-Holley is a lost cause. Either PSU if LJ stays, or Florida.
-McKenzie's scores improved, but not enough for him to be a take. Really wants to be at ND if he can. GPA also an issue. So it's basically what we've been saying this entire time. No worries about the relationship with McKenzie or American Heritage as ND has been very honest and upfront throughout the whole thing and there is only good vibes. There is a lot more "optimism" from people down there that McKenzie will make the necessary strides than there is from the people at ND.

That's about all the important notes.

Here goes...

-McKenzie up 100 points on recent SAT. Still more work to do, but he's battling.
-Nothing new on Nelson that isn't in the upshot thread. Has 4 OV on tap, including one to Florida who is making a renewed push for him. I personally could see things trending towards him staying in Florida if he's a take for UF.
-Oklahoma vs UCLA vs ND for Quick. I'd have ND running third right now, but we've got a chance.
-On Dickerson, didn't lie to coaches per some erroneous reports. Situation is legit and he really wants to be at ND but they made a family decision to keep him in Cali to make it easier on everyone.
-Lots of open spots now, so the staff might sit down soon and consider some late offers. Do we revisit anyone? I'm not sure. Erik Brown and Payton Hendrix can't play interior DL.........

The real intel I want is what the coaches are doing on the trail for the 2014 class. With the defection of Dickerson and the loss of GA3, Tuitt, and Niklas-are there more offers going out (although late in the game for that)? Who will they be trying to flip? Is ND going to achieve 85?

Yup. These are the million dollar. They now have a true need they weren't expecting to have on the interior DL that they need to fill, and they have two extra spots. Who do they revisit? Who gets a new offer?

Agree. Tons of speculation now until everyone gets back.

I think the Barnett stuff is super interesting, and that could be a really crazy trend going forward. You might find high schools with solid relationships to college coaches start molding their play book based on where their players are going to play CFB.

Edit: Lax didn't include this, but there's a little Intel that Barnett's high school coach will talk with the staff and start molding their offensive play book towards ND's.

QB coach is chosen, and has accepted. Announcement soon.

IM - nothing new. We want him, he has strong interest, but Mike doesn't think has 100% qualified yet.

There is mutual interest with Malik McDowell. We are going to try and get an in home, but nothing is official yet.

Mike said the strongest interest is coming from Michael Sawyers, everything else is just lukewarm at this point. Also, we could expect a few more DT prospects coming on the board soon.

On McKenzie (edit to remove quote from Frank) there's interest both ways, still not qualified, and interview with admissions when/if he gets on campus will be big. So basically status quo from forever ago before all of the whirlwind of BS and cross talk. ND recruiting him, but odds are towards him signing with a school like Florida or Ole Miss where he is a 100% take right now. Honestly, I'll be very surprised if he even makes it to his planned visit, but I really hope he does because his talent is that much of a need.

The QB coach has been hired and the name should leak out soonish. Going through "the process" right now.

Sawyers is the only DT really expressing strong interest in this point. Everyone else is listening but not really locking in visits/high interest. Same applies to McDowell where the interest is lukewarm right now. Elston checking out more names this week too.

No. I think if that happens things would change. But we can expect Elston to get out and look at some more DT guys next week, all else equal I'm assuming.
