So you weren't at any games in 2007...Michigan 2009...Tulsa...USF...Michigan 2011...MSU 2016

My list is long it seems...

Yep. I sure was. The game itself didn't piss me off, as bad as those games were. We weren't guest in our own gd stadium.

ND needs to figure some stuff out about selling to Irish fans. I bet they are open to ideas

Never had a worse game day experience in my life.

Wooly I feel for you my man-I've been to only 5 games in my life and I'm a lifelong fan for 53 years people like me who have no access to tickets would drive 700 miles and go thru all the hardships of the trip etc to pull for the Irish and to see that display tonight of unmitigated disregard for the program by people who are supposed to be Notre Dame Nation--- is the biggest disappointment of my life as a fan. I will say I called it earlier in the week because I live in Ga and heard all the noise about taking over the stadium and bullying South Bend and Notre Dame stadium. Its something that the institution has to live with and its something that needs to be corrected. This was beyond forgiveness of a fan base that has lost its way. If I was an incoming coach or even Brian Kelly later next week I would make a very negative comments on this subject to make the point and protect my players from a fan base that deservers no respect. And to the point of the Irish faithful that were at the game I saw your pulling for the guys and THANK YOU job well done!!!!! REMEMBER GUYS LIKE ME ARE THE ONES WHO DRIVE UP FOR THE SPRING GAME BECAUSE ITS THE ONLY GAME WE CAN GET TICKETS FOR AND TO SEE THAT DISPLAY TONIGHT WAS SICKENING BY A FAN BASE THAT NEEDS A KICK IN THE %$#.

Not a guest in your own stadium how pathetic is that-and Ga is laughing all the way home.

I can't even begin to understand how something like this could happen. I was so disappointed the second I saw the crowd on TV. Utterly maddening!

I just hope the same thing doesn't happen when I attend my first ND home game vs Navy.

Reps to you, Wooly, once I get home, this needed to be said.

In the post game the former players said you don't really pay attention to color in the stands when the game starts, you're just concerned with the team across from you. That said, this was embarrassing and complete bullshit. We had no home field advantage, the team could have used the extra support and the defense could have used the extra disruption. I was at that Nebraska game almost 2 decades ago and this game felt worse...and while they weren't completely awful, the Dawg fans weren't nearly as polite as the Huskers.

Our family decided not to renew our season tickets after 20 years in the gold seats. Shilling/extorting for extra donations on top of the usual stuff was the straw that broke the camel's back, we just got single games. I scoped out our old seats though, 5 rows behind the opposing bench, and there were Dawg fans there now. Either ND sold out, or the new ticket holders did. Made me sick. Screw anyone that sold their tickets to Georgia fans. They should lose their tickets.

Just to clarify it was nowhere near 50/50 so let's not exaggerate like that. TV probably looked terrible because it views from the press box towards the side of the field where all the red was. The entire side of the stadium on the Irish sideline was ND fans and it was probably never in view.

With that said, definitely way too many GA fans there. But literally every single one I talked to mentioned that ND is the mecca of college football and they couldn't miss this opportunity, so I guess we're not irrelevant like a lot of talking heads like to say to garner clicks.

As shitty and embarrassing it was having so many away fans, I will say that was the best atmosphere I've ever been too. Intensity when either team got the ball, just sucks it happened in our stadium.

AP game article mentioned 8,000 tickets allotted to UGA and there were about twice that many in the stadium.

None of them had blue hair nor were faculty working on their Monday classes.

You're not wrong about anything and I have never been more embarrassed as a fan but a couple mitigating factors:

1) Our team was terrible last year and that really affected the appetite of many people to go to games. I know I personally had no desire to attend a game this year.
2) George fans are passionate and this is probably the only time they would ever be able to experience this.

Combine the two and you get a lot of ND fans selling tickets on the open market that were bought up by Georgia fans. I do truly believe that most people would take back what they did after they saw what the result was. Most people probably never thought their 2-4 tickets would be part of thousands sold to UGA fans.

Definitely SUCKED watching on TV and seeing all the red in the stands! Those "turncoats" that sold their tickets shouldn't even be allowed to get tickets in future for anything less than double the regular price! Frickin' money-hungry pricks!

Who? The fans or the school that is selling a framed piece of wood for $400?

So our OC play calling was bad because of the colors in the crowd?

Brandon Wimbush can't throw spiral because of the colors in the crowd?

ND pussy foots in the running lane because of the colors in the crowd?

Our best oline gets his ass whooped because of the colors in the crowd?

We only have one good receiver because of the colors in the crowd?

Please. This is a cop out for poor coaching/play and someone who is made they weren't in stadium.

You weren't at the game were you? So do you not believe that a crowd can effect the game? Why not just schedule all our games away then?

This was a one point, grind it out game, one where every small momentum change mattered. But you think a crowd filled with raging Dawgs didn't matter?

Give me a break. If I recall, you or your buddy sold tickets. That's why you are trying to act like crowds don't matter. Is that right?

It's complete greed. Everyone of those season ticket holders each know a 100 irish fans who would take those tickets from them and probably pay double over face at least. It's shameful.

Regardless of all this it's still embarrassing as a fan base.

Not trying to antagonize, but have a question:

How many people complaining about it were actually there? IMO those people have every right to freely complain about this. The rest of us don't really have much here.

I feel like it's fair for any fan, regardless if they were at the game, to be mad about Notre Dame ticket holders selling out their team for a quick buck. Why does it matter if they themselves went?

I can garauntee you in two years irish fans will get only 8000 tickets and they will be in the worst part of Sanford stadium and there wont be an ounce of breathing room as you are surrounded by deranged UGA fans. UGa ticket holders wont be so apt to sell theirs no matter what price.

Seeing that on tv was disheartening and pathetic. Both my wife and brother in law said it was unbelievable. They asked why would Irish fans not make it as difficult as possible at home? Why would they allow that happen? Its inconceivable to them that regardless of a fan bases ability to travel that a home team would allow that to happen. They asked that because they have never seen that watching on tv or live. It doesnt happen in the big SEC or ACC teams stadiums.

Strongly disagree. Lots of people would give an arm to be able to afford season tickets. Those people wouldn't have sold out. The ticket process is broken. Get these fair weather jokers out of the stadium

I understand that mindset. You guys seem to be mostly attacking the season ticket holders, which makes sense. ST are definitely a privilege, and can agree it's beyond Busch League to sell to opposing fans.

On the other hand, I haven't been to a game since 2012, and live 2 hours from campus. I consider that a poor display of fandom on my part, especially with so many games during that hiatus being borderline free to go to.

Big difference. You aren't buying tickets then flipping them to the enemy. You aren't actively sabotaging the team.

I wasn't there because I live in New York and can't afford to fly out for games right now but I have spent countless dollars on both home and away games as you all know (both Texas games, Natty, @MSU, @ASU, @Michigan 3x, @Clemson, etc. etc.) so I think I can complain because never in my life would I put my tickets on StubHub. I would only sell them to fellow fans at face value or less.

I was there, although we only had 2 tickets instead of 4, and GA fans were sitting in our old season ticket spots. This just isn't about crowd noise, it's about pride and the Notre Dame spirit. "What though the odds be great or small." A lot of fans obviously thought we didn't have a chance and sold their tickets before the season started. ND is all about the $$$ these days, and that mindset has ppermeated through the fanbase. I never wanted to see another Nebraska, and this felt worse. II'm embarrassed to be a fan today, and I feel for the players that saw how yellow and greedy our fan base and University have become.

So how do you solve it? Season ticket memberships like European football clubs have? I don't think it's enough to tell season ticket holders they should care more, or have more pride and not sell to opposite fan bases. If money talks, they're going to listen. I don't think they'll fundamentally change their outlook. I think it comes down to the product on the field being subpar, and the fact that a portion of the season ticket holders don't seem to be die-hard, live and breathe Notre Dame Football types. Whereas other historical football powers like Alabama and Michigan have alumni, fan bases and season ticket holders that would gladly sacrifice their first born for a championship, Notre Dame just seems to lack those extremely passionate fans in large numbers. I think a European model is a good thing. ID is checked against the ticket upon entry. If you are unable to attend a game/match, the ticket goes back into the "club" and another "member" of the "club" is able to purchase it. Eliminates 2nd hand market (in most cases) and I think we'll find the truly passionate fans get their hands on more tickets. Thoughts?
