Hopefully he delegates more to Golden and the experience on the staff so that he can focus on the little things he needs to.
I think that is a big reason he hired Golden. He's got a ton to learn and keep track of. The less he needs to focus on defense, the better.Hopefully he delegates more to Golden and the experience on the staff so that he can focus on the little things he needs to.
Hmmm.
Hmmm.
Bend over. There's more to pump up there. lolDammit, I'm tryin' not to buy into all this sunshine...
Hmmm.
Reesus forever! He's gonna stay OC for the next 15 years while they win 5 Nattys, then he takes over as HC when Freeman has to retire due to health concerns from burning the candle at both ends for so long. What’s he gonna say tho??? ‘We need to look for another OC soon and who dafaq knows what’s going on really,… but GO IRISH!!’
I think the talent he's bringing in with these next couple of classes might be an excellent draw for some coordinators that find themselves on the job market.I think he did a great job of putting a staff together. Keeping Rees was key and the Golden hire is probably going to turn out to be a strategic master class.
That being said, fully expect many of them to be provided with other opportunities in the next few years as the program succeeds. How he juggles that and fills openings going forward will be a test. I do think he's going to have more of a reach than Kelly did early in his tenure and will probably have more reach than Kelly did at the end.
Kelly hit the nail on the head with three consecutive DC hires. Freeman is probably going to have to absolutely hit a home run on his next OC hire, whoever and whenever that will be.
Joe Moorehead, confirmed.I think the talent he's bringing in with these next couple of classes might be an excellent draw for some coordinators that find themselves on the job market.
If he can continue ND's on field success, it will be an attractive gig for a talented coach who is either on the rise or perhaps stumbled as a head coach at another program, but is looking for an opportunity to bounce back. I think he'll have a lot of options if/when that day comes.
Agreed. Who knows what the pool of candidates will look like when the time comes, but there are a lot of young guys out there like Freeman who are on the offensive side of the ball chomping at the bit for an opportunity like ND.I think the talent he's bringing in with these next couple of classes might be an excellent draw for some coordinators that find themselves on the job market.

I need the context here because this is one of my top 5 favorite scenes in movie history.![]()
LFG.
I hope Marcus is having an honest conversation with Jack today. I’d be pissed. Put in all this work only to be hamstrung by your own administration.
My dad (loosely follows ND football behind the scenes) was so pissed about the NCAA vacating the 2012 wins. What don’t you understand that the school CAN’T be involved in the money?
And you know that ND is Always going to follow the rules.
All in on Marcus Freeman.I need the context here because this is one of my top 5 favorite scenes in movie history.
This is a conversation I’ve had with myself many times,…My dad (loosely follows ND football behind the scenes) was so pissed about the NCAA vacating the 2012 wins.
Dad: "I cant believe the NCAA is investigating tests while UNC has fake classes" (big news at the time"
Me: "The NCAA isn't investigating, ND self-reported it to the NCAA"
Dad: "Why am I an ND fan again?"
Me: "Says the man who brain washed me before I was born..."
I think there are level headed people that will have the right approach: that Saturday is just the first of many games that HCMF will be coaching. I don't see any use in caring about the opinions of people making massive jumps to conclusion based on a single result.Good chance he is labeled either the messiah or out of his depth based on Saturday night's result. Hope the fanbase keeps perspective that most college football games are won 12-24 months prior to kickoff and we are headed the right direction in that regard.
Yes, excellent story. The Athletic is totally worth the money and its college football coverage is very good across the board.![]()
The formation of Marcus Freeman: How Ohio State shaped his Notre Dame blueprint
As mentor Jim Tressel watches Saturday's game at Ohio Stadium, he may see as much of himself in Notre Dame as he does Ohio State.theathletic.com
Great piece and another testament to The Athletic being worth the money.
