FSU suffers multiple decommitments after Fisher's departure

Article's not worth anything, but I just liked the headline.

I'm trying to shed a tear, but I'm dry.

Don't be surprised if Fulmer names himself as interim HC. Given the signing period is approaching and they've struck out like the Mighty Casey, I can see him selling the admin that him doing both is the right thing to do for the moment. Then he waits until next year to get someone when the stink from this search has dissipated.

What is everyone's thoughts on Herm Edwards at ASU... Would ND fans been happy if we hired a guy like him.. Average record in the pros, was brutal his last year in KC.. Hasn't coached in almost a decade, but man he is a leader of men and can motivate. Every recruit knows who he is and if he builds a good staff, I think he could be a very good coach in college..

Not sure if it would of passed the smell test at ND but seems like a great risk for ASU

I'm very on board with a leader and motivator, so long as good coordinators follow. It's the Dabo Swinney model and it only works if your head coach/cheerleader effectively delegates the X's and O's to smart coordinators (Cam Cameron, Jimmy Lake, Kirby Smart, etc.).

I thought 10 years ago the guy should have gone to college. Just seemed like he would do well with his personality. He's been out of the game a long time now so I'm not as sure as I was back then.

Herm Edwards apparently doesn't know ASU are the Sun Devils.

This hire is fantastic and not for the reasons they think.

Eta: I'd be livid if ND hired someone like him. Dude hasn't coached at all in like 9 yrs, hasn't coached college in decades, and wasn't that great when he did. That hire is a joke and I love those dumbasses for it.

Reading some of Herm's sound bites and... this is going to be an abject disaster. The memes, however, will be legendary.

Watch him win multiple Pac 12s and take ASU to the playoff here and there...

If you are ASU you might as well take the risk... With Chip Kelly coming in, you need to do something to stand out for recruits in the area

That's what I was thinking. Perhaps some time on the analyst couch has done him good. I don't know what to expect performance wise but I do think he will recruit well. I'd bet he improves on the current state of the team.

As soon as Herm gets settled in at ASU, expect some kids to get sent packing. Herm don't play. They may not win a lot at first, but they'll be disciplined and tough.

yeah, based on his sub .400 record in the NFL as a head coach in two different stints and the fact that he hasn't coached at the college level in over 30 years, I'd say you're probably right.

Arky getting C. Morris is starting to leak out. I think that's a good hire for them if true.

What about Kiffin to Oregon? No news or rumors but just a thought.

I hadn't thought of that, but it might be a good fit for both. Lane can coach and recruit as well as almost anyone. If he ever grows up, he can be a serious force to be reckoned with. USC and Bama were a little too much of the big stage and constantly in the limelight for him to handle, but Oregon might be just right for Daddy Freshwater to get his big school groove on again.

I'm probably in the minority but I think the Taggert hire is a pretty shit one. He definitely didn't prove he can do it on the big stage in Eugene.

The stage in Eugene isn't nearly as big as the one he just stepped on. Hope he does well.

Also, 3 schools in 3 years doesn't look very good.

Yeah but if he wins at Fla St at the level he has to, he could set up shop there for a long time. It will be fun seeing who can take the lead in recruiting in Fla with him, Richt, and Mullen.

How does Les Miles not have a job?
(I know, I know. But seriously. The guy's a good coach. Would be a smart pickup for one of the mid-level SEC programs. Or, hell, Tennessee.)

It will/should either be Tee or Les at TN IMO.
Les would do well there with the right coordinators.

Josh Heupel, Mo OC, hired as UCF head coach.
From UCF Football website:
In 2015, prior to Heupel's arrival, Missouri ranked 124th in the nation in total offense (280.9). In 2016, the Tigers led the Southeastern Conference and were ranked No. 13 in the nation, averaging 500.5 yards per game. In 2017, Mizzou is currently ranked No. 7 in the nation in total offense, averaging 511.5 yards per game. The Tigers are currently No. 10 in the nation in scoring at 39.3 points per game.

Missouri quarterback Drew Lock blossomed under Heupel's tutelage. Lock led the SEC in passing as a sophomore, throwing for 3,399 yards and 23 touchdowns. He followed that up with an even stronger junior campaign in 2017, passing for 3,695 yards and an SEC-record 43 touchdown tosses, with a bowl game left to play.

Mike Norvell signed a 5 year $13 mill extension with Memphis, including $3 mill to an assistant coaches pool for his nine assistant coaches.

Oregon coaching candidates: Kevin Sumlin, Mike Leach, Lane Kiffin among others
For the second time in as many years, the Oregon job is open
Barrett Sallee 9h ago

1. Mike Leach, WSU coach
2. Mario Cristobal, ORE interim coach
3. Kevin Sumlin, former Texas A&M coach
4. Lane Kiffin, FAU head coach
5. Jim McElwain, former UFcoach
6. Tee Martin, USC OC
LOL@ McElwain, dude is trash. I think Leach or Kiffin would be good fits there.

Most of the remaining jobs are probably a little too "big time" for him right now. A Fresno State or UNLV level job would be a great start for him and he could grab the under-the-radar west coast recruits.
