I would think not. I just don't see him giving up what he has going for a 24/7 job. I f he leaves the booth, I can't imagine it wouldn't be for a pro job.

I mean... I love Dan Patrick, but this sounds like trolling for eyeballs/eardrums. I could hypothetically see Gruden coming out of the booth to do it and USC is a cushy job, but every time a job has come open after the last few years Gruden's name has been STRONGLY floated and not once was it accurate. Was there any specific evidence Patrick provided? did he sound very confident? Or did he just say "sources"?

It was not exactly that quote but Gruden did say something in that regard. It was a typical retired coach quote not opening or closing the door.

I don't think he was trolling for points. He just said that Gruden had made that statement and DP's interpretation was that it was going to take one of the premier jobs to get him to coach again and then referenced USC being one of those jobs.

I didn't listen today so I do not what was said about Gruden. In the past though, whenever Gruden's name has come up as a coaching prospect, Dan has said that he is not going to XYZ. He was the most adamant that the Gruden to Tennessee rumors were false. If DP is saying this has legs, that has me a bit concerned.

Guess I need to go listen to the podcast.

I also do not see him leaving the comfy gig he has as ESPN, BUT it was not too long ago that Irish fans were similarly deluding themselves into thinking that he would leave the NFL to come to South Bend.

Guess that is why it is called the coaching carousel. Everything eventually comes full circle.
