Love to play, but not very good. My best round is a 93. And that was when I was golfing every week back in 2006/2007. I'd probably be shooting about 105 - 110 right now. For me, it's more about being out there with a couple friends and several cold ones!

Living in Arizona, I can golf year round. So I can start at anytime!

Played my first round of the year a couple weeks ago... Shot a 45 for 9 holes, and given the condition of the course and the cold weather, I was pretty dang happy with that. I hope by summer time I will be able to break into the 30s/70s again

If you have the fundamentals down, the more you play, the better you will get. Simple as that. If you play twice a week, heck maybe even just once a week, you can definitely reach high 80's.

That's the plan. I drive really well, straight and far. My problem is that I three-putt a lot and my iron game is terrible.

We'd be good on a best ball team. My drives suck, but I'm pretty good from a 7 iron in to the green. And I rarely 3 putt unless I've left myself a really long way from the hole.

Haven't touched the clubs yet this year, but our league starts April 24. Hopefully it gets into the 50's at least soon so I can hit the range a few times. I'm taking over as league commissioner this year too, so it should be an eventful summer.

I'm pondering getting a membership to the rinky dink course we play at just so I'm forced to play more and improve my game.

I hit most clubs decent, but I don't even carry a driver with me anymore; instead I wack a wood from the t-box. For whatever reason, I cannot hit accurately with a 'fat headed' driver - which is all they make these days. Any suggestions? Most of my drives with the fat-headed driver's are slices. I hit the R7 3 wood very well off of the t-box.

Unless this thread is intended to elicit numerous posts about Ty Willingham I don't see the connection to "Notre Dame Football."

I've never been a big golfer, but I do enjoy watching Tiger play in the big tournaments. I have golfed probably around 3 times the last 2 summers combined. I'm not bad for rarely going golfing, hopefully I can get out more this year

My understanding is that it is about the degree of loft. The more loft a club has, the easier it is to get back spin on the ball and this helps the ball fly straighter. Typical drivers are 9-11 degree loft, so they are the most difficult and have the most fade or slice when you do not hit the ball perfectly. This is because they have more side spin when you mis-hit the ball. You could try closing or opening your stance to see if you can contact the ball at a different angle. You can also buy clubs that compensate for how you swing the club naturally, but you have to have your swing analyzed.

Practice my man. Everything inside 60 yards will either make or break your game. If you can develop just a slightly above average short game to go with those long straight drives, you will be looking at low 80's in no time. I don't even touch my driver. I just don't have control of it. I hit a really good 3 wood off the tee, so that makes up for it, but I would love to be able to hit my driver.

Anybody have any hole in ones? Last summer, I holed one on a par 5 from 170 or so out for eagle. In all honesty, it was the luckiest shot ever. It was a completely blind shot. The green is out the bottom of a cliff, so I was actually using a 9 iron from that far away. I've also stuck em with in a couple of inches before on par 3's, and even hit the flag once, but yet to get a hole in one.

They'll sell about 1000 of these, people with cash who want the new toy. Costs would be prohibitive for most courses.

They don't look particularly easy to get in and out of for older players.

It is cool though.

I have a horrid right slice. I'm talking like 100 yd slice to the right at times. What I noticed after trying to figure it out and play it for a few years is that I don't roll my wrists over. As I contact the ball I tend to open up my hips and tuck my elbow and my wrists don't roll. That seems to be the root of my issue.

Can't wait to get out there this year. When I golf once a week I get into the mid- to high 80s. But, I'm usually in the mid 90s and occassionally shoot over 100. Still a bit chilly in PA, but it won't be long.

I'm no professional at all, but you shouldn't be worrying about getting under the ball. You want to contact the ball first and then down into the turf for your divot, compressing the ball and letting the face of the club get the ball in the air. Getting under the ball just takes away power (distance) and most of the time accuracy.

Absolutely. Worry about hitting down on the ball and striking it well by keeping your head down and your swing under control.
