I don't know, call me insensitive, but I'm eating lunch and seeing Caitlyn Jenner just made it really hard to stomach.

There is something so unsettling about her whole body that it gives me the heebeejeebees. Like watching open heart surgery while eating lunch.

I think he doth protest too much.

This is the show that makes you lose faith in humanity? Not the Bachelor, Me and Kate Plus 8, or 19 Kids and Counting?

Don't you dare include Honey Boo Boo in the list.

I blame the poster who started the BYU recruit shot thread. I found the "I am Cait" morsel at the same site. would be a better person today had I not clicked that link lol.

Oh that's right don't take responsibility, blame someone else! lol

I know people that won't let their 8 yr old kid watch Spongebob because it's too risque.

I know other people that won't let their 11 and 12 year old children play Minecraft because it has killing in it (yes, killing the freakin zombies and Enders and pigs and shit).

I am infinitely more dismayed by their attitudes than by Caitlyn Jenner deciding she's a woman or anyone interested in hearing her story.

Bruce can change his name, cut off his pecker, add boobs and take hormones. He still has that Y chromosome, so he's still a guy in disguise.

That would be the point of the term "trans-gender."

Glad Caitlyn feels better about himself/herself now, but I'm in the camp that feels this is just attention whoring to promote another crappy show. There's so much garbage on TV these days. The ABC special was fine, I'm sure it was a positive experience for those that have had similar struggles in their life. This new show certainly feels like a shameless money grab though.

I don't understand this concept, and it's almost the prevailing opinion regarding this situation.

Why would a guy that is already on one of the most prolific shows on the planet have the need to transform into a women simply to get viewers? Jenner could have brought viewers without it.

It just seems crazy to me that people still think that Jenner would go through hormone therapy, get implants and eventually cut off his own dick in order to get viewers... something he already has a great deal of.

I don't think he went through the transformation to garner viewers. I think his choice was legitimate and he feels he should be a woman. The ABC special felt somewhat honest and was done well I thought, but it's doubtful the new TV show will be the same. It will be reality TV most likely with it's faux drama and crappy brand of entertainment. It'll be created to bank off the Jenner transgender buzz and his previous celebrity on the Kardashian show. The ABC special was well done, for what it was worth, but a whole new reality show feels like a shamless money grab that won't do anything for people that question their identity and it'll most likely do more harm than good. I suppose another Kardashian spinoff was going to be inevitable, but it's getting kind of silly at this point.

She's been forced into becoming a "media celebrity" and "social media star" since she was a toddler. If a grown person wants to identify as whatever, fine. But I don't believe a four year old can "identify" one way or the other, regardless of what their genitals are. A pre-pubescent child is essentially genderless.

So are you offended by her parents letting her be on tv, her being transgender or both?

I understand the point regarding the fame, although if you have actually ever heard Jazz talk, you would see that she chooses to be a voice for what she sees as an important and difficult issue facing other kids. One that she believes she can make a difference with. Would you feel the same if the topic was bullying, mental illness or race?

On the second point, if a kid doesn't identify as a gender (scientifically I believe you are incorrect) then you disagree with parents fostering a girl to be more "girly" or "toughening up" their boy? Or do you only think parents are dispecable when you disagree with their child's natural disposition?

I'm not "offended" by any of it. I feel bad for the child. I don't believe reality television is a healthy environment for anyone, let alone a teenager on serious dosages of hormone medication. I also think, based on how young she was when she first entered into the public spotlight, that there's a lot more than meets the eye vis-a-vis the parents' influence. If you follow her arc, it starts to look much more like they're fame-seeking stage parents rather than their curated personas that they present on TV.

It's funny that you mention mental illness, because up until it became politically inconvenient, gender identity disorder was classified as a mental illness. An XY male with a penis who believes himself to be a female is no different than a 78 pounds anorexic woman who believes she's obese. In both cases, it's the mind that's dissociated with reality, not the body. Why, then, do we recognize that the appropriate treatment for anorexia nervosa is therapy but maintain that the appropriate treatment for GID (or GD) is genital mutilation? When the mind and body don't agree, we should treat the one that's wrong.

To your main point, yes I would feel the same if the topic was bullying, mental illness, or race. I wouldn't allow my 14 year old daughter to be a reality TV or YouTube star. It's not appropriate and there are far too many pitfalls.

Disposition is different from gender, though I agree that forcing a child to behave in a way contrary to their nature is counterproductive to their overall development. However, just because a boy likes to do so-called "girly" things doesn't mean he IS a girl. My daughter might grow up liking Notre Dame football, red meat, trucks, wrestling, and power tools. She might not want to shave her legs or wear makeup. Fine. None of those things make her a male.

What the fuck?

http://unitedmediapublishing.com/first-tampon-for-transgender-women-to-hit-shelves-next-month/

"Our product is designed to give post-op trans-gender women the full-spectrum experience of menstruation. You don't have to be deprived of the beautiful and womanly occurrence of menstruation merely because you were born without uterus. The Fem-Flo's cotton core contains a small, vegetable-based capsule which upon reaching body temperature releases the "menses" contained within. It also aids in keeping the post-op canal conditioned and dilated after surgery and beyond."

ETA: Apparently this is fake. But LMAO.

From the short promo clip, the cutting room floor looks like the best place for it.

I don't know about "Cait" at this point. I'm in favor of not discriminating against LGBT individuals. I think Cait wants to be the poster child for transgenders, I'm not sure if Cait is just seeking attention or really trying to further a movement here. I saw something the other day where Trump said transgenders can use whatever bathroom they identify most with in his buildings, and Cait took a video of her going in the women's restroom in Trump's tower. The man already said transgenders can use whatever bathroom they want, why the need for a video of you doing just that? Seems like a lot of attention seeking for personal gains and not helping people as a whole.

I hate it when people use the American Flag as a prop. Just one of those pet peeves of mine. When it's in the moment(Jim Craig), I love it. When it's like this is going to be, I hate it.

This x100!

I assumed it was the "Body Issue", but when I re-read it, that doesn't seem to be the case.

I guess I don't get the need for it being nude either. Not because of the transgender issue, but rather just in general.

Just tucked my balls under, turned around and yelled "bulldog" to my wife. Is that weird?

That's the point. Sex sells. A "sexually liberated" population is easier to market to. No room for ethical considerations when there's money to be made:
