Yeah because the Colts franchise really deserves to get immediately gifted a generational QB to squander/ruin again after having one bad season.

Luckiest bad franchise in history. They're the Browns but with everything bouncing their way.

Good for Luck making a decision best for him. I feel bad for the rest of the Colts team but they'll figure it out.

Hope Andrew has a long, healthy and happy life. He certainly shouldn't want for anything

Huh? They got rid of the face of the franchise, Manning, who still went on to compete in two more super bowls. It was a tactical tanking, not luck, in order to acquire the top QB prospect. That QB then going and retiring at a young age is the exact opposite of lucky. The Colts were a title contending team for the next few years most likely. Luck just squandered that opportunity. This team will also be too good to pick up Lawrence. They are stuck in freaking average QB purgatory now.

You sound like you're just salty to have been playing in the same division as a top of the league QB for several years.

Yeah no shit

Add that they squandered most of Peyton's career with their mediocre management and ruined Luck by not getting him an OL until he was physically compromised. As a titans fan they were annoying because they could win the AFC South on QB talent alone. As a football fan they've committed borderline malpractice on the careers of some of my favorite individual talents to watch.

As a huge Colts fan, I'm disappointed but I guess I can understand his decision. Luck was a great quarterback and we always had a chance with him under center. I wish him nothing but the best!!

P.S. Shame on some of our fans who had the nerve to boo him. It shows a lack of class and I was truly upset and disgusted!

Manning happened to have what many though was a career ending injury at the perfect moment for the Colts to replace him with the next generational talent. Now it's possible it could happen again with Tua or Lawrence.

They have too many pieces to make a still formidable team for them to lose enough to get Lawrence. Maybe Tua, but we'll see.

Tua will be 2020, Lawrence 2021 right? Assuming Tua has the same or better year, he'll likely be #1 and like you said, Colts likely won't be that bad. 2021 is an unknown though. Brissett may be gone, and they might go into tank mode if they decide not to keep some of their guys coming up for FA.

I'd be happy if they let big Q play QB next year.....

I guess you're probably right that Tua comes out after this year. Making both unlikely probably.

We aren't talking about his heart or his brain. He just quit on his team two weeks before the start of the season because his calf and ankle were hurting.

He has made over 100 million dollars in seven years playing a sport in which players have been known to cut fingers off, have metal plates inserted and have holes drilled through joints in order to regenerate tissue.

Luck has the right to do this. And Colt fans have the right to question his physical and mental toughness.

Yeah, it's called the NFL. Pretty much happens to every QB. Romo played with broken ribs and colar bones. Wentz already has two ACL injuries and a broken back.

So the Colts have decided not to recoup the $23 million they could take back from Luck. Can you imagine? Not saying he's deserving of it all or not deserving of it all, but can you imagine quitting your job being paid in advance and you keep $23 million? I won't see a quarter of that sum in my lifetime, makes one sick when you think about it.

What does the two weeks part matter? He hasn’t even been practicing. There was no way he was going to be available when the season started regardless.

Cause they could've sought out other options in the draft or FA. Seems pretty obvious it's not great for your best player to leave the team at a point where there is nothing they can even try to compensate for it.

Good for them? Luck decided he didn’t need that any more. Honestly I’m surprised more players don’t make the same decision all the time. Make a few hundred thousand, or a few million, and get out while you still have something resembling your health.

Agree the timing’s not ideal but, honestly, so what? NFL teams cut players loose, including injured ones, all the time and owe them nothing more than last week’s paycheck. If the occasional player decides to do the same, that seems fair.

Probably has more to do with keeping his option than being nice. If they went after the money, etc. and settled, he'd be free and clear to go anywhere. This way, if he does come back, they still have his rights.

Timing is just horrible for the team honestly. We could of signed Big D!ck Nick in the off season and would of only lost a little bit. His decision isn't something that you just wake up and say "Hey time to retire!"

I don't want to see Tua in a Colts uniform and I just don't see us getting Sunshine. Not sure where we go from here but I know there is a season of being mediocre ahead for my Colts!

Good Luck in life Andrew and thank you for all you have done. You will be missed NECK BEARD!!!

A few thoughts.

1. If the injuries are really the reason he's mentally worn down, I wouldn't be surprised if he comes back after he gets healthy.
2. I wouldn't have booed him if I had been at the game, but I'm guessing he got booed because the previous week he was warming up with the QB coach doing drills prior to the preseason game. I thought I had heard it was his idea.
3. I have no idea how much pain he had, but if it was that bad why was he going through the drills?
4. Sports shows will now have doctors on their shows giving us their opinion on how much pain he may have which will create more discussion on if he's a quitter.
5. Lay this squarely on Ryan Grigson. If the dick would have drafted some decent linemen (didn't have to be Q quality) we're probably not having this discussion.
6. Given this will be Brissett's first go round as a starter under Reich, we'll see if he is good or not as the rest of the offense is playoff caliber.

Quit on his team, huh? Do you think he abandoned them? Is he a traitor? What do you think his responsibility was to the team?

Did he owe anyone anything?

Wven did Wentz hurt his knee the first time? I don't recall him having a bum knee in high school and in college when he was out it was for a broken arm.

I like Andrew Luck. Always have. He nearly went to Northwestern and had he done so, a lot of people's fortunes would have changed.

Human beings are self serving. He's doing what he wants to do for himself and fans are upset about it. This too shall pass.

Lots of unanswered questions. One of the guys (I think on G&W) was talking about his conversations with several Colts players. He said Luck was doing a lot more than what was filmed (him doing the drill) during camp away from the cameras. The "injury" is total mystery to me... no wrap on his ankle, doesn't look to be wincing, etc.. Also, we know that he was thinking about this for two weeks, and made the decision probably a week ago since they worked out the details on the 24M.

Personally, I think he'll be back after a year or two. And yes, I agree Grigson carries a good portion of the game.

I not sold on JB, but I hope he proves me wrong. I do think Kelly has "it" if he can keep his head on straight.

I think they retain his rights regardless.

Sports radio has been crazy with talk. Conspiracy theorists are saying Irsay is letting him keep the money because the medical staff screwed up and allowing him to keep the bonus is the hush money.

Regardless, he has to have been entertaining this thought for quite a while and in the last few weeks he finally came to his decision.

Can you imagine if Ronnie 'cut my finger off' Lott or Charles Haley were on this team?

They would drag his ass out of the building, give him a swift kick in the ass and say 'get the fuck off of our team.'

Good grief what a flake.
