This is sports culture today. Everybody yaps before, during and after a game. USC players were jawing the entire game against ND. I couldn't figure out why considering their situation prior to and in that moment. I like celebrations, bat flips, enthusiasm of any kind. I also know where to draw the line and when the line is crossed, you have taunting and cuntiness. Goes without saying I thought Cignetti had a pretty big mouth leading up to this game. He wins wherever he goes, and IU had their best football season ever, but I think at some point maybe it's better to glide into a contest like a shark. Silent and deadly.
Or just bang on pots and pans, yap and holler so everyone knows you're coming. Whatever floats your boat. I want to see what he does against Penn State and Oregon down the line.
I really prefer to win in silence. Make everyone think you're losing or they don't even know you're there.
Cignetti's Marshall/NIU moment is likely coming right around the corner. No shame in going 11-2 with losses to Ohio State and Notre Dame, but this guy's real comeuppance is only a matter of time.
