See, grammar matters!!!

(I took a little copy editor liberty. I hope you don't take offense since none was intended.)

none taken good sir. it is terrible painful to post on my Droid. got a system update one day and suddenly my autspace between words didn't work and it doesn't capitalize first word after a period. so my attempts at proper grammar have diminished due to frustration.

i actually was looking forward to your post on the matter though!

A travesty and a tragedy. When I was a student, they had the basement open and had a bar down there. After I graduated, they closed the basement bar down. Not sure if they ever reopened it.

The bar never reopened. But I had been to the basement many times :)

I think even if he left ND would be fine. The group of assistants around him would carry the day.

Seriously? None of them are ND head coaching material at this point (not a speck of D-1 head experience between them), and any new coach is going to want to bring in mostly his own guys.
No idea why Kelly's extension isn't done yet, but will feel a lot better when it is. And episodes like Golson and Vanderdoes don't make one feel any easier about it.

it would SUCKSUCKSUCK if Kelly leaves but it would be much much worse if ND loses Jack Swarbrick.

As long as Jack is around i have faith the right coach will be at nd, i that means Kelly for ten or his predecessor.

His predecessor is the reason Kelly got the job. He was the coach BEFORE Kelly.

Just saying ;)

Any subsequent hiring after Kelly would have to be a MASSIVE upgrade, and to be honest, Kelly's been great at ND and I don't want to hear about him flirting with the NFL ever again. I just want to see him last another seven years, with consistently good to great teams in the mix for top tier bowls and NCs.

No doubt the loss of revenue was irreplaceable.

Agree on all points.

There are some potential head coaches on the current staff but ND isn't the place for Head Coach OJT.

See Brennan, Faust, Davie, and Weis.

Revenue was the matter. Mo (the owner) died shortly after the city shut the bar down.

He didn't need the money. He needed something to live for.

Interesting as I watched Sportscenter tonight and they rolled the Tebow film (his first day at Pats practice), I saw BK on the field watching the practice. He is from Worcester Ma, which is only 40 minutes from Foxboro, so make of it what you will. Wonder how often he gets to practices like this.

Yeah, as noted in the Kizer thread, DeShone actually got to talk to Brady and Tebow when he committed. Pretty cool.

He played in a golf tournament with Belicheck several months ago. I'm not reading anything into that other than BK has some ****ing sick connections.

The Pats have an unathletic, slow QB who has done pretty well. We have an unathletic, slow QB too (Okay so there QB has a much better arm). Maybe we are trying to help Rees improve his play.

They also use their TEs pretty well...

Belichick constantly has coaches in and out of camp to talk shop. When the Pats aren't in session and colleges are, he makes the rounds to schools, too. I've noted this on here before. Saban and Urbs are frequently in that rotation, as was Chip Kelly. I'm not sure how prevalent of a thing that is around the league, but for the Pats it is pretty normal. From a ND standpoint, I think it is great for BK to be in that circle.

And 1 more thing, Tebow was wearing number 5. While BK was there. Coincidence? I think not.

Willingham made it look like he was getting OJT. Stanford wasn't exactly a great program there for a number of years until Harbaugh came around. I think he ended up with one real good year in Palo Alto and that was before the USC dynasty and the rise of Oregon.

Maybe if we all stop checking this post, the post and rumors will just disappear

I agree. I consider Willingham the worse head coach in ND history.

I just can't picture Brian Kelly in the NFL. He's a teacher and developer of talent. Dealing with college players is where he is best suited.
