I think he starts off 3-0 and then is quickly 3-3 in 2025.

He takes a trip to Penn State in November too.

They would have been a pick em against Tennessee based off essentially every single power rating system. We aren't getting the credit we deserve for handling them in that manner. They are the #8-#12 best team in the country.

Shit just look at Parker Fleming / CFB Insiders projector if they were to play UGA (with Beck)

Their defense actually was fairly good. Their offense didn’t seem dynamic

I think they are pretty good. When they played teams with similar Jimmy's and Joe's they dominated.

They struggled with or got beat by Michigan, OSU, and Notre Dame...just like 95% of teams would.

I think a lot of people got stuck on some eye/star ranking test. The idea of Indiana being a top 10 team is probably too much for many minds to comprehend.

I liked his swagger and attitude when it was directed elsewhere. He’s trying to instill a culture at IU, but seemed to believe his own hype at the end. I wish him luck.

Just saw their schedule: 2025 Indiana Football Schedule | FBSchedules.com

Agree with you. I think they benefit from their second tier of opponents (MSU, Illinois, UCLA, and Wisconsin) being home games, but @ Oregon, @ PSU, and to a lesser extent, @ Iowa is likely not going to be too fun for Cig.

Idk if he believed it based on his coaching decisions in the Notre Dame game. It seemed almost like he wanted the score to be respectable for recruiting

Quite a whiplash to read this thread considering the mood of the board the past few weeks has been, “leave the highly paid shit talking HC of a playoff contender alone!!!”

All I've seen is a diversity of opinion, and most can find something to dislike about Cig, but I like his approach this week: "We're playing a 3-0 team that's undefeated." Deduct a point for redundancy, but talking up the opposition is usually a good idea.

I just think it's calling out of a program who's having its first significant success in program history who's not even a rival as a fraud is beneath us as a blue blood program.

I mostly bumped this as a reminder it's here so it can continue just not in the other threads.

I looked back and saw I wanted to see what he did against Oregon and Penn State. Fairly certain he's going to get both this year.

I feel bad for Tim Skipper
On one hand, I agree. On the other, what does "Special Assistant to the Head Coach" even mean? If you accept that job in the first place you are asking to be forgotten as an interim HC

He’s not a fraud. An asshole? Yes. Full of himself? Absolutely. But a fraud? I don’t think so.
There needs to be a line between Cignetti 2024 and Cignetti 2025. The 2024 dude was an absolute clown who was fraudulent because he roared like a lion to the media and then coached like a kitten in the playoffs. People have memory holed how much shit he talked.

2025 Cignetti is way more on the level. There isn't any false bravado or chest thumping, and their team is playing better than last year too.

Indiana isn’t losing a game until the big 10 championship. Funny enough UCLA is probably their hardest remaining game

I still think there's some fraud there. They had a 3 game preseason where they beat the sisters of the poor by combined score of 156-24....

We have the benefit of hindsight, and give him praise for getting Oregon in Eugene, but after that are any of their wins impressive?

I'd take that schedule every year and buy playoff tickets in August.

It'll be interesting to see how Indiana does against real playoff teams, if they fold again or actually get competitive this time. Indiana's schedule is bound to get a bit tougher in the coming years too. Cig may decide to bounce before that happens.

Absolutely. One game doesn't prove your mettle, look at Miami in 2017 and 2025 against us. Both times their fans thought they were hot shit and going to run the table on the way to a championship. Jury is still out on 2025 obviously, but if Louisville is any indication they are beatable against even decent teams. A true playoff team may beat them good.

Just sayin', the consensus was with me up until a month ago. Some people really changed up and not get really defensive of any criticism of a coach who is not affiliated with ND in any way.
