm realistic enough to understand that Marcus Freeman isn't going to be able to pay his next WR coach $900K.

I think Mickens' eye for talent is so unique that we should go to great lengths to keep him at ND as long as possible. After that, I'm comfortable with Freeman working out the defensive side of the ball. It's his wheelhouse.

The offense could use an injection of new blood at a spot if someone gets poached. I hope we can keep many of our current staff but if I were guessing, this would be my order of most likely to leave:

1. Golden
2. McCullough
3. Mickens/Washington
4. Guidugli
5. Stuckey

Golden and McCullough will get some offers. Washington and Mickens will probably get offers. I'm guessing on Stuckey because he's helped recruit and restock NDs WR room and that rarely goes unnoticed. Guidugli is a mystery to me. If Hartman had slightly better numbers, I think he'd be a little warmer right now.

Successful teams lose coaches all the time. Freeman knows it's his job to have a finger on the pulse.

Might be reading too much into the tea leaves but I'm hoping that MM's status had something to do with X sticking around for one more year and foregoing the draft. Love the job Mickens has done, and he could have another great season in '24 with BenMo and X both coming back.

It was noted that Watts (and BenMo) co-starred in Leonard’s commitment video. Which maybe you don’t do if you’re not staying. Or maybe means nothing.

Probably not realistic to expect Golden to stay too much longer. But if he really doesn’t like recruiting I’m not too worried about losing him to another college program. NFL is another story.

Yep, that's why I'm operating under the assumption that he's back. It would be weird to have two players, on the opposite side of the ball no less, who aren't both returning featured on your transfer video. If not, why wouldn't he have Alt on there? Or Hartman "passing the torch" in some fashion?

More likely that those are two fellow captain candidates.

Not sure he has the connections to Satterfield.
But he does to Cincy and it would be a promo... But he also can hang at ND knowing Golden is likely to leave in the not too distant future for another opportunity (NFL?)
