Neither am I. I’ve always gotten slightly shorter Deion Walker vibes from him. Apparently UGA didn’t put up much of a fight to keep him home.
he looked stiff and slow last year to me, then didn't do anything to change that in the spring game. Thomas albeit far from a burner, looked like he can make some plays.

If Raridon is 100% that will help us go to 2 TE sets and have 2 dynamic TEs. You saw what Brock Bowers did as a true frosh at Georgia so it's not crazy despite his injury that he could get some PT, he is a freak athlete for his size

I think right now Rees would for sure be in that category had he not hooked Carr in the 2024 class, especially after he went all-in on Dante and whiffed.
Again.
He (also Freeman) didn't go all in
Dante was literally committed
ND takes silents from players all the time
Hard to accept a commitment and try to get more commitments

Agreed. Amazing how some people don't realize this. They are going to rip the coaches but the coaches had a verbal at a minimum. Why the hell would they continue recruiting other QBs. For those that are upset I would love to know how the staff could've played this different. I'm all ears .

Rees was paid to fumble that ball and throw the game!...It's irrelevant he had the Irish up 24-7 going into the 4th quarter and our defense gave up 28 points in the final 15 minutes.
He did have a couple bad picks before then too including in the red zone.

I woke my neighbors up yelling at the TV

Want instant high blood pressure?
Watch the game highlights from Under the Lights.
How that game was lost is still unbelievable.

The worst part was Michigan talking shit after when they won from a few unforced turnovers, numerous freak plays that never happen, and that damn phantom fumble at the end that would've iced it.
Worst loss in my lifetime.

Agree, we really need to run tempo at times and not sure how you do that with our depth

If any of styles lenzy Thomas colzie or merriweather get injured or are a bust we’re in trouble…. And I’m not high on colzie

At least our top 5 guys are legit. Much better than many years. Agree they gotta stay healthy.

I find it hard to pin many losses on Rees from 2010-2013 when the guy was generally playing above his status as our other QBs struggled to lace their shoes. There certainly are exceptions, but not Michigan in 2011. A 4 score lead at the start of the 4th in the Big House should have been enough to put the Wolverines away. That one will always be on Diaco and the defense.

Hard to give up on Colzie after a non redshirt freshman year. He sat behind veterans last year and he didn't have the presumed #1 QB throwing him passes at the B&G game. Yes he should've made more plays, but the QB play at the B&G game didn't help.

I'll never give up on someone after a true freshman season. He'll probably end up being good

If he works hard, he'll be good.

I can't ever remember Prister being this down on a guy, so early. Not even Jordan Johnson who refused to put in physical/academic work. I wonder if Colzie stood Prister up for an interview or something lol

Not since that borderline five star defensive tackle from Virginia who couldn’t make it out of his Culver dorm room without over heating and puking

Yeah, not ready to give up on Colzie either. He and Styles were pancaking USC DBs last year, they were both hungry to see the field. Styles caught on earlier, but Colzie's not reached Lenzy/Koyack potential yet. Too soon.

If Freeman can’t get the best out of him no one will I’m afraid. All 3 of our new recruits are known for their work ethic. Maybe the culture will rub off on him.

I really don't get it either. People who are knocking Buchner and/or Colzie....they're true freshman, it's a problem with people tempering their expectations.

The Buchner stuff is a bit much as he’s got the potential to be good. Colzie has been criticized for work ethic. That’s more troubling, particularly if it’s bad enough that the media is dogging you. I can’t imagine what kind of lazy it takes for the media to say stuff. I’d have to believe even giving a decent effort would make you go unnoticed.

That's fair and all but this is still a teenager who might be taking a little longer to catch on to the grind. It's one thing to play HS ball and be blessed with talent and not having to work incredibly hard to be a stud; it's another to learn the ropes of balancing a full semester of academic credits plus a full time job in collegiate football, against kids who were similarly blessed with the same athletic traits as yourself.

Too early to write the kid off. Maybe with Tobias arriving, if he hits the ground running it will wake Colize up and realize he needs to get his act in gear, if any of that is indeed true.

Okay, so I HAVE to voice a concern here. . . Hopefully it is just rooted in my 34 years of disappointments since ND last title.

Freeman's coaching team is killing it on the recruiting trail. He is clearly a "players coach." I like all of this. It's been amazing the past 6 months or so to watch the mo build like I can't recall seeing since Lou's days in the mid 80's to early 90's.

Here is my concern. I am just not getting the head coach "leader in the room" vibe from Freeman. He seems nervous in his press interviews. He seems to "chummy" and not "clear leader" in his approach. I don't get a confidence vibe from him. He seems in over his head at times.

Hopefully all of this is due to his inexperience and the raw talent and "it" factor are there. It may also be that he is a far more of a leader when the camera isn't on. But the above concerns mixed with the Ok State loss in the fashion they lost has me nervous in his ability to be an effective HC on game day.

There, I've said it. . . Hope I am wrong in a BIG way. Hopefully he is just cut from a different cloth and is a Dungy or Pete Carroll kind of HC.

Well, no words will fix this angst, just games and wins. I am hopeful.

36 year old, first year head coach in perhaps the most pressured job in the sport. I'm sure he's nervous/uncomfortable with the media. But football is his element, and I'm confident he's not over his head on the field.

Carroll is probably a good comparison (in theory).
He just needs to be a CEO and let his coaches coach.
Manage the clock, be aggressive on the field by letting his second stringer play to win in blowouts, and recruit his butt off.

I am hopeful as well. In fact, in my view, if Freeman can get it done on the field, I think ND is a top 3-4 team annually. And herein may be my angst. It could be a "too good to be true" fear as a long time fan. Because if he gets it done in the win column we WILL be a college football juggernaut once again, and being so close to see it become a mirage would suck. But its better than Kelly's decade of "play it safe approach"

Im all in on Freeman, I am hopeful he can live up to it, but am just afraid he may not.

Glad the season is almost here . . .Go Irish! ☘️☘️ And best of luck to coach Freeman!!

Just remind yourself you don't know anything about football and what you're doing is preparing yourself for a letdown because everything we've seen thus far has been great. It's the Irish way to fret about which pin will pop the balloon. Shake it off and be hopeful while we still can because in a month, we'll have to contend with the reality as it unfolds.

It's a coin flip but Freeman has done all the right things so far so I'm going to hope for the best until he starts stacking reasons for me to begin doubting.

I like Freeman and I think is work ethic is that of a head coach that wants to be great. He has great swag without being cocky.

But he seemed a little lost in answering questions from the media and his smile/wink he did a few times was corny.

I get it that this is his first time being a head coach at one of the biggest media attractions but you are already cool enough don’t go make it werid.
