Chip Kelly interests me. I’m wondering where he fits in and how he adapts to the current game and defenses. There’s an awful lot of teams that play fast since he left and a blueprint to deal with it a lot better. I don’t think he ever should have left the college game. We shall see soon enough.

-My gut tells me he has to hit success right off the bat and if he struggles to 5-7 wins in year one he may have great difficulty moving forward.
-IF he does have success early does he stay long term or is this an avenue to something else?

I'm telling you, I'm super curious to watch how that plays out... can't wait to watch UCLA next year. They play OU, Cinncy and Fresno State out of conference next year... I have no idea how it's going to go for them. The range of definite possibilities is pretty extreme imo.

He never says anything racist; rather, he's willing to speak against the grain so he attracts a large following from the "anti-PC" crowd (many of whom are racist). While that is certainly part of the issue, the two closest buddies are Vol fans, born and raised. They say it more to do with Schiano having no real ties to UT and not at all understanding the Vol Nation culture. Basically, he is an outsider, and UT fans wants a homegrown UT coach, someone from their own upbringing who knows Volunteer culture. Schiano is about as far from Volunteer orange and white as I am being raised in South Bend.

To be clear, because I've loathed Travis since basically the 2012 season and have followed his evolution from SEC-shill to "anti-PC activist" for more clicks over the past year or so, he's detestable.

But he's not racist. Like the Politico article articulates, he's a Democrat who worked on the Gore campaign and it's pretty obvious that he stands against actual racism. He just hates modern progressive orthodoxy and the hypocritical nature of a lot of media PC... and has found that saying as much gets him a big audience from people who have quit ESPN, etc. for that very reason.

These days if you call out the progressive establishment or race profiteers/liars like King they just label you "white supremacist" or "racist" because it's easy and dismissive. That's what is happening to Travis... he is quite obviously not racist if you look at his history. He has been adopted by a lot of conservatives (some of them racist) because he's willing to talk shit at progressives and big corporate interests.

He lost THREE PAC games in his four years at Oregon, and he lost those three by a combined 15 points (one loss was in OT). He really only lost one game by a wide margin, and that was the LSU game in Texas stadium. The teams who had success against him at Oregon dominated the trenches and played disciplined, and I don't see enough depth in the trenches or well coached, disciplined teams in the PAC, outside of Washington and Stanford, to stop him from having success at UCLA.

Say what you want about his personality, but he can flat out coach. In my opinion, he's one of three elite coaches in college ball - Saban, Meyer, Chip and everybody else. I completely understand why some people would disagree, given his lack of titles. Just my opinion.

I agree with most of what you said, but it happening at Oregon won't automatically translate to it happening at UCLA. I hope it does, I'm a semi Bruin fan and my parents and sister are all big UCLA fans so yeah.. it would be cool to see. It's been WAY too long since they made a Rose Bowl.

_Side, it's still crazy to think he was only there for four years... didn't it seem like so much longer than that?? Anyone remember his first game?? Very memorable, in a loss...
