So what now? Sign Mitch Trubisky? Trade for Jimmy Garoppolo? I don’t think you have enough assets for Derek Carr or Kyler Murray.

Best to cut your losses and move on.

The Commanders will be taking on Wentz’s full contract, which results in $22 million (with $6.294 million roster bonus) in 2022; $20 million (with $6.176 million roster bonus) in 2023; and $20 million (with $6.235 million roster bonus) in 2024.

Additionally, the Colts will receive two third-round picks (one is potential in 2023 if Wentz plays 70 percent of plays) and a second-round pick. The Commanders get Wentz and a second-round pick.

Word is Saints and one other are going after Jimmy G. After the Wentz trade last year, the Colts don’t have a lot of draft capital to trade. On the positive, the this trade gives the Colts $70M in cap room, the most in the NFL.

Fitzmagic? With the cap space they have, might be a year of transition before trying to get Young or Stroud. Seems like Seattle might be trying to do the same though.

Colts might be too talented to have a Top10 pick.

I get an icky feeling they will trade for Jimmy G. With QB you have to swing for fences or strikeout. Don't make the same Wentz mistake by trading draft capitol. Jimmy G might ultimately get dropped anyway.
If the Colts got rid of Wentz just to get a Jimmy G that would be a big mistake.

Feel bad for the guy. He's been off the past couple years. Still had decent numbers last year. Anyway, hope he does well in the Swamp. But bit exactly an easy place to do well.

They’re not going to be shitty enough next year to have a top pick. I’ve read some rumors today they might be interested in Jordan Love. Not sure how I feel about that. As a fan I don’t feel like there is a good, realistic option.

Wonder if GB would trade Jordan love now.
Had this convo with my buddies last night, spitballing potential candidates. Last year of his rookie deal, might come at a decent price. Truly unproven commodity, but he has the tools and obviously he’s learned under one of the best. I’m for it and I’d prefer that to Jimmy G.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Colts pick up Howell in the second round and ride with him next year.

Article in The Athletic made it seem that Irsay was ready to move on from Wentz earlier in the season. The last two games just solidified his decision. Ballard said the QB decision will be his this time. lol

Sign Trubisky
Draft Howell or Corral. Both should be available at 42.

Rest assured, with the amount of teams desperate for a QB, somebody will make them a stupid offer they won't be able to refuse.

A lot of talk of Trubisky going to the Giants to compete with Daniel Jones for the QB1 job.

As an owner of the Pack, I'll allow it.

In all seriousness, what a joke of a first round draft pick. I'm not saying he wasn't worth it, but they look like fools for ever drafting him just to look so desperate to retain Rodgers and do this silly song and dance the past two off-seasons.

In general, I think the Packers front office have done a really nice job building a solid roster, but this one is a glaring miscue, in hindsight. Still don't have a solid #2 WR after all these years....

Don't forget he does have a team option for a fifth, so it's not like he's a true one year rental. It would give any team flexibility to cut him loose if he's a disaster or keep him on the cheap to work out an extension in 2023-24.

Brian Gutekunst said they aren't willing to trade him but idk if there's much truth to that. I think you try to move him if a team's willing to give up a few picks, maybe a second rounder or few thirds. Don't think there's any way we'd net a first rounder for an unproven guy like that.

Conspiracy time: what if Tom Brady came out of retirement?!

I think Bruce Arians already said they wouldn't let him leave if he decided to come back, but there aren't many rosters that are ready to be as competitive as Indy with the right QB....

Skip QB in the draft, load up on positions of need. Trade back if possible to start to make up for the lost draft capital. Then, go all in on the Deshaun Watson sweepstakes when he ultimately clears his name around July/August after massive payoffs. He'll need the new contract, don't know if Houston would play ball with an in-conference rival

Pretty sure Houston won't deal in the AFCS. Maybe not in the AFC.

Except for maybe the Tampa Bay Buccaneers...

There’s no chance the Colts would make a move for Watson. He’s got way too much baggage whether or not he’s indicted. It’s going to be a PR shit show for any team that tried to land him.

To play devil's advocate..

Michael Vick made a comeback, and he wasn't facing allegations of what he may or may not have done...

The next rumor will be Kaepernick. Word on the radio is that his agent is contacting teams as he is in the "best shape of his life" and ready to get back into football. You have to be very desperate to sign a 34 year old ex-player that hasn't played in 5 or 6 years. That's even if he didn't have the baggage.

Time has a way of smoothing over things. If the criminal charges get dropped I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of teams try to get him.

Just heard on Dan Patrick that the Colts are talking to the Raiders about Carr.
